Tuerk Wins Allentown Mayoral Race

In a race that really was decided in the primary,Matt Tuerk has defeated Tim Ramos in Allentown's Mayoral contest by a vote of 7,690 to 4,197. Although I did not write about this race, I listened to two debates and one radio interview of the candidates. Ramos struck me as very polished. Tuerk sounded more polished.

Mayor-elect Tuerk first order of business suggestion:
Create a citizen roundtable to work on illegal dumping that affects almost every downtown street.

Expect the NIZ and the way the associated tax monies are disbursed to be quietly changed. and to whose pockets it ends up flowing.

Does anyone have access to the financial disclosures on campaign funding? How much did JB Reillly contribute directly and indirectly?

I was very troubled by reports that Tuerk turned in his campaign finance reports late and then deliberately showed up at 4:25 to turn in the late reports. I like Tuerk and think he will be a better Mayor than Pawlowski, Afflerbach and O'Connell, but this sneaky campaign ploy reflects poorly on his judgment. Apparently, his donor list looks very similar to Ed Pawlowski's, lots of union donations and mostly non-resident donations from parties with suspect motives. Other than that, I think Allentown will continue to improve and that Tuerk will do a good job.

In fairness, Tuerk's reports were late bc his Treasurer was ill. He forwarded a copy of his finances to me on the due date, and I in turn furnished them to the Rs.
