NorCo Human Resources Director fired 23 Allentown employees in one year, and apparently is trying to beat that record here. Yesterday, just before she marched into a County Council meeting, she fired a Human Services employee who had been under suspension. Her offense? She reported a Supervisor who was asleep at his desk.
I neglected to ask for permission to name this employee, but she is represented by Allentown lawyer Rick Orloski. He accompanied her to this sundown slaughter, but was denied permission to sit with her as she got the ax.
So if you work for Northampton County and get caught sleeping on the job, you might get fired. If you report the person who is sleeping on the job and that person is a supervisor, you will definitely get fired.

She needs to be fired for all the policies she and her staff have broken. Can't wait for the election! It's apparent that Nazareth will vote Brown out.
This is crazy.
So what should employees who have concerns do? Is there anything we CAN do? Management treats us unfairly or is negligent in their duties but if you speak up then it's you on the chopping block.
Accept her [Amy Trapp's] regal authority or simply vote out Brown and crew. I'm sure McLure is keeping notes on these abuses.
I wish there was something we as employees could do. This is so unfair. Many of us reported the situation and all this woman did was try to resolve it. Ms. Trapp should have addressed it. I am sure she was aware of it. Everyone was. PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE. It's time to remove these rejects before anymore harm can be done.
No horse in the race - but there clearly has to be more to this story. If she was already suspended, she could just be chucking grenades on the way out to stir stuff up against those with whom she has an axe to grind... Did she have video or photos of the supervisor sleeping?
Well maybe if everyone would mind your own business we would not this proublem bottom line here is the trapp and her team do what they want it seems to me that we all have to go on the outside for help...when you fire that many people he don't give a dame.....himan resources is suppose to handle this fairly this situation is repulsive get rid of these people
I think it's time for someone to call channel 69. And put this information out there or the morning call everyone seems to be ignoring what's going on here at the county all the unfairness discrimination the singling out that's going on so if the supervisor are tired imagine correction officer when there forced 16 hour shifts
To 10:09, I know nothing about this situation so you MAY be right in saying there is more to the story. However, I do know that HR has a (recent) history of threatening excellent employees with termination for pretty, perceived offenses. HR is not interested in getting to the truth or ensuring fairness in the workplace. It seems they will back management no matter what and employees who speak up for themselves are swiftly disciplined, even when management is in the wrong. Ultimately, the citizens will suffer as county services decline due to the decline of moral and loss of dedicated and knowledgeable workers.
*petty
I know a guy that had pictures of his boss stealing a truckload of floor tile from a local hospital for his rod and gun club. He(the photographer) got fired, the boss/thief got promoted. Apparently this boss wasn't the only member of the gun club.
If your boss is stealing, or sleeping, or padding OT for his conspirators, or whatever, be aware his boss already knows what he is doing, that's why they're in the position they're in. You can be sure they do not want their employees taking pictures of, or speaking about crimes the institution and it's managers are committing.
Just keep your head down and push your broom...stand for the anthem, and be glad you are not in a concentration camp.
Bernie,
I have redd the comment of chucking an axe to grind on the way out, as well as some that think there maybe an issue here? The whole issue here is most humans in charge of other humans use the jailhouse mentality as a work place standard. It creates more than just a hostel work invirionment, but also effects the community as a whole.
Living conditions are intolerable with in this general area as costs have gone up just on survival, not good and in need of a internal adjustment of fittings.
I know first-hand what happens when a correction officer gets caught sleeping. Eventually you address him as Lieutenant!
This is business as usual Bernie, at the prison a female was fired after accusing a supervisor of sexual harassment and inappropriate touching. Email exchanges and pictures all swept under the rug.
Like what happened to captain Collins he stood up for him self and was suspended....oh by the way he is still suspended 3 months now
I have not worked in the County for about ten years (worked there over 30 years). Let me tell you that supervisors and other workers have been known to sleep at work. This is not just in the Brown administration time period. And, workers reporting this behavior were never welcomed because it meant someone had to address the situation. I survived this by doing the best I could to help my clients. The civil service/union is good at protecting incompetent workers. Like the saying goes "nothing new under the sun". I once heard a worker tell a supervisor that she was completing a large picture puzzle because "the puzzle was donated for the agency's clients and she did not want them to be disappointed if pieces were missing". By the way, the puzzle eventually was thrown out when staff got bored with it.
I have deleted a link to a facebook page I am unable to open.
Why couldn’t you open it?
Perhaps I am blocked by the Facebook user. Don't know.
I was told by an ex supervisor of mine that he was told by the head of the public works department to harass me to get rid of me, lawsuit may be coming soon.
Good, reliable employees don’t get let go, fired or “walked out”. So let’s stop the BS.
You must be one of them.....
Great reply by part of the administration
I respectively disagree with you. I to work in the county and know how arrogant and incompetent some of these so-called directors go about their affairs. A lot of the County employees are treated horribly there is definitely and underbelly to it all. The best remedy? Get out and vote and get Brown and his clowns out.
The deputy Warden who was the aggressor involved in that situation also had his cell phone and computer confiscated, due to the fact that that female had email evidence of her own. I wonder whatever happened with that?
Exactly! We all know damn well that some sort of administrator wrote that comment! Got to do better than that!
Not only did Captain Collins stand up for himself but for lieutenants, officers and staff. It seems to me that Keen and Trapp are intimidated by him. What else could it be?
A female was sexually harassed by Deputy Warden and the captain was sexually harassed by the director. And they are the ones that were suspended???
The Captain was sexually harassed by what Director and what proof of that is there?
The morale in Human Services has always been terribly poor, but the last 2-3 years has been horrendous. The tension in the building is so thick, you can cut it with a knife. Managers are pitted against line workers and vice versa. People seldom say Hi or good morning to each other, while walking the halls looking angry or frustrated. I guess with no salary increases for the past three years, overloaded and under-staffed caseloads, and absolutely no recognition for all the good work you do, might have some bearing for the poor morale in that building. It used to be a pleasure to work in Human Services, not anymore, and the Director doesn't seem to care!
Not even close. You know people that were good at their jobs, dependable and reliable? Got called in the managers office and were fired? Give me a break.
Yes,that's how this administration rolls, don't speak your mind or your gone.
She has ruined so many lives. I don't know how she lives with herself.
