Last week, I told you that Lou Hershman, one of the finest persons I know, is the sole Republican running for Allentown City Council. If you have a chance, take a look at Allentown blogger Michael Molovoinsky's picture of Lou. That one picture seems to capture many stories and is in my eyes a work of art. I compliment Michael for this and hate him at the same time, because my own photography pales by comparison. But this post is not about Lou. It's about the other Republican running in Allentown.
Republican Steven Ramos is running for Allentown City Controller.
According to his statement, he and his wife Josefina have four children. They are homeowners in Center City Allentown and home school 3 of their children, with one attending the Arts Academy charter school. Steven is also a United States Army veteran and has worked as an Information Technology professional, managing server systems and networks for the past 16 years. He is currently working in a healthcare environment as a Systems Analyst, developing applications to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Why is he running?
"I'm running to give our city residents a controller that is independent of the city administration and able to provide an independent review of the city budget, services, and contracts. My initial priorities are having a transparent City Controller's office - making all finalized audits available to the public for their review as allowed by law and providing the proper oversight needed by the residents of Allentown of important boards and commissions that authorize the use of tax payer funds. I will also work to help make clear to our residents what our pension obligations are and what the total cost will be in the long term.”

Allentown used to have a City Controller but I guess the position was eliminated after 'The Fatman' got elected.I see another police overtime bonanza is occurring and since The City has no controller there is no one to stop it.This spending is too large to be a normal occurance
Steve Ramos ran for State Rep in 2014 and lost. He ran for City Council in 2011 and lost. Also, Lou Hershman ran for City Council in 2009 and lost. He then ran for Controller in 2011 and lost.
"Last week, I told you that Lou Hershman, one of the finest persons I know, is the sole Republican running for Allentown City Council."
What a hypocritical thing to say.
From MMs blog "Bernie O'Hare said...
The problem Herschman has is that he's developed the reputation of being a wing nut. He's the dude who proposed a flouridation stuify commission 40 years after the evidence was pretty clear that flouride helps prevent tooth decay. He has opposed legislation that would protect employees regardless of sexual orientation. He has inserted himself into the very divisive debate over illegal immigration, alienating many Hispanic voters. Hoffman is a former bank officer and a small business consultant, and believes Lou made some strategic ewrrors that cost the city money, including inflated police pensions. Like my pal Ron Angle, Lou likes to hound people. Unlike Ron, Lou lacks the brains to make any real points. I think people wanted to try something new.

Back then, I liked Pawlowsy too. I had the good fortune to meet Lou, have become friends with him, and he is one of the finest persons I have ever met.
Realestate frauds are not a prevelent on blog¿
redd
patent pending
Pawlowski is paying $$$ to make sure he has a friend as City Controller.

The City budget is a shell game. Pawlowski wants someone who agrees with him not someone who questions or challenges him.
Money controls the politics in the Lehigh Valley.
Well stated!
