In early June, I was able to report a sharp decline in new Covid cases in both Lehigh and Northampton County. They were down to single digits. I was waiting to be able to tell you we were at zero and for several days. Then came the Delta variant, reputed to be four times as infectious as chicken pox. Rates began to climb back up. Then came Musikfest. Although this is celebrated outdoors, few people were following mask or social distancing guidance.
Yesterday, the number of new Covid cases in Northampton County was 94. In Lehigh, it was 90. I am sure that most of this is attributable to Delta, now the prominent variant herein the Lehigh Valley. I am also sure that Musikfest played a role in this community spread.

Why do you hate blacks and latinos so much?
First of all, NOWHERE NEAR a million people attended Musikfest, and 2/3 of those counted attended more than once. To me, Musikfest was not a factor here. I also do not believe the PCR tests are as accurate as we’ve been told.
MUSIKFEST 2021 WITH 1.12 MILLION PEOPLE WALKING AROUND WITHOUT FACEMASKS CERTAINLY WAS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE INCREASE IN COVID-19, ANYONE THAT BELIEVES OTHERWISE, IS A FOOL.
That is a horrible thing to wish on anyone. Having opinions is one thing. Wishing harm is another. That is an example of what is wrong today. Cruel thoughts. I pray you really don't wish harm to others
Musicfest was a superspreader. The pols who were there soaking up the suds are as much to blame. Shame on you all! Money and power, that all they care about.
@5:29 but that is the only thing they will actually react to. And there are many that have had a critically ill loved one but continue to blame others instead of admitting the reality.
These spikes will continue to ebb and flow for years as the virus finds hosts around the globe and mutates.
Sadly because people can't see it, smell it, taste it, they simply refuse to acknowledge it. In a majority of cases, you get it and barely notice it, some do get laid out by it and sadly a few ultimately lose their lives from it. That knowledge just doesn't move the needle for some folks who simply can't wrap their heads around the fact that the world has (and always will) changed around them.
The FDA needs to fully approve the vaccine(s) to remove any hesitancy or excuses, then place restrictions on those who still choose to avoid it. No airports, theme parks, movie theaters, sporting events, schools... Limited employment opportunities and higher health care premiums will also increase vaccination rates.
7:48 has no awareness of how incredibly racist his suggestions are. That's a much bigger problem with our country.
WFMZ's newscasts every day promoting Musikfest didn't help, it depicted a picture of maskless people enjoying themselves at the same time healthcare providers warning people of the health risks and telling them to wear masks and avoid crowds, but instead, they promoted another "super spreading" event.
Delta Variant is surging everywhere. Look at Iceland, twice declared a model for crushing CoViD. It's troubling. Large crowds, lockdowns - doesn't seem to matter. This isn't your dad's animal to human-animal virus. The southern hemisphere is on fire. It's not going anywhere for a long time and few are going to escape it, regardless of our precautions. We're not being told the truth.
@12:29 - Stupidity is color blind. As of this past Monday, demographics show the following unvaccinated rates;
Black = 60%
Hispanic = 55%
Whites = 50%
So it does makes sense that some dimwitted gas lighters would see those #s and start blaming minorities, but those percentages ignore the share of the population those groups represent;
US population #'s
Black = 40M
Hispanic = 57M
White = 235M
So going by raw population of unvaccinated...
Black = 24M
Hispanic = 32M
White = 117.5M
So you can rest easy knowing that mandates and penalties for the unvaccinated would not unnecessarily or unduly burden our minority communities.
Its the flag waving, FOXNews watching, lesser educated rural types who will probably have to bear the burden of these penalties the most.
