A message from a reader:
Just listening to police scanner in office this morning, heard that a water boil advisory was issued to Easton, Palmer Township, Pen Argyl, Plainfield Twp, Saylorsburg, Wind Gap, Forks, Nazareth, Bushkill, Upper and Lower Nazareth, Tatamy, Stockertown.
Boil for at least 1 Min. before consumption.
Update: The boil water advisory is also listed on the Channel 69 news site. Water may contain disease-causing organisms. And I just drank a big bottle of water.
Afternoon Update: The text of the news release, along with recommendations, is located here.

I don't even live in Northampton county but here is what was sent out to us at work...I think it's the official press release
Water Alert
Boil-water advisory in effect for some in Northampton, Monroe
11:28 AM EDT, September 17, 2008
The Pennsylvania American Water Co. is asking customers in parts of Northampton and Monroe counties to boil their water due to a malfunction at one of its treatment plants.
"Because of lower disinfectant levels, there is an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms," the company said in a news release this morning.
The advisory applies to customers in: Easton, Nazareth, Upper Nazareth, Palmer Township, Pen Argyl, Plainfield Township, Saylorsburg, Stockertown, Tatamy, Wind Gap, and Bushkill and Forks townships.
In addition to boiling their water, customers are asked to:
-- Throw away beverages and ice cubes made with tap water.
-- Keep boiled water in the the refrigerator for drinking.
-- Avoid swallowing water while showering/bathing.
-- Provide pets with boiled water after letting it cool.
-- Do not use home-filtering systems in lieu of boiled/bottled water.
-- Use boiled water to treat minor injuries.

Bernie must have taken his yearly shower.that's quite a bit of filth to try and get off, when you are a pig that loves throwing and rolling in the mud.
The troll parade is busy, I see.
Valima,
Thanks for all those tips. I am sure that many people appreciate them.
LOL Bernie!
Those were not my tips.. I have well water, I'm used to funny things swimming around in my drinking water. (J/K about funny things swimming)
That was part of the press release or notification that was sent to every person 'here' at work. :)
totally false and misleading. As a person who works in Easton City Hall we were inundated by people from all over the county. Easton was NOT AFFECTED and the people in the burbs that called shouldhave called their municipal building. Easton water does serve the outlying suburbs but the water was only tainted for those that buy their water from PA American Water and not city water.
Anon 8:12, There is nothing false or missleading about the post. Easton residents who get their water from Pa. American Water must boil their water. The fact that there are two different water supplies does not mean that a water boil advisory should be lifted in Easton. It means that customers should make sure where their water is coming from before drinking it.
As a person who works in city hall, it is your job to help the people who live there.
Eckville Press would like to extend an invitation to Northhampton County residents in their time of need by inviting them to visit Ontelanee Park to fill their water bottles. BUT. There's always a BUT.
The rumors circulating the past weekend, and confirmed in the Northwestern Press, (no affiliation) our beloved park is also suffering from water contamination. Supervisors have learned the water contains high levels of coliform bacteria.
Mr. Najarian has been quite vocal in the past about having the well DEP certified, but being the minority his concerns fell to deaf ears.
So in the interim if you visit our beloved park,
PLEASE DONT DRINK THE WATER!!
