Make Your Last Minute Pitches Here

This is an opportunity for you to make any last-minute pitch you want in any of the races being decided tomorrow here in the Lehigh Valley.  I don't care who you support or oppose.

Vote for Heffner so she pays her bills.

I have received six comments, obviously from one person, making sweeping (and barely literate) condemnations of Democrats. This is a place to talk about specific races and specific candidates.

Attorney Susan Hutnik is running for Magisterial District Judge in Palmer,Forks, and Tatamy. Susan was born and raised in Palmer and graduated EAHS in 1986.

Susan dedicated her entire legal career to our Northampton County Courts. First as a law clerk to Judge James Hogan in 1997, and now as a Senior Public Defender, Susan has appeared in thousands of hearings and trials before every Magistrate and trial judge.

Susan has earned the respect of the Northampton County District Attorney's Office. First Assistant District Attorney Richard Pepper stated "I am confident and the voters can trust that Susan will serve them with the highest standards of integrity and competency."

Susan can hold office on day one. Because she is the only attorney candidate running for this judicial office, Susan is not required to pass a mandated state test to be certified to hold office in January.

Has Lynch announced any members of his would-be cabinet? Are we getting John Brown as his County Administrator (assuming John loses) and Amy Trapp as head of Human Resources? I think the answers to these questions would be valuable information for voters.

@8:00 - He has stated that he will lead by "consultant" as he doesn't know jack shit about anything!

Don't worry McClure will win Cozzy will ensure it..... Northampton County screw crew at its best. Sweep rascal under the carpet nothing to see here right.... Don't believe it then explaine why a staff member would take months with out pay then rather be around the O&M Klan. But of course its not ture cause Bernie says so....

I've voted for both Ds and Rs over the years, but government in Lower Saucon has become dysfunctional and toxic since Banonis and Carocci joined Twp Council last year. Meetings aren't about helping residents anymore, just trying to score political points and attack other Council members. I know there are people closely connected with the township who see the shady things they do but fear retaliation if they speak out. Things have been bad for long enough. Vote them out and vote for the three challengers (Opthof-Cordaro, Gress, and Roney) who might be able to clean house and fix this place.

I encourage the voters of Fountain Hill and West Bethlehem to defy the status quo of the political machine by voting Van Scott for district magistrate. Born and raised in Bethlehem, Van has a demonstrated lifelong commitment to service through the military, law enforcement, and education. He has the qualifications citizens should want in a judge...impartiality, fairness, integrity, and intellect. He is a hardworking individual, who is faithful to his obligations.

Let's do what B O sez we should do. Let's talk about "THE RACE", Since B.O. is not a member of any RACE (including the Human Race) we can let him out of the discussion. Sorry B.O. had to get that jab in there.
B.O. is right on target with most of his issues and B.O.s BLOG is by far one of the best in the Lehigh Valley if not the entire State. Thank you Bernie for keeping us informed and up to date on the issues and the candidates feelings about matters that pertain to us as taxpayers and residents. Keep up the good work.

@8:00 OMG talk about a nightmare scenario!
@8:50 Then Brown would be perfect as his administrator - he could hire consultants to do his job.

McClure wins and the administrators he chose will continue to destroy the workers as they have been for 4 years. Also he together with council will mandate the vaccine. Once that happens we will lose a large amount of employees in the county. Lynch wins, employees will be treated better and he claims he will rely on people who know what they are doing to advise and lead departments. I will vote for the unknown over this administration.

"Earth to 9:37am, come in?" If you have to convince yourself that's how McClure will win, you're out of your mind.

No incumbent in county government deserves to be returned to office after what happened at Gracedale. McClure remained silent as so many died in our backyard. Council was to comfy and cowardly to even meet. When they finally did, it was a jumbled comedy of tech errors. They all did nothing while our family members died, unaccompanied by family, and many not even having proper funerals. Instead of re-election, an investigation should be launched. So much death under these elected officials' watch. And they did nothing.

@1:09…. He will use people that know how to run departments? Like former disgruntled county workers? Or consultants who have no clue about county government. Notice you said “he claims”. Well good luck on that one.

Rumor has it Mr Reynolds has one the election already. Big changes coming to city hall in Bethlum.

Vote for John Kackmar for Bethlehem Mayor. 28+ years of county and city management. Committed to stopping the tax increases. Fully supports our police and first responders.

"Mr Reynolds has one the election already"

If your math is as bad as your spelling, Willie has lost.

I think John K is just different enough to get different results then the all the other cookie cutter politicians. I am definitely will to give him a shot to do something different.

I have practiced law with Maraleen Shields for several years and want to provide one additional plug for her. As qualified as she is on paper, that doesn't reflect the many intangibles she would bring to the bench including a commitment justice and passion for the law. Bernie's summary of her is true to word. In the earlier thread that simply searched by raw dockets where someone was counsel of record doesn't reflect that Maraleen handles highly complicated cases and has a practice well beyond this geographic area. Calling her a "carpetbagger" ignores that she has lived here for some time, has practiced law in this community and raised a family here.

Bernie, I want to thank you for all you have long done with LVR. On one hand it should be pointed out the invaluable service you provide in the edification of our local electorate... all without subscription. A free "press" is essential in our republican system of governance. Yet, THAT is really the unspoken bigger story of this election-- the death of local news sources. Proof of that death this election cycle is that the political "junk mail" from BOTH parties cited Lehigh Valley Ramblings as the news source for their cherry picked one-liners. They seemingly could no longer cite the Morning Call, Express or Press, because they RARELY have any staff reporter to attend meetings or report on local governments in the Lehigh Valley. I remember when I was on our Twp Board there were frequently 2 to 4 reporters, let alone reporting on our larger Valley cities and County government. This is a compliment to you, but a SAD predicament for an educated citizenry. Once you hang up your hat, all that will be left in the Valley are the information silos of social media.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Ovem, I did notice that this blog was cited a few times. I do hope some folks step up to succeed me. I know there are regulars at many meetings and some of them are excellent observers. I appreciate the compliment, but you are right. What's sad is the decline in local news coverage. WLVR and WFMZ especially are picking up the slack.

I disagree anon 4:12, Mr. Heckman was a Director when I had a family problem at Gracedale. I contacted him and he resolved it. He gave me his personal number and said to call him if there were any more problems. He cared and I think he still does.

God Bless America . I hope this isn’t the end my friend.

Yet, Mr. Heckman remained publicly silent while things spiraled so wildly out of control the National Guard had to come in. We can discuss who requested them or not. But they had to be brought in to save one of the deadliest LTCF in Pennsylvania. No incumbent has earned re-election. All political appointees of the current administration should resign and cooperate with an investigation into who knew what and when they knew it. Too many lives were lost to ignore what went on there.

Anonymous said...

Heckman is a politician but he does care about Gracedale as he is present and involved. Unfortunately none will step up in public to admit to the needs. But he does care

7:32 - Pull that cape out of storage and please, by all means, save the day. If you can do better then run, otherwise your opinion is wearing out.

Anonymous said...

Wow 7:32, I hope you are volunteering at Gracedale and giving everyone your awesome solutions. You sound like an angry bitter person. Easy to throw stones at people in the trenches. You should be ashamed of yourself. By the way your politician Lynch would have ensured mass casualties with his no vaccine policy.

Must get Harakal out of office in Whitehall. First tax coverup with his sister the boss of the tax office. Second women had to leave her position because of Harakal-- the township will be sued.We got rid of this guy years ago. His buddies brought him back--people who he hired --and this is what it got us.
