Obviously, the actual design of a new jail will be much more costly. But the fact that a master plan for a new jail is being prepared is an indication that Northampton County Executive John Brown knows exactly what he intends to do.
Just last week, Brown downplayed this contract with DLR. He said the contract was for programming, i.e. whether the county was providing drug therapy or job training. "How efficient or inefficient are we in the current facility?" is what he said was the question being answered.
That appears to be untrue. What DLR is preparing is a "MP" or master plan.
This was clearly being kept under wraps until after the election.

How do we get to see these plans we will be paying for?
Bernie, I think it is evident to all but the party fanatics and the ignorant that Brown and his allies on county council have a master plan in their heads and have every intention of following through with it. That plan is an expensive new prison outside of Easton, preferably on county owned land at Gracedale. You and the residents of the Nazareth area got wind of all this before the election and ruined their plan to hide all this until after they were all safely re-elected.
Now they will deny, bluff and outright lie to stay in office. Disgusting!
What a scam! Brown the Clown needs some quick cash to bolster his failing re-election campaign, and will be shaking down these vendors, Fed Ed style for donations. Follow the $$!
Fake news, right haters? Make that "alt-right".
All part of deceit and lying activity of both the executive and legislative bodies that is going on behind the backs of the taxpayers. Fire all of them on election day!
Brown will be at Tuskes Park, 3040 Bath Pike, Nazareth, this Sunday, Oct. 15, at 1 pm. It’s a Q&A session. Other candidates will be there, as well. Let’s get to the bottom of this. The best vote is an informed one. I’d hate to see Nazareth schools suffer from a mass Exodus of residents. However, the school system and safety are what drew many folks to this area. A prison will make this a ghost town.
But the employees stay under paid An d have to deal with all the B/s niceeee
The Gracedale prison plan is a reality and if you doubt it don't cry after the election is over. As one current county official has said, "they will vote for me anyway".
