Barack Obama and Curious George

Would you call this "cute"? Amazingly, the person who came up with this idea denies he's a racist. "Look at him . . . the hairline, the ears, he looks just like Curious George." That comparison has also been made by a caller to conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who yukked it up before later making a hypocritical apology.

Of course, everyone and his mother are protesting this obvious racial smear. Drudge has picked up on this story, so a gazillion people will see it today, and most will snicker.

Ha. Ha. Black people look like monkeys.

Earlier, I asked whatever happened to the Roosevelts. A reader answers, "We became shallow, superficial and completely uninvolved with anything that makes us the least bit uncomfortable."

I suspect that reader is right.

Again, it's NOT like we didn't know that many THINK like this, it's just surprising that many are becoming so brazenly OPEN about it.
And you WONDER why we do activities like youth boxing in the "hood ? Alot of frustration, my friend, alot of pent up frustration, which starts from birth and NEVER gets any easier.

I understand the frustration, but worry about boxing for kids.

So let me get this straight: the use of this cartoon is automatically a racial slight.

So ... so for the last 7 years, every time someone made the comparision of President Bush to Curious George they did so to make him appear to be black?

Or was it to make the monkey look white?

I am confused.

no, they did it to insult the monkey.

Anon 1:42, Comparing a black person to a monkey is an ages-old, racial slur. You know this.

Three quick points. First, you will never get rid of racism it will always be with us and for a variety of reasons

Second, the President of this nation has been called a lot of things including Hitler, Nazi and more. It is a common attack used by the left wing Progressives that goes back to Mussolini. As a conservative and really more of a classial liberal, I resent those attacks. I will also note that I have not always been kind to those Progressives but I dislike them because they have no moral course.
Third, this is a nation that still has a first amendment and we have a moral obligation to allow people to speak. We do not have to provide them with a microphone yet there are those who give the morons free advertising in a salacious manner.

I asked the question last week: why is a state like North Carolina more progressive than Pennsylvania? The racism exhibited in the PA primary was very troubling to me. 12% of voters admitted that race played a role in their vote. Think about that. They said it out loud. How many did NOT say it out loud?

Mussolini called people Hitler? Was there a rimshot?

Bush was called Hitler by a small minority of uninformed morons. The truth is that the President has slowly removed some of our civil rights and has been invading our privacy. Not Hitler but not American either.

I am a "Progressive" I guess and have a moral course. That's a damn bold statement and one that is made in ignorance.

Is the Clinton/Clinton/Rendell "Some white people will never vote for a black" Cabal behind this?

Liberals long ago perfected the subtle racism of low expectations. This campaign season has shown their overtly racist leanings as they fear Obama is unelectable and want to figure out some way to save themselves from the "black candidate."

And they're supposed to be the good guys on this issue? Ruh roh.

Chris, I don't dispute anyone's right to preach hate under the first amendment. And under the first amendment, I condemn those who utter it.

Anon 4:42, No, this is definitely a conservative. if you click on the links, you'll see. But both ideologies have their fair share of racists, I'll agree.

Anon 4:42 - I think there are 16 million or so "liberals" who disagree with your assertion.

It is fascinating that Mr. Miller cites 'Progressives' like Hitler and Mussolini as 'Liberals'. As two totalitarian dictators they seem to lean more towards the neo-con American Conservative movement, as personified by the modern Republican Party, i.e., I will destroy this Constitution in order to save it.
Please enough with the Hitler and Mussolini references, its a Junior High School debate tactic, overused hyperbole.

Anon 9:44, I'm not 100% sure, but don't think Chris Miller called Hitler a liberal.

Taxpayer
Bernie speaking of voting, I am a taxpayer and I went to Northampton County Courthouse to see when the demonstrations will be scheduled once again on the new voting machines. The machine was moved and I questioned why and where it went, someone told me that the judge ordered the removal of the machine. I hope that the machine will be put back into the courthouse for demonstrations, it is convenient for the taxpayers to do other business in the courthouse and be able to see the demonstration. If this would be the election year that the judges would be on a ballot, Im sure that the machine would still be in the courthouse!

Taxpayer,

I'll certasinly look into your complaint tomorrow and will post about it. I don't know if a judge ordered the machine moved. If so, I don't know why. That building belongs to the people, not the judges. They have every right to make sure they are secure, but no right to disenfranchise voters. Having said that, I don't know whether the judges ordered the machines moved. I'll check. If it's true, I'll ask the court administrator to explain.

Can we compare Obama to the pig, Ferrous? He's not Muslim - no problem there. He's not Puerto Rican - no problem there. He's a newcomer who shows little offense and rarely plays defense. He's very politically correct. He hasn't done well in Pennsylvania ....

Realize that Hitler and Mussolini were both fascists. The Progressives in our nation are really those who support big government and the centralization of same. These Progressives can be and our found in both parties. I would go so far as to say that all of the presidential candidates are Progressives and both parties have their roots in the Progressive Party of the early 20th century. TR brought the Republicans into the progressive wing of that party. Teddy was not fond of the Constitution. He was also the first president to propose universal health care and a national health insurance policy. On the Democrat side, Woodrow Wilson was a major Progressive leader. Take a look at what he did. Income tax amendment, election of senators by the people, Clayton Antitrust Act, Prohibition, Sedition Act, Espionage Act, and the Federal Reserve Act. All of this increased the power of government, took it out of our hands and expanded the bureaucracy. This is what the Progressives have in common and keep in mind that George Bush falls into that group.Read about it at my blog.My link is on Bernie's page Feel free to comment.I believe you will have a better understanding of what has really been going on in our country, but them I'm bias.
Want to really surprise yourself, re-read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. I turn to them constantly. I think both of you as well as others at this blog, are passionate people who know history and understand it but sometimes, myself included, we all forget to do our critical reading.

This has been out there for a long time. Racists!

It is a petty insult. People these days are have reduced themselves to only petty insults, oh and conspiracy theories.

The American public might as well be in diapers, and I dont mean adult diapers either. Diabpers and a bottle, because they sure are acting like babies.

Lot of countries think that Americans are stupid, and I guess they are correct. If people are only using petty insults and many even look like they have temper tantrums, then yes, Americans are stupid. Not all of them, just too many of them.

The curious george thing I am not even talking about, just letting anyone who would twist my words to think it was all just about the design.

My issue is with the whole way people are acting. The racist remarks I am not surprised about. I new they would come. There are many racists in America, many racists around the world. Some were born into racism, some became racist. Racism is just another word for stupid ignorance.

Lot of people also believe what ever the news tells them, I dont know about most of you, but I learned to always question everything, especially the news, regaurdless of who you watch. Too many people now will watch something on the news, then automatically believe that every word of it was true without even looking it up on the computer. I do that a lot and I have found that much of the time the facts were not all their and the story had been spun to make it sound different.
Im saying this because it is a good thing to know. Question everything, you will be better off if you do.

Later.
