HRH Ann McHale Still Refuses to Address Unwashed Masses

As of Tuesday, Northampton County Executive candidate Ann McHale had no answers to questions posed for a detailed voter's guide prepared by The Express Times. Three of twelve council candidates were also delinquent.

By late Wednesday, all but one council candidate had their answers online. But not Her Majesty Anne the First, by the Grace of God, of Greater Bethlehem, West Behlehem South Bethlehem, and the Hanover Township Dominions beyond Schoenersville Road, Defender of Special Interests and Duchess of the Long Democrats. Now HRH wants to expand her empire to include ALL of Northampton County, and actually sat down with The Express Times editorial board for an interview yesterday, so you'd think she would have filled out the Voter Guide. But speaking to editors is probably even more annoying than talking to mere commoners. Besides, she much be too busy preparing for her impending coronation to answer questions about her future reign.

With an election just five days away, this is what the Imperious Ann McHale tells the unwashed masses:

How have your personal and professional experiences prepared you for public office?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

What is the most critical issue facing the county?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

If elected, what would you do to keep property taxes in check?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

With the economy stalling and county revenue decreasing, how would you push for job development and fund open space preservation?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

John Stoffa has said the county will likely face a tax increase in the next four years. Do you agree? If not, what's the alternative?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

The county needs new prison space. Do you support expanding the current prison or building a new one? Where could a new prison be built?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

As county executive, would you push for property reassessment?

Ann McHale: The candidate has not responded to this question.

If she's too busy to complete a simple questionnaire, do you really think she'll be able to manage a county with a $330 million annual budget?

Again O'Hate attacks a woman. This is a trend he and Angle share. Condesending nicknames and constant attacks.

Stoffa has his kid fill out his forms and lets Atiyeh give thousands in undocumented campaign support.
Shame on you O'Womanhater.

Why can't HRH Ann have one of her servants fill out this questionnaire? If she can't be bothered prividing some basic information to voters, how will she ever ruin a county government with a $330MM budget?

Just looked at Express website. They endorsed Stoffa.

Turn out the lights the party's over.

The papers have always been in the bag for Stoffa. Their endorsements were always expected. You are right about the lights. Stoffa is toast. What are you going to rave about next Wednesday when Ann McHale is the nominee and Stoffa is a lame duck.
Of course based on his performance over the past four years will anyone be able to tell the difference.

The papers are in the bag, I'm in the bag, Angle's in the bag. It looks to me like this thing is in the bag. On Wednesday, I'll be listening to crickets.

The voters are in the bag for Stoffa too.

Maybe the Joe Long Dems should invoke some bylaw and conduct the election on Monday at the Jacksonian Club in Nazareth.

Be careful about calling the race too soon Bernie. The Joe Long hacks will be out in full force to deliver their voters to the polls. We might also watch for nasty phone calls the day before the election or a last minute mail drop. THAT IS HOW ELECTIONS ARE WON, and often times it delivers a victory for the worst person for the job.

John still has to get HIS voters to the polls and this cannot be done with yard signs or favorable editorials.

I hope John wins. But I am not as convinced as you are that Ann's sleezy political operatives cannot deliver her a victory. Make no mistake. She has identified who will vote for her and has a plan with election day phone calls to make sure they vote. She may also scramble with a nasty phone call to voters she has ID'd as John's to try and keep some of them home. Add that to a last minute mailing.

JOHN HAS TO DO SOMETHING TO COMBAT THAT. I just hope he is not banking on the notion that voters are smart enough on their own to pick the right candidate. He is up against the political machine of Joe Long. Newspaper endorsements are nice in general elections, but in primaries democratic primary voters most often listen to their county committee. I hope they do not in this case, but let's not be so over confident that we forget to work hard for John on election day.

Thanks for bringing me back down to earth.

"Let the Express Times eat cake."

For the Long Dems: This quote, as attributed to Marie Antoinette, was claimed to have been uttered during one of the famines that occurred in France during the reign of her husband Louis XVI. Upon being alerted that the people were suffering due to widespread bread shortages, she is said to have replied, "Then let them eat cake."[3] This type of callousness on the part of the monarchy is often referred to when studying the possible factors that may have led to the French Revolution

hate politics, ridicule, guess thats who stoffa is.

the Voters will decide this election.

"Cake" was not cake as we know it, but what was left over after bread was made. It was cooked over an open fire and the bottom part was too burnt and had no nutritional value. This was cut off and thrown away as garbage. So what Marie meant was " let them eat garbage".

With all the expanding landfills in this county, that's what some will be forced to consume.

Anon 2:36 makes many good points.

The only endorsement, the only poll, the only result that matters will be election day, and that is determined by who shows up...common sense, but four years ago should be a reminder that nothing should be taken for granted.

Should McHale's record NOT be questioned justbecause she is a woman?

That's a sexist attitude

follow up to anon 2:36

last minute mud is a mixed bag. Unfortunately, it can be very effective because there is no time for "rebuttal" in the eyes of public perception (and perception is a voter's reality, accurate or not). However, it can also backfire. I remember when Ferraro had hired a "private eye" to try to dig up dirt on Nyce in 2005....that type of politics turns a lot of people off (did me) so I hope neither candidate goes there.

However, this is a week before a primary, which draws a smaller turnout of more serious voters. I suspect most know who they plan to vote for.

but until the fat lady sings....

You bash someone for making fun of the Slate Belt and then you bash Bethlehem and it's residents.

Do you have any clue whatsoever?

Since Stoffa is in the bag, I guess I don't need to go to the polls and vote for him. That's one less thing on the to do list.

Follow up...just got Stoffa's flier in the mail today...positive! Curious to see what last minute mail I may get from McHale...will it be a study of contrasts?

McHale has no more money left. What's left was used to pay off Severenson. No more fliers.

Bethlehem's always been a corrupt, crooked town. Why else would they choose her to elect them? Don't worry, Bernie, Easton won't let them take over the County and make her Empress.

She lies.

Stoffa has O'Hater and Angle do his dirty work. Look for the Angle piece attacking Ann. Remember this is part of the Stoffa playbook, play Mr. Niceguy and let your cronnies do the dirty work.

Who is dirtier than Angle and O'Hare not really anybody.

Angle and Ohare vs Dertinger and McClure and co. Its gettinold. Tag teams, as BILLWHITE said

HRH has no time for your silly common questions...she's too busy trying to get the city of Bethlehem-her city-to give her their insurance business....oh wait a minute, they use a guy in Hellertown because McHale is a snake oil saleswoman who can't be trusted to insure the city at a reasonable cost! (She did have the contract...and lost it!) Yeah-let's trust her with our county!!!,and by the way-LOVE the picture!,you should really call her and see if she wants to use it for her next mailer, cause the one I got today from her is scary!LOL

The Stoffaholics still can't explain how a guy who has accomplished nothing in four years can do anything different in the next four.
A lifetime bureaucrat who thinks making nice speeches is the same as doing something.

vote for mchale she a breath of fresh air. new ideas and with real vision for the future and no prison in bethlehem township.

Ann doesn't need the voters to win.

Can't anyone see what is happening here? You have a "catty" female and other females behind the scenes trying to get rid of the Human Resources director(Connie) because she plays by the rules and does not do what they want.Stoffa runs an honest, by the books office and does not worry about gender or party. Right is right! Duh!
