I've previously told you that Scott Hough, the leading vote-getter in the GOP primary for Northampton County Council, has pulled out of the race. We now know who is replacing him. Amazingly, it's former Exec John Brown, whose re-election bid went down inflame four years ago.
Under Brown, a one-mill tax hike was imposed by his then Republican-led County Council. He alienated the workforce when he drastically reduced medical benefits. Without bothering to consult the courts, he planned to move the county jail to the Gracedale campus. He met secretly with Upper Nazareth supervisors, but denied it when he was confronted. He created a ridiculous bridge building scheme under which he funneled nearly $1 million to a lawyer involved in what turned out to be a nightmare. He never sought County Council approval for this waste of county money.He hired a Human Resources Director who sent her staff to Las Vegas and blew $800 on, of all things, a popcorn machine. His Administrator had no experience in county government but did have several tax liens.
I hope Lamont McClure sends county Republicans a Thank You card.

Given the current guy and his horrible mismanagement of Gracedale and the pandemic, I'd take Brown back in a hot second. My aunt and uncle might still be alive to celebrate their birthdays next week. May they rest in peace.

McClure & Dems are not free from their own sins, but given the choice of the 2, they're the lesser evil and mildly more competent than the slop Republicans are offering. These candidates have ZERO appeal to independent and moderate voters.

At least Brown had Gracedale turning a small profit and a 4 star rating.
Now we are 15 million (not 3 million + intergovernmental energenct subsidies) under staffed and 150+ empty beds.

I knew he didn't have a job when he ran for NORCO executive 8 years ago and it looks like he still doesn't have one. I wonder what could he possibly bring to County Council that will benefit the citizens of NORCO? We all witnessed what he did as executive and I am sure he is voting Lynch

The republicans wanted to sell Gracedale and still do. Stoffa wanted to but needed their help. They never mentioned it when they ran and waited until after the election.
These Republicans' still want to sell or dump Gracedale and like before they will lie and pretend they love Gracedale.
Sorry but if these guys get elected not only will Gracedale be up in the air but a new county prison will end up being built.

One of the worst voting mistakes I ever made was voting for John Brown over John Callahan. I won't ever vote for Brown again.
