It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it. Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be. The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?"

Tucker Carlson is considered the highest rated, most trusted man on television news. I read an editorial this morning claiming that if Tucker Carlson decided to run for President as a Republican, he would rank second only to Donald Trump in the Primary, easily beating all other Republican candidates. Yet, Fox was coerced to remove him from that channel.
Here’s the reality . . . Tucker Carlson was NOT fired for any lying as accused, he was fired because he was getting too close to the truth.
Wow. Truth. No wonder he was so popular.
This seems to suggest that maybe Carlson has a soul inside of his persona. It's easy for any of us to get caught up in the mob mentality, and wish harm upon our adversaries. ("It's not wrong if our side does it!") I think it's also natural to assume positive virtues are represented by groups we belong to, whether racial, ethnic or religious. This quote, in my opinion, shows that Carlson was self-aware that what he was doing was wrong. Given his position of influence, he should have listened to that little voice inside his head instead of giving in to a lust for ratings and power.

I remember when he was a centrist dweeb on CNN. Bowties and level headed thinking doesn't boost the ratings. Light on truth and high on entertainment value. Kind of like professional wrestling.
He was fired because of statements about voting machines. The statements turned into a defamation issue. Would you fire an employee that cost you almost 800 million? Well it’s not over . Stay tuned.

Carlson is a brilliant man , but he’s not a nuclear guy to figure out energy. Stop paying these people so much money and get normal people on the tv. Your costs go down. .

When all you do is script your spew to the meatheads who eat it up it is easy to build ratings. Reality TV at is most detrimental to the country. When your viewers do not care what is in it but only that they come away feeling validated about their own disbeliefs. A perfect storm of lying to meet the mass dumbifications. It shows you just how pathetic Americans are in many ways. And this goes for so many on both sides. NO wonder the country is in such a state of disarray.

Let's also look at the economics here. At Tucker's peak (before he lost a number of sponsors) the program brought in $70M. Tucker's salary was $35M a year plus whatever costs for his staff. If sponsorship dropped below $50M the amount of profit made could be called into question. After all FOX News is in it for profit is it not?
Firing Tucker is just a very small course correction for FOX News. Peter C is correct above, he did cost his employer a significant sum of money, but he wasn't alone there in amplifying and lending credence to what turned out to be completely false information.
The network sees its demographic base shrinking (viewers are mostly elderly), its seeing cable cord cutting in younger viewers and knows the hand over fist profits from carriage fees passed onto cable customers is coming to an end sooner than later.
Its just business. Tucker was costing them too much money and further investment in him would not be worth it to FOX.
Carlson is a white supremacist. Good riddance.
Yet, despite the all the ugliness of Tucker Carlson and Fox News, you haven't reported on the other story that was making headlines yesterday. Tucker Carlson was so influential and powerful at Fox News, self-proclaiming himself as King-Maker (well, Republican Politician maker), he was actively involved (behind the scenes) in the negotiations to get Kevin McCarthy to become Speaher of the House.
Fair and Balanced news? Yeah, um, no.
BTW, Ray Epps was not an undercover FBI agent who orchestrated the Insurrection on 1/6, as Tucker and most other fake news outlets loved to report. In fact, I never even heard of Ray Epps until he appeared on 60 Minutes last week to defend himself. Sadly though, after watching the segment, I have little sympathy for Epps, and I have even less sympathy for those who bought into "the big lie". Watch the segment below.

When credible reports comes out that Rachel Maddow or Nicole Wallace are/were in active negations with Congressional members to help Nancy Pelosi get elected, I'll stop.

Tucker Carlson is a huge disappointment to his fans only. When he started, he was a huge Libertarian, freedom of both sides. A fierce independent with values. When CNN fired him, he got a little bitter. Then it snowballed and then steamrolled at Fox, when Tucker looked at the almighty dollar.
Much like Metallica, Tucker "sold out". Yeah, tuck, but at what cost?

I dont think anyone brought this up however on 60 Minutes the night before he was fired there was a man who had been leading the charge on the 6th. He said Carlson accused him of working for the FBI . He kept driving that to the point this character having to sell his house . He now lives in motorhome hiding with his wife. He said he has had death threats. And other ominous correspondence from the crazy Carlson fans. Maybe Ruppert didnt want blood on his hands when they find him .You know since he is looking at the 2.6 billion dollars Smartmatic lawsuit. And several others.
7:09- Yes, read the comment 11:09am above. His name is Ray Epps. I didn't know who he was before the 60 Minutes interview, either. But, apparently, he's the #1 scapegoat for causing the January 6th insurrection among conspiracy theorists. This just shows another reason why Tucker Carlson, and the like, are more dangerous than originally thought.
