Gregory Steamroller Gets 4 Write-Ins in Bethlehem Mayoral Race

Though he's currently a guest at the State Correctional Institute at Camp Hill, Jim Gregory managed to pick up four write-in votes last week in his quest to become Bethlehem's next mayor. I checked the tally yesterday as elections officials continue the official count.

In addition to buying T-shirts, Gregory also dropped $3,000 for a radio show that was suspended after he was incarcerated for violating a Protection From Abuse Act Order, on the air. So he spent $750 a vote in his race against Mayor-elect Bob Donchez, who was running unopposed in the November election.

That's more money than Callahan!

Another write-in candidate who hasn't been arrested yet, Todd Dietrich, pulled in 41 votes. Willie Reynolds, whom Donchez defeated in the primary, picked up 27.

The rest of the write-ins went to an assorted variety of people, including one vote each for DCED Director Joe Kelly, City Council candidate Chris Morales, Lehigh professor Steve Thode, and Express Times editor Nick Falsone.

There was also one vote cast for Ronald Reagan, Ron Paul, stunt bike rider Jeremy Van Schoonhoven and mobster Bugsy Siegel.

My favorite was the one vote cast for "none of the above". That should be an option in every election, but nobody would ever get elected.

You continue to mock him but you have not heard the last of Jim Gregory. The mouth that roars, will be back. He will get elected to city council and eventually mayor.

He may even continue his political consulting business as his advice and support came in handy for Mr. John Brown. Mr. Gregory signed on early to the Brown and Ferraro campaigns and they both won big.

He won't remain a political prisoner forever!

@ 6:56 - I respectfully disagree. Bob will lead the city for the next 8 years with a talented team of administrative leaders and other professional local leaders to ensure the residents of the City of Bethlehem are safe and fiscally sound!

People always under5estimate Mr. Gregory. He called the Executive race. Mayor Brown owes some of his success to Jim Gregory.

Brown couldn't have been victorious without Gregarious. Riiiiiiiiight.

Greggy wasn't a factor in anyone's decision. He's a legend in his own mind.

@10:25

I doubt it. The fact that he put union presidents on his transition team speaks volumes. Be prepared for masses tax hikes to pay for all the wants of the unions.

5:55, Although you're probably right, Jim is now a political prisoner at SCI Camp Hill.

Gregory is like a real life Tobias Beecher, a white collar worker who gets caught up in the wheels of justice only to wind up being a power bottom to some of the hardest cons in the penitentiary. I truly hope he is in the senior's wing of PC and that Clinton Oxford isn't back in the joint as his cellmate because ol Clinton seemed like he had a real hard on for the Manslab.

I wrote to Jim G on Monday and sent him some stamps, he will roar again people and rest assured once the money I put on his books gets utilized he will be serving up Zagat rated jailhouse menudo and hustling fools for soup packets in 4 handed games of holdem.

Camp Hill is a close security diagnostic center, and it could be that they are trying to figure out what is wrong with him.

Jim Gregory will return and run for office and win. You can bank on it. He is a political force to be respected. He helped get a relatively unknown elected Northampton County Executive.
