McHale Loses On Own Home Field

When Northampton County Council Prez Ann McHale first ran for county council, lots of voters thought she was married to former Congressman Paul McHale. But if Tuesday's election is any indication, the McHale magic is gone. She even lost to Northampton County Executive John Stoffa in her district, which consists of Bethlehem, Hellertown and Hanover Township. An unofficial tally from voter's registration reveals she squandered her home field advantage.

Bethlehem: Stoffa - 1,394 votes; McHale - 1,267 votes.

Hanover Township: Stoffa - 343 votes; McHale - 238 votes.

Hellertown: Stoffa - 184 votes; McHale - 219 votes.

District Total:

Stoffa: 1,921 votes (52.7%); McHale: 1,724 votes.

McHale ran an even worse campaign than Glenn Reibman in 2005. Who would have thought that was even possible. Stoffa is a stiff but McHale has to be one of the worst campaigners to come down the pike.
This is who the Party picked over not only Stoffa but the other former Councilman Mr. Heckman? Amazing.

i believe mchale expected a coronation. she ran a lazy, entitlement-minded campaign.

If people thought Ann McHale was married to Paul McHale, why didn't Kathy McHale (Paul's wife)
speak up!

Actually, Kathy did replace her military husband's govt. elected position when he volunteered (again) to serve his country.

I wouldn't say Stoffa won by a landslide.

Didn't Paul McHale dump poor Kathy and move out of state?

McHale told the papers she wasn't interested in expanding her political career because her two daughters or pregnant and wanted to spend time with them. Were they already pregnant on Monday when she was telling people she was going to win? Or did this double conception happen at her Election night party?

I see McHale still has more of her signs left to pick up than anyone's else's. I guess the Longoons aren't as enthusiastic about their candidate as they were in the beginning.

Still more Stoffa signs. Get off the sofa and get your damn signs.

Imagine that, Hellertown ("The Land Before Reason") voted without weighting the issues.

Gotta love the politeness. McHales-Team already picked up all of Stoffa's signs. Three weeks ago.
