Kids Say No to PennEast Pipeline
Carrying signs saying "108 miles of devastation" and "STOP the Pipeline!" about 20 PennEast Pipeline protesters ripped up proposed lease agreements yesterday during an outdoor rally at Guy Wagner's farm in Lower Nazareth Township. Above are some of the children joining in the fun. The young man whose eyes peek out above the Stop Sign is River Venini. He was joined by Tia Venini, Javis Venini, Jaycee Venini, Pipa Russell, Addy Russell, Johanna Bowers, Bella Waits and Kaia Elinich.
The PennEast Pipeline is a $1 billion, 118-mile, 36-inch diameter proposed pipeline will deliver approximately 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to Mercer County, New Jersey. A formal application seeking approval of the project was filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on September 21, 2015. Construction is expected to start in 2017.

supposed grown ups using children. maybe fed ed and booby d can learn something from this
Brainwashed youngsters. The libtards start early.
These young children are the leaders of the next generation. They understand that clean air and clean water are Their Constitutional Right and know how important it is to #BeTheChange.
Let's keep transporting on roads and rails. The parents who use their kids as political props can figure out how to stop them from being incinerated when the tankers explode.
Yes, the future.
Think about them on Saturday night as you contemplate how your living quarters are staying warm.
The increased fracking for natural gas that this pipeline -- and the 7 others proposed for PA -- will help devastate the future lives of those children (as the 190 nations who joined the Climate Agreement, the U.S. Dept. of Defense, and most sentient beings understand. Natural gas, like all fossil fuels, is not needed to "warm our living quarters": that can be done with renewable energy that will not further heat up the planet. Neither natural gas, oil, or coal need to be "transported on roads and rails" -- a dangerous and wasteful process. If you think natural gas is a solution to our energy needs, you should probably check that out with your grandchildren in 2040.
Just to clear something up, it was my idea to shoot a pic of the kids. The parents were not using their kids as props, and if anyone is at fault for using children, that would be me. It is a fair criticism, and my motivation was to present a visual image that most effectively presented how protesters felt.
These children are already being harmed by the poisons that are being pumped into the air because of our fossil fuel dependence. they are also way ahead of many of us in their eloquence of speaking out against this absurd proposition to take our lands just so that a private corporation can make a profit. the pipeline here is being proposed by UGI because they want to save money on the shipping expenses. They managed to make sure that rate payers will be paying for the pipeline through some arcane bill called "Mechanisms for Recovery..." which says that the gas company can charge back customers for any modernization of pipelines..so you and I will pay for the whole shebang if it goes through. Also PA gets nothing in return, no taxes, like NJ does, only the danger, and there is real danger of being incinerated when a pipeline is 36 inches in diameter and under 1480 psi...the blast zone is over 900 ft. In many cases this monstrosity is going within feet of home, schools, churches...not to mention that the company overseeing the building has already been responsible for the death of 5 souls because of their sloppy safety record...look into the facts and you too might be against this pipeline, unless of course you work for UGI
A balanced civics lesson would be having the kids spend the coming weekend in unheated homes. Just tell 'em it's for their own good.
I'm sure the solar panels will keep them warm, especially Saturday night.
"I'm sure the solar panels will keep them warm, especially Saturday night."
Ah the enlightened flat earth portion of the teabaggers weighs in. thank you, I also have a snowball in my freezer thus disproving global warming as a liberal socialist communist workers party Ivy League hoax.
Frankly, depending on solar panels at night when it's below zero is more like believing in a flat earth. Of course, that might be hard to believe for someone who is infatuated with a coarse sex act.
Solar panels drain energy from the Sun that can never be replaced. They're a careless and selfish idea.
...especially when tax subsidies for them steal from the poor and give to the rich.
To the best of my knowledge , 7 ice ages have occurred . The earth must have warmed after each . Very few people, no cars wa up? How did we get the kids to pose, withold the iPads. Hug a tree.
Al Gore and his fruitcake followers.
John Deere has come out with a solar powered tractor. The new WTF3000 is capable of operating for a period of 22 min. The Msrp. Of $715,000.00 can be amortized over a 400 year period with the $300,000.00 federal subsidy. I know all these kids and parents have a 0 carbon footprint. These people are laughable.
I love how people assume that children cannot think, make decisions, or participate in these kinds of debates. These young people have looked at the facts, weighed the evidence, and made their decisions. How DARE you demean their intelligence by assuming someone "brainwashed" them. That is reprehensible, and does a tremendous dis-service to the next generation.
I find it funny that these folks are all fired up (ha) about the "dangers" of a brand new pipeline that will likely be built to the highest modern standards and quality of any pipeline in the area, but have no concerns about old existing pipelines, many of which run right along the proposed route of this one, some of which date to the 1940s and were constructed with comparatively inferior welding methods and pipe thickness/quality. Still safe if maintained properly though. The feds (PHMSA, the agency that regulates pipelines) has a bug up the ass of every pipeline company at the current time so more attention is being paid to preventative maintenance and testing than ever.
Unauthorized third party excavation by people who don't put in PA One-Calls, etc. is the leading threat to pipelines, not the pipelines themselves.
Pipelinephobes are technology deniers. The same mindset believed the Earth was flat and that traveling west by sea would end in death by sea monsters. Al Gore farts in your general direction from the plush leather seats in his private jet.
I'm sure they all walked to the protest to keep warm.
