West Easton Voting on "Black Lives Matter" Resolution Tonight

This evening, West Easton Borough Council is poised to consider the Black Lives Matter resolution posted below at their 6:30 pm zoom meeting. You can watch it from the comfort of your own home at Join Zoom Meeting .

BOROUGH OF WEST EASTON COUNCIL

RESOLUTION NO._____________

DECLARING UNEQUIVOCALLY THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER AND REAFFIRMING WEST EASTON POLICIES AND ORDINANCES THAT PROHIBIT DISCRIMINATION

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton strives to be a vibrant and welcoming community, where all people feel protected, included, secure and safe;

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton has adopted polices and ordinances that prohibit discrimination because of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, age, handicap, sexual orientation, or familial status;

WHEREAS, despite the Borough policies and ordinances, as well as similar state and federal laws, discrimination and racism still exists in our country, our state, and our Borough;

WHEREAS, systemic racism manifests itself both overtly and covertly through examples such as the recent killing of George Floyd by four members of the Minneapolis Police Department, social media posts that support racism, the recent rise of white supremacist groups throughout the country, and implicit biases and stereotypes that result in disparate treatment for people of color throughout our country;

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton stands with community members who may have peacefully protested acts of racism, injustice, and inequality;

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton recognizes that some of the Borough’s earliest white inhabitants were supportive of segregation and its leaders had enacted ordinances that prohibited equal opportunity for people of color;

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton took steps to remove a pre-existing and unlawful Ordinance that only allowed for a white male to be a Chief of Police;

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton expressly recognizes that the history of the Civil War and the United States should not be forgotten, but that museums and history books are the place to learn about those who took up arms against the Union, or committed crimes against humanity—not prominent monuments on public property that glorify Confederate leaders, or those who committed genocide and horror upon native inhabitants.

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton is committed to combatting systemic racism and ensuring that the Borough continues to be welcoming for all; and

WHEREAS, the Borough of West Easton unequivocally declares that black lives matter.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by The Borough of West Easton Council:

Black lives matter.

That the Borough reaffirms its anti-discrimination policies and ordinances and commits to working with the community to take all action necessary to create additional anti-racist policies and ordinances that address racism.

BOROUGH OF WEST EASTON

Why is antifa not included in this resolution as they are marxists also? Local blm a little thin skinned and need some new leadership. Just because your have a prison record doesn't mean you are a leader. We need someone from Seattle.

Such BS -- ALL LIVES MATTER NOT JUST BLACK!

Who runs and organized Black Lives Matter? From what I know and read, the comments from 2 of the leaders is they are Marxist and want to overthrow the bill of rights and constitution of this country. Their demands to defund police is just a small step to that goal.

Meaningless statement supporting reverse racism. Politicians are disgusting - both sides.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Might be meaningless, but the claim of "reverse racism" is bullshit. After hundreds of years of both slavery and overt racism, it is important that all communities announce that black lives matter. We already know white lives matter.

All Lives Matter. Including the Lives of Blacks.
Black Lives Matter is an organization. A Racist organization.

It perpetuates the lie of "systemic racism".

I'm sorry, but we don't have a racist system. As the resolution itself notes, there are already numerous laws against all forms of racism at the federal, state and local level. Those who are wronged by others on the basis of race have an opportunity seek justice in our court system. That's the way the system works.

That racism still exists despite such laws doesn't make it systemic. Despite laws against murder, there are still murders committed. Yet we wouldn't say we have systemic murder (or robbery, or assault) problem in our country (except perhaps in democrat run cities).

As another comment pointed out, this is a meaningless resolution to score political points. That we have so many politicians willing to work on the meaningless instead of the meaningful is a large part of our problems.

Bernie O'Hare said...

I refuse to host an ignorant comment denying there is such a thing as systemic racism. The evidence is overwhelming.

This is 2 comments from co-founder Patrisse Cullors of black life matters: (1)“ This Black Lives Matter Movement was conceived by trained Marxists pushing an agenda of communist revolution”. (2)” We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and co-founder Alicia Garza in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists”.

Bernie O'Hare said...

There is rather a large difference between Black Lives Matter™️ and “black lives matter.”

Yes there is, but the latter is being co-opted by a Marxist organization (the former).

Unfortunately, many either don't realize that or seem ok to let it happen.

In addition, the BLM organization is trying to gain legitimacy and sow division by smearing those who say "all lives matter" as racists, and actually painting them as against black people.

Our leaders need to speak out against that.

If you feel the need to rebut or argue the point of Black Lives Matter, you just simply have your head too deep up your own ass.

You end up sounding like an entitled, yet whiny, snowflake who is easily offended and probably filled with many insecurities about their lot in life.

Also if your reflexive reaction is to shout and use the phrase "Marxist" you are a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist who is unable to see reality.

The only one co-oting is you. You are equating black lives matter with Marxism, and mostly out of a need to justify your continued racist beliefs.

WTF are you talking about? Even you admitted a few comments ago that there's a big difference between the statement "black lives matter" and the Black Lives Matter organization. And you agreed that the leaders of the BLM organization are Marxists.

Are you just getting forgetful in your old age, or hitting the sauce again?

The BLM organization and its leaders aren't hiding who they are. If you don't see what they are, you're blind. If you can't call them out, you're part of the problem.

What actions will be taken as a result of this resolution?

Or are they "just saying"?

Black Lives Matter is there to take-out the Sanders campaign and universal healthcare.

From the first time they took over Bernie's microphone when he challenged Hillary in 2016 they been remarkably successful at destroying the left.

If counterintelligence had Black Lives Matter in the sixties they wouldn't have spoiled their good name with CoIntelPro.

"Such BS -- ALL LIVES MATTER NOT JUST BLACK!"

So when is America going to start acting like that statement is true?

Anonymous said...

You guys are brutal. Can we all agree that many don't realize the difference between the marxist BLM with an agenda to destroy this country is different than those making a point of racism concerns and black lives matter. And I disagree that saying all lives matter is racist but I understand the issue now is black lives matter

Bernie O'Hare said...

2:38, What I am doing is pointing out your misuse of logic. You note that Black Lives Matter™️ is marxist, which is true. From there, you go on to claim, illogically, that the black lives matter movement is being co-opted by the organization. What this is really about is your unwillingness to face the real problem of racism. Fortunately, a large number of white people, including myself, are awakening to the reality that systemic racism is alive and well.

Anonymous said...

Bernie. I do believe it is happening and a problem. Am I still a racist then?

Bernie O'Hare said...

Probably. We are all guilty of it to a greater or lesser degree. Very few in my age bracket who grew up in this area are free of racist or anti-Semitic thinking. Many are deeply offended when I point to their racism, but they equate racism with the KKK and lynching. Systemic racism is far more subtle. I am a racist. I am anti-Semitic. Both of these were deeply ingrained in me. I think I'm much better than I was even five years ago, but it's probably too late for me. Just like I am repulsed by the image of two guys kissing. I know young people are far more tolerant than I was at their age and I see hope for us. We need to be reminded, from time to time, that black lives matter.

Thank you. I had a father who fought in World War two. I remember how he felt. I never wanted to feel like he did so I've spent my life aware and trying to be open to everything. He did however instill in me the drive to do better and seize the opportunities in this life even when others said I couldn't. I wish that for everyone. As no one in this life has support all of the time. Life has it's struggles. We just have to rise above them. People can be mean no matter their history of origin

Bernie O'Hare said...

And our fathers were probably better persons and more tolerant than their fathers before them. We evolve, at least most of us.

West Easton: give it up already and merge into Easton. Little dinktown that can't take care of itself anyway.

'''Do Brown Black Lives matter...if they're Israelis'''?

BLACK, BROWN, WHITE, YELLOW ISRAELIS

Since color has become a language somehow, and anti Israel bigots distort, then let's remind, most Israelis are "brown," in terms of stats. You have also many Ethiopian Jews.

No wonder the propagandists will never show democratic multiracial Israel in day to day lives.

SECURITY VS RACISTS

But of course Israeli security concerns are just that. Unrelated to any "color" or "race." Actually, speaking of racism, yes, Arab Muslim attackers target only Jews. Talk about real racism.

BACKGROUND ON HIJACKING TERMINOLOGY

True, hijacking of term 'it's racism," is as old as Palestine propaganda emerged by holocaust denier Issa Nakhleh who began in June-17-1949 the "like the Nazis and worse than nazis" line (and by Nov-14-1972 said all 6,000,000 were alive and Hitler "didn't" kill, and represented 'Muslim Congress' at Holocaust deniers convention in 1981), then picked up in 1960 by Nazi Tacuara saluter Ahmad Shukairy who by Oct-17-1961 added that garbage-touch apartheid slur too and questioned Catholic Uruguayan rep. Enrique Fabregat's loyalty, stating because he's (supposedly) a Jew. And both, of course were Hitler's ally ex-mufti Islamic leader al-Husseini avid fans. With Shukairy his aide.

Speaking of ex Mufti's admirers... Sufi Abdul Hamid, infamous 'Black Hitler' in NY who called to drive out Italians and Jews in the 1929-30, was also his admirer.

RE FARAKHANNISTS & FAKE "PRO-"

One might begin to argue there is such a thing as "pro Palestine", when Farrakhan linked Ilhan Omar / Linda Sarsour / Rashida Tlaib will have a routine of decrying Arab Muslim suffering when it's not in context of Israel (who has been facing existential threat ever since) but suffering when by Arab Muslim entities. One would then hear about a real en-masse massacre. Such as hundreds of thousands in Syria, current example. And if they begin to do anything along the line, then no lip service please. But with that same "passion" as in fake "symparhy" played at the 'other' case.

The absenty reason is clear. Self explanatory. Because pro Palestine is a cover for anti Israel and often anti ALL Jews.

A note re L Farrakhan, that guy with his "blue eyes are the devil," when he uttered his "termites" venom, his genocidal hint was clear under the veil.
