Why John Stoffa Fights Union Grievances


John Stoffa: "We have excellent employees, despite what you hear here. And we fight some of these union grievances because when you break the arm of a patient at Gracedale, we're gonna' fire you, not give you the grievance without fighting it."

Stoffa list prob the only incident that makes sense. If that is what happened I agree but theres a long list of grievances just like Charles stated and what does he say about them??? NOTHING! This guy is way out of touch with the real world maybe he should just find a bed at gracedale.

The truth is Stoffa is a Big Government Liberal. He wants to build child advocacy centers with multi-million dollar costs. He wants to move County goverment to Gracedale a price tag of one hundred million. He wants to reacess property taxes in Norco. Big Government Liberal in the Second Term.

Much as I'd like to take credit, it is Jeff Stoffa who videotaped as much of the debate as he could. If it were me, my shaking hansds would result in a wobbly final product. I will have segements of several council candidates as well.

And you "prob" realize by now that you failed to cite a single case. Morale would be better if Dertinger and his goons didn't support the rights of those who break elderly patients' arms. People generally don't like things like that.

I find it commendable that Stoffa didn't raise taxes for 3 1/2 years despite the $1,000,000 claimed that the taxpayers had to pay fighting Union grievances.

Stoffa should continue to film these events. When your opponents are shooting themselves in the foot with their own imbecility, it's best to hand them more bullets and keep the tape rolling!

ELEVEN UNIONS? ELEVEN UNIONS? Who are these people ? Bernie, is there a list? How can there be so many unions? Were there this many when the silk mills and steel mills still ran? I don't get it.

Only teflon john Stoffa can cite one egegious example to justify a million dollar law firm.

Stoffa has saved no money he has spent all the cash Reibman left him. If re-elected Stoffa will raise your taxes through the roof for his buildings and treatment centers throughout the county.

He promised employees speedy contracts to get their votes then after the election employees get the typical Stoffa amnesia,"who me? what promises?"

If you're so conserned about that legal fee, I have a suggestion. Stop filing baseless grievances and stop breaking patient's arms at Gracedale.

Many of the grievances should be worked out between the union and human resources. The problem? The grievance is immediately sent to arbitration. I've seen first hand many grievances that are petty, and many grievances that have merit.

For those of you blaming the union employees; you should work for the County at this time. Union employees are paid less than non-union employees in the same paygrade. Bernie will tell you that it's the union's fault for this. I'll agree with him up to the point that he makes Stoffa sound like this great man that is for the people. He knew the discrepancies were their, but did nothing to correct it. He knows the union employees pay more for health insurance than the non-union employees, but yet he does nothing. Why are the unions upset? You tell me...

Why 11 different unions? Good question...Still not sure why...

10% pay increase every year? I wish!!!

that is unfair, then ash yourself what has union done for you? sounds like they should get voted out. they should of known that was going to happen who neogotiated those contracts? not to smart.

I argued with the union till I was blue in the face. I saw what the County was doing, but AFSCME only wanted the 1.5 percent. The union did get us a higher longevity pay. The County followed with the same for the non-union (actually the non-union got it first, while the County was denying it for the union employees - they lost that in arbitration). Per the union contract, a job study is to be completed by this June. Non-union already had theirs, but it's stuck in County Council. They haven't even started the union employees yet. Per the director of Human Resources: You can file an unfair labor practice in June. Stoffa is aware of this. He's also aware of the salary discrepancy, as well as the Health benefit discrepancy. Where is this fair John Stoffa that was elected almost 4 years ago? I'm sure he'll fight for the union employees come contract time so we get at least what the non-union employees are getting.

Health benefit discrepancy? Do you have any idea how superior COunty Healthcare is to the private sector? Try working outside your bubble and see what the rest of us are living with out here in the real world. What's your copay? I guarantee it's less than mine. Poor you.

If it were your mother or father whose arm was broken, you would want someone to fight it too. No it isn't "common" for someone to have a broken arm "at that age". Unions should never protect someone who is guilty of abusing another human being. Keep fighting John!! There should be more human beings fighting for the people who are truly "grieved".
