Guard Who Helped Police Locate Vegas Gunman Was Union Member

Jesus Campos is an unarmed security guard who took on the Las Vegas gunman in the tragic shooting over the weekend. He was shot in the leg when he approached the shooter's room, but was able to give police information over the phone.

Campos belongs to the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America. That union was organized right after Bethlehem Sands ratified their first contract.

Gregg Potter of the Lehigh Valley Labor Council said his group will be honoring Campos later this month.

"He was shot in the keg...", must have been a union fund-raiser! : )

He certainly deserves to be celebrated.

And, given that Nevada is a Right-to-Work state, it is good to know he was a *voluntary* union member. An American hero like him deserves no less than The Dignity of Choice.

Shot in the keg?! You of all people should not be promoting alcohol abuse! LOL. I know it stinks when people chastise you for a typo. All kidding aside, this guy should be honored.

I guess it's the one bright light in the security at Mandalay bay, after all they did miss this guy hauling up weaponry to the 32 floor. Union or not, I call it an overall security failure and certainly not praiseworthy.

The new timeline suggest our union "Hero" was at best poorly trained, at worse, complicit. Hero narratives do help mitigate public judgement and scrutiny of security services and police of errors and misjudgments made early on. It might be why we had a hero narrative being pushed before we new what really happened.
