For Sale: Easton City Council Candidate Jeff Warren

In his primary bid for Easton City council, Boscola insider Jeff Warren spent $14.90 per vote, compared to incumbent Ken Brown's 8 cents. As the above Republican mailer indicates, I did call him "Easton's Magnet for Special Interests" when I discovered he raised $12,385 between the beginning of the year and the end of April, a lot more than mayoral candidates Fleck($8,424) or Panto($7,365). He picked up $3,300 from representatives of Ashley Development, and another $2,000 from other developers. He reports $4,450 in donations between $50 and $250, but only $300 of this sum actually comes from Easton residents. Outsiders and developers just don't give this kind of money unless they're looking for something.

Fifty-five hundred dollars just from developers? In a city council primary?? In Easton??? Where the sole incumbent has only raised $75???? It's disgusting.

In the most recent reporting period, Warren picked up another $1,000 from the local realtors' PAC.

Warren should just hang a "for sale" sign around his neck and be done with it.

If there's any doubt in your mind, consider the words of Lisa Boscola's potty-mouthed chief of staff, Bernie Kieklak. "I have worked with Jeff Warren for almost 10 years. Jeff is the brightest, most dedicated, and most talented person I have EVER worked with in my 26-year career in the State Senate. Senator Boscola is blessed to have someone of Jeff's caliber on her staff."

Need I say more?
Update: The flipside of this mailer is located here.

As a Easton area Dem I will NOT vote for Jeff warren. He is what is wrong with the system.

El Warneer and Rogger Ruggles are the only two I will vote for this election for Council.

I wonder how many old folks with no internet are wonder "Whats Lehigh Valley Ramblings?"

"It must be one of those DOT COM Things." lol

Bernie who knew a Irishman could be so influencial to be quoted on a mailer?

El Warner

Not sure how the other E was added.

And a Republican mailer to boot!

All that mailer says is that the republican only want one seat on council. And that seat is for Ruggles! And he deserves it! The man has walked the entire city twice!

I don't fault Jeff for raising money. Every candidate has to raise money and he was honest about it. He could have had them write him personal checks and could have made it look like he was financing his own campaign but he didn't. I won't be voting for him but other reasons.

He should have recused himself from the vote. It's not like he was a tie breaker.

Can you post the other side of the mailer?

Your wish is my command. I will, however, block out the name of the recipient. That's irrelevant.

You are busy man Bernie.

Are you going to have anything on the Allentown City Council race?

What is up with these young candidates like Warren and Pete Schweyer being so sleazy?

Anon 6:58, I'm thinking much the same thing. I did have a post about that race on 10/31. If I have time, I'll do another to express my appreciatioon to Mr. Schweyer for the kindness he showed to minority-owned businesses on Hamilton Street by minimizing their concerns and refusing to even meet with them.

Don't forget Mike Fleck as well. Only the people in easton were smart enought to not vote for him over Panto.

Thanks Bernie, you are the king. I don't like sleaze tactics. They are the reason why more people don't vote.

This mailer was brought to us by Roger Blease, the leader of the Easton GOP and the chairman of Gary Bertsch's campaign. He is obviously a slimeball. He cares about Easton so much that he just built a house in Plainfield Twsp.

I can't say that I'm a warren fan but Blease is alot lower than Warren will ever be. Sorry Bernie.

I can't wait to see what they send out about Panto. It's probably going to be alot worse. It will hit tomorrow for sure. Boy do I wish i could read that bulk mail permit number. Is this a Severson peice?????????????????????????????

Bernie O'Hare said...

It's Permit # 132. Don't know if that's Severson or not, but it looks like the work of a pro.

This is negative, but entirely accurate.

Bernie, Roger Blease is still a slimeball.

It doesn't look like a Severson Piece. Plus, Severson would have thrown in some negative phone calls for free and i don't remember getting any for Warren.

Got it.

I'll find out who the Easton R committee is paying.

If there is a negative on Panto delivered today I have to things to say. First, it will only solidify Sal's election tomorrow and second, I will lose whatever respect I have left for Gary. I was turned off by his arrogance at the State Theatre debate as well as the Chamber of Commerce debate. And I am reminded of what he said at the State -- I am a member of this community and I live here so no, I will not run a negative campaign. Hey, even Mike FLeck ran a clean campaign.

The only thing I have ever cared about is good government.

Whether it is drafting good candidates, or volunteering in any capacity that I can, I choose to be involved. That is directly opposed to those sit around posting inaccurate anonymous messages.

To begin with, quoting the press (hard in this cycle because the papers aren't really covering anything, are they?) is not negative. If pointing out the obvious is a crime. Mea Culpa.

Secondly, I wear many hats, and to assume that I am going to go negative on Sal is just absurd. What would that serve? I like Sal, but I think we need someone new. That's all.

Thirdly: it is a professional piece. Everything I do is. There are no consultants involved. That's a local printer's bulk mail permit available to anyone that would like to send bulk mail.

And I built a house? Where? Ill-informed, ignorate posters who don't know what they are talking about are just that.

You want to talk about something, call me: Roger L. Blease of EASTON.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Mr. Blease,

Thanks for your comment. I happen to agree w/ the piece about Warren. Given the amnount of special interest money he has raised, I'm glad your committee pointed it out. It is factually accurate.

But Permit #132 goes right back to Severson, who incidentally also works for Boscola.

Thanks Bernie,

I won't have anything to do with Severson. As a matter of fact I signed the petition to the State Committee asking that they not use him as he has worked for candididates we do not support.

I don't do negative campaigns. However, I did not want the voters to forget what happened before the primary. It's public record and I couldn't give him a free pass. There's too much at stake. If people want to call me names that's fine. Can you relate?

Roger
