Did Biden Just Deliver a Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal?

When he was a candidate, Trump attempted to vilify Joe Biden as a "Sleepy Joe" who hid in his basement from the pandemic. He was ridiculed for wearing a mask and was criticized as both corrupt and incompetent for failing to get anything accomplished during three decades of public service. Now he's President Joe, and has an average 56% approval rating. He's actually on the verge of hammering out a bipartisan infrastructure deal, something he never could have accomplished without his decades of experience.

You might recall that Trump was supposed to do this in his first term. He actually campaigned on that issue. He explained his expertise: "I own buildings. I'm a builder; I know how to build. Nobody can build like I can build. Nobody. And the builders in New York will tell you that. I build the best product. And my name helps a lot." He did announce a $1.5 trillion plan in 2018, but walked away instead of compromising like Biden did.

Biden is an adult.

But that former "doctor" of Trump's claims that Biden needs a competency check. ROTFL

Yes Biden is doing a great job

Not sure. I heard him threaten nuclear weapons against US citizens, though. Racist Uncle Touchy is really something.

No question there was a deal. But, two hours later Biden stated that he would sign the negotiated infrastructure bill after signing a bill repealing the Trump tax cuts. That probably killed the deal. Great Negotiator? Too many extremes pulling in different directions.

I'd check Rasmussen for approval ratings for Biden. Gallup's weighting (D/R/I) is notoriously D-heavy, which explains their comical performance in the last three election cycles. Those ratings are inflated. It's best to have a wide variety of sources, unless you're cherry picking to make a point, of course.

Rasmussen puts Biden at 51, much higher than Trump ever was.

48%
And he isn't signing yet. if ever. And what about taxes and... Where you getting your info? CNNLOL?

Careful! That pesky TDS seems to be flaring up again. Maybe ask Sleepy Joe why his vaccine for that annoying disorder doesn't seem to be effective. Six months later, most Dems and Lame Stream media are STILL suffering.

Pelosi already stated no deal unless House and Senate go through reconciliation process. So no deal yet.

The daily Presidential approval rating from Rasmussen shows Biden at 51% as of 6/24. https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/current_events/politics/prez_track_june24

When you run around screaming nonexistent election fraud and have to have rallies every five minutes in support of your cult idol, I think we know who is deranged.

I do, along with numerous other news sources I fdind more credible. Here is what Fox says: https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/bipartisan-senators-pitch-biden-infrastructure-compromise

Uh oh. A fake news poll by Fox puts Biden at 56%.

Banker, As I said, we are on the verge of a deal. Of course it has to go through reconciliation.

War is infrastructure. CRT is infrastructure. Everything is infrastructure. Get ready. The cornucopia overfloweth. Happy days are here again. It's a good thing we have this huge surplus. Oh wait ...

From the details I've read it sounds like everyone wins and its a good compromise. Bernie Sanders will be a little pissy about it, but the focus is one roads and bridges that EVERYONE uses whether they're Democrats or Republicans.

Its almost like the Executive and Legislative branches are working for the people of this country - seems a little weird, but I like it.

Trump highest approval rating was 53% on Rasmussen. But, that is not the number to follow. The critical number is the difference between strongly approve and strongly disapprove. Biden’s numbers are not impressive. Nor were Trump’s.

TDS = Trump Detachment Syndrome

Racists and losers who care way too much about national politics are suffering and struggling with this affliction. For as little as a cup of coffee per day, your donation will go towards providing these brain addled simpletons with flags and signs bearing their heroes name that they can proudly and gaily display on their homes and vehicles.

The only reason Trump's infrastructure bill didn't pass was a phony Russian hoax that was promoted by the Democrat party as an excuse for EVERYTHING.
The Dem's argued that most all of the bill was either a Russian gift or a white supremacy gift.
They garnered the press to do the dirty work and the American public believed it.
Maybe we can all get back to taking things for face value, rather than made up stories and lies that get spewed on cable news networks that fit our desired belief.
Enough is enough.
Fix my roads, build my bridges. Keep America great and its citizens believing in our nation. Its simple enough.

Trump didn't compromise. And the democrats were so eager to help him get things done!
Haha.

No matter who gets credit for the deal, the re story is in the giveaways and other BS buried in it. Both sides line their own pockets through putting give aways in it to their key backers. The American public should be allow to go through a bill like this in detail and call out and prosecute anyone who put in and anyone who benefits from non transportation related trash in it.

Think back to the VOCIV Bill and all the crying that went on on both sides about all the BS which should not have been in it. I expect to have similar BS in this.

A pox on both houses, as the bill doesn't outline how it will be funded (there's a lot of the old "route out waste, fraud, and abuse" which never happens). Dems are also speaking of so-called "human infrastructure" which includes all kinds of goodies that have nothing to do with infrastructure. If more money fixed infrastructure, PA drivers would be traveling on gold plated highways by now. Instead, we're #2 in spending and #50 in road quality.

@12:19 The former "doctor" you refer to was also the doctor for President Obama. tee-hee. If it isn't obvious to you, spend a day at a retirement home and compare what you see there to what you see on the old picture box.

Biden is doing a much better job than Trump--keep it going Joe

Anonymous said...

Biden is holding Republicans in Congress hostage by stating he will NOT sign this ‘bi-partisan’ bill until the Republicans attach it to a different bill, the Reconciliation Bill that Republicans do NOT want because it would enable Democrats to push through legislation much easier by requiring fewer Republican votes. Not to worry, Democrats. This Republican Party, under both McCarthy and McConnell, will quickly fold to Democrat demands.

Anonymous said...

Bernie, my point is Pelosi will screw it up. So while I think this deal is ok, and a hell of a lot better than the one the Ds started with, it won't happen.

Walked away? Baaahaaaaaa!! Trump was NEVER allowed to be a President, when he wasn't being impeached he was being criminally investigated and sued for every election promise he wanted to do. Maybe if he were left alone by Pelosi, Shumer and the other village idiots he would have been able to accomplish what you claim "Sleepy Joe" is about to do.

Don’t look now, but part of Biden’s plan to get him to sign this infrastructure bill is to include in the bill is CANCELLATION of Trump’s 2017 Tax Plan! Although everyone’s lowered tax obligation under President Trump, I can say, altering that 10 year Trump Plan will cost me THOUSANDS of dollars going forward. Oh, I’m NOT a business owner, just an average Middle Class filer who uses the Short Form.

This design as a whole has been on farce after another since TDS first rode down the escalator. This administration local and alike nationally are one big joke after another. The circus has been great except for the shut down.

Bernie O'Hare said...

4:13 Stop the nonsense and outright lies. Biden has made clear there will be no tax hike for anyone earning under $400k. The Rs wanted to pay for infrastructure by raising the gas tax, which would hammer middle income families.

What's your answer to 9:58AM? Impeachments my arse.
All hoax and lies.

That's because Biden's not calling the shots. Someone yanked his chain pretty quick.

Anonymous said...

LOLOL- you're funny.

Biden broke his word two hours after this was announced. Try to keep up. There will be a bill. It won't be bipartisan. Rs will run for midterms on its wokeness and wastefulness, and that so little was actually infrastructure. Biden lied two hours after saying his word was good. He doesn't know what day it is. But his faculty lounge handlers call the shots and they got serious blowback from their party's woke wing the second it was proposed. No bipartisan deal. Ds will be Ds and have to hope it goes smoothly, which won't happen in 16 months, while the cruel tax of inflation crushes everyone. Want some plywood? Waiting for steel and circuit boards? Had enough? We'll see.

Until politicians are required to pass a background check, pass a security clearance for the level of information , they will receive, and adhere to common law; we will continue to have all this crap and the petty/ bull sh++ bickering going on.

Face it NO matter which side you are on if you truely and honestly open yourself to facts you should be able to realize that most politicians and most of their key supporters are just simple thief's, dirt bags and skum. And it is getting worse. It is a classic case of generational degradation and those that have thinking they need to have more and more.

Bushes, Clinton, Trump's are all tied to questionable profiteering off the government, criminals, and accusations. And it goes deep into their families. I left out Obama because I am not sure of his lineage but I am certain people on this blog can most certainly spout accusations and some even provide facts.

This has been an ongoing deterioration of the United States of Americas by a group or groups trying to continually skim off the country to line their own pockets. George W, Bill and Hillary, Obama, and all of the Trump were not authorized true security clearances because of their questionable history and falsehoods on their reporting information.

And many of the current sitting representatives and senators are in the same Cesspool of lying and country destruction.

Until we as the American people wake the F+++ up , get our heads out of our butts, come back together, and get rid or the blight that is our current political representatives we are doomed to continue the spiral into something other then the best nation in the world.

@ 7:45 just so you know inflation is not caused by what is going on today it is caused by what went on 9 to 24 month prior. It takes that long for increases to flow through the supply chain system thus raising prices hence inflation. Hmm who was in charge then?

And by the way I am not saying that Biden's BS won't cause further inflation but blame the blame on where it started for now.

I also expect that the transportation bill will further contribute to the bloat that politicians and their key supporter continue to skim from for their own benefit under the guise of helping America when in reality they are screwing all of us.

No one. I repeat, NO ONE reading this blog knows what exactly is in this so-called Infrastructure Bill. It is, at least several hundred pages long. No doubt, not even one member of the so-called Bi-Partisan Team has read through it all!

But, when one political party speaks of changing the 2017 Tax Plan, expresses their need to pass this thing by a simple majority through Reconciliation, then holds all those ‘non-infrastructure’ related demands over the other political party as a requirement to signing. Well, there is NO Bi-partisanship, and NO plan.

Maybe it’s better to wait a short time until the 2022 Election is held before passing such a gigantic amount of spending. Hopefully, at that time one of the political parties will hold a meaningful majority control, rather than this 50/50 stuff. What’s the rush?

@12:42 I believe you are right that Biden is not really calling the shots. Just like when Trump was in office he did not call the shots. And when Obama was in office there were others and under George W it was Daddy's crownies and Cheney's cronies. And so on.

To be honest Obama has been the toughest for me to ferret out who the connection lead to that could be his perceived string puller was.

9.36
and the 2017 tax plan was passed how?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Cuts_and_Jobs_Act_of_2017
"The House passed the bill on November 16, 2017, on a mostly-party line vote of 227–205. No Democrat voted for the bill, while 13 Republicans voted against it.[187][188] On the same day, companion legislation passed the Senate Finance Committee, again on a party-line vote, 14–12.[189] On November 28, the legislation passed the Senate Budget Committee, again on a party-line vote.[190] In the early morning hours of December 2, 2017, the Senate passed its version of the bill by a 51–49 vote. Bob Corker (R–TN) was the only Republican senator to vote against this version of the bill and it received no Democratic Party support."
So where was the rush in 2017?

It is sad to see Trump cultists hope that a much needed infrastructure plan fails. They would rather see a bridge collapse than see an bipartisan group get things done.

Incorrect. Biden clarified that is not what he meant.

It was once explained to me every president is like a decider. By that I mean each are presented with options. The president then chooses the best options from all those presented to them by many of the so-called experts involved This, unlike Trump who made up his own decisions mostly ignoring the advices given to him.

So in other words you don't have to be the brightest bulb in the room. Rather a president who puts the country first and exercises good judgment over his own limited personal abilities.

Can we fix bridges and roads or do we have to include the NEW HUMAN infrastructure also?

Anonymous said...

@9;37 follow the money or power stroking's. During trump Russia was trying to call the shots however the money players like that made big bucks off him like private equity people, defense department, and real estate people the property owners/landlords & especially slum lords. I have not read all the executive orders in awhile but they point us in a direction. Typically the big business people Trump griped about the most I think made the most.

Under Biden I have not fully figured out who he is guiding although it appears that it is the politicians and their cronies who skim off the system.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Unless you are woefully uninformed, you should know that the deal reached includes basic infrastructure as well as broadband.

Sorry. You are correct Bernie. I can't believe I had to say that!! Ugh. But I do read your blog because it is at times informative and also comical. One sided mostly. But I do apologize.
