This is a mortal blow to any news organization that respects itself. Glenn has thirty-six years in the news biz, including twenty as an editor. During that time, he's developed many reliable inside sources. He always has a good idea about what is going on all over the LV, even here in the boonies of Northampton County. That means nothing to Zellions, who are closing Easton's news bureau.
Whenever I hear Kranzley discussed, it's only a matter of time before someone refers to him as a "gentleman." His professorial approach might seem out of place in a busy news room, but it works just fine for him.
Incidentally, he and I started off on the wrong foot. I no longer remember what it was about, but I think I'm one of the few people who ever managed to piss him off.
It's a gift.
Glenn's absence will create a huge vacuum in the paper. For one thing, no one is left to write editorials.
For a complete list of the most recent layoffs, check Betty Cawler's blog.

Now who will force the reporters not to write the real stories about Northampton County? Stoffa must be going crazy. This is the guy who covered for Stoff when the Lehigh County fiasco happened.
Uh oh. THe fourth grader discovered spell check. Heeeee'sss Back.
Looks like an excellent week in the works for Bill Vila!
Glenno, word of advice: "we get too soon olde and too late schmardt."
Don't let the opinions gatekeeper door hit you on your dumb Dutch ass on the way ott. Once.
I'm sorry to see this happen. Now I know the paper is dead.
Today's paper does not allow for public comment regarding the new look. Someone said the NYT bought the then successful Boston Globe, and then ran it into the ground. Sadly, that just may happen here.
Anon 5:04, aka the Villas, have no problem hurling ethnic slurs at someone, especially if that person is Pa. Dutch.
hey... "if you ain't Dutch, you ain't much "
Thanks for reporting this, since you won't find this information in The Morning Call.
Mr. Kranzley is a class act and a journalist's journalist. This is not surprising news - but it's very bad news.
It's very sad. Of all the good people who are gone, he is the best of the best.
If Kranzley was so special, how come only 10 comments? Nobody cares about him. And that's what he deserves.
God Bless the Villa's in their quest for justice. The Civil Trial has started and many of us wish them all the best and hope they see Justice. No thanks to the Morning Call.
If I'm on the jury, I decide against them for just being assholes.
he invited us to join his blogosphere and likes baseball so we would be ones to say nice things about Mr. Kranzley even though my brother and I would not necessarily agree with him on everything perhaps.
good luck to Mr. Kranzley with whatever he wants to do.
today i had the privilege of my post on the wpa stone works reprinted in the morning call. i suspect because kranzley is a native allentownian, the topic resonated with him. I believe the paper not having the prospective of local editors is an enormous loss. following the article, there are fourteen hate filled comments by bill villa on the topix forum
What good are editors who are in the bag for certain politicans.
A number of hate-filled comments, which include impersonations by the Villas, have now been posted here. They are being deleted.

Wow.
Does the author really feel this way? What compassion. You're a hell of a swell fellow you are. Now, off to the backyard where you can shoot puppies with an air rifle or maybe pull wings off butterflies.
A real sweetheart!
VOR
VOR, Most regular readers here know who posted that remark. i suspect Glenn K, if he read it, knows who wrote it. And I agree. The author is a real sweetheart.
Merci.
I smell a bull.
