GOP Exec Candidate 100% Against Vaccine

Lynch with Tom Carroll,
identified as a racist
in his DA campaign.
Pennsylvania requires school children to obtain a wide variety of vaccines for diseases extending from measles to polio. There are exemptions for medical or religious reasons or on the basis of strong moral or ethical conviction. I am aware of no effort to make the Covid-19 vaccines mandatory on a state or federal level. Employers may have the right to require workers to be inoculated, but few have done so.  Nevertheless, an anti-mask anti-vaccine group calling itself Health Freedom Pennsylvania rallied outside the capitol steps in Harrisburg to decry the "medical tyranny" of the three coronavirus vaccines currently approved for emergency use. Steve Lynch, the GOP nominee for Northampton County Executive, was the final speaker.

Lynch, who never spent a day in the military, referred to himself as an "absolute constitutional patriot" who is "100% against" the vaccine. He made the following points

"Bejing Biden [is] sleeping in the basement 80% of the time" "

"We have a mass murderer as a Governor" ... "Rachel Levine and Tom Wolf are mass murderers" ...  "Why aren't they having criminal charges pressed against them?"

"Our government is infiltrated by bureaucrats that have been bought and paid for by China"

"The Supreme Court is a joke"

"All my conspiracy theories are coming true" "They do not have the authority to tell you what you're going to put into your bodies. Stop listening to them."

"[W]e're not violent"

If Steve Lynch were county executive when Covid-19 hit, Gracedale's census would be zero.

This is very illuminating. Having read your past accounts of the county government, it appears there is a disturbing trend. In cities you have a Mayor and in the state a governor and that makes sense with a strong legislature. In the county why do you need an all powerful County executive? Your last sentence is telling. If Lynch was Executive with Covid all of Gracedale would have died. That is very troubling.

It doesn't matter if it is McClure or Lynch or anyone else no one person should be so powerful to control an entire county. Based on your reports it appear that the county legislature is extremely weak and it is the executive who makes all the decisions and does what ever he or she wants.

I can see the need for a county manager who manages the day to day operations but they should be accountable to the county legislators. It is bad enough Presidents and Governors do what they want, you don't need another all powerful executive in local government without any news coverage they could get away with murder. I see and hear about McClure all over TV and on constantly social media, I was unaware anyone else had much involvement in the county affairs as he does.

It may be time for the county to review its laws and make the changes so no one should fear who is elected county executive.

Don’t anyone be so quick to call this guy names and make other immediate denials of his statements. Every one of those opinions has some validity. Like this person, I, too, am unhappy with the way things are going with this federal administration as compared to the previous one. America is witnessing changes that absolutely make us weaker and more vulnerable to abuse.

It's almost like Lynch is doing McClure's job for him for this election. Shame on Lee Snover for putting this delusional, out of touch goober up for county exec.

In any other election cycle the time would be ripe to claw some offices and posts back, but the GOP is going to get its ass handed to them in November because of this ding dong.

2 morons in that picture, when will they just go away?

For those who would like to read an opinion on the unfortunate political influence in play throughout the Covid-19 matter, I suggest the recent piece by the brilliant Victor Davis Hanson titled, “Never Let a Plague Go to Waste.”
These days, it is a good idea to understand the political motivation behind decisions that affect every one of us. I completely accept any skepticism about what this nation is going through.

This guy appeals to the lowest common denominator of uneducated and gullible losers. Come to think of it, I can say the same for his hero, Donnie Trump.

How are you any different then him? What you just stated is your opinion, and what he said is his opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Another right-wing radical idiot. Too extreme for the sane Republicans. Other than fear mongering and conspiracy theories, he has no plan for addressing any county issues that may exist.

2:39, This is not about the power of the Exec. That is a subject for another day. It is about installing a QAnon in office, strong or weak.

Please keep bringing to light what this guy is saying. If it weren't so dangerous, it would be laughable that anyone steeped in this kind of ignorance would even be considered for public office. I am cautiously optimistic that the voters of Northampton County will reject him and his views in overwhelming numbers in November. BTW, I am a lifelong Republican, but will not be voting for Mr. Lynch. Lee Snover and the county Republican Party should be ashamed of themselves for endorsing this buffoon.

8:25, You are deflecting away from the topic. This is not about the lockdown or mistakes made along the way by government officials in combating a very real pandemic (not a plague). It is about a complete lunatic running for an office about which he knows nothing to administer a county about which he knows even less. He talks about mass murder. This no-mask anti-vaxer and his policies would have killed everyone at Gracedale.

He has me blocked on Facebook although I've never commented there. But several people he has not blocked update me. He is going to get a lot of votes simply bc he is the R nominee. He could even win. Let's face it. Although I like to write about county government, there is very little about it that is sexy. Lynch and his demagoguery will appeal to extremists and most Rs will unwittingly vote for him. McClure needs to peel away about 10% of the Rs and try to convince Dems that this is no sleepy race. They need to vote. If Lynch is elected, and he could be, God help Gracedale.

We need to get a lawyer who will sue him for everything he is worth and everything his family is worth and then start suing his supporters one by one. It is illegal for a politician to block anyone from their social media when they use it for any political forum.

As far as him being a patriot. He is the lowest form of scum available. Just like his hero Trump. Trump has said he disrespects military POW regardless of the reason. Trump has said he thinks the military are full of idiots, He has said anyone that joins the military is stupid. He also stopped progressing benefits for the military during his tenure and also cut many others. Any military person who supports or respects either of them is a traitor and fool that should move to Russia and join their military so they can be truly ruled they way they prefer. By a dictator!

he has banned me from his personal page, not his political page. I believe he has that right.

Neither party is quite as crazy as its nuts, and both sides are chock full of them. McClure oversaw the worst LTCF culling in the state. He had to beg for the National Guard to save our seniors. You may conjecture about Lynch's potential handling of Gracedale - which didn't and won't ever happen. But we have actual performance by McClure to evaluate, and it was horrible, cruel, and very deadly.

first two commenters sound like bots.

Anywho, what do any of his rants actually have to do with running the county? It's all national level red meat for the wild animals.

I give him high marks for how he responded to the virus. First, he was among the first of the nursing homes to stop visitors in an effort to stop community spread. Second, he scoured the country for PPE at thew nursing home, building a good stockpile. Third, he did not admit Covid-19 active residents until they tested negative twice. Fourth, I believe his was the first or among the first of the nursing homes to establish an isolation unit for those who were afflicted. Fifth, he enlisted the help of employees in other departments. Sixth, he certainly did beg for help from the National Guard and was successful in getting them here. This helped both residents and staff. Seventh, he offered hazard pay to Gracedale staff, recognizing their hard work. Eighth, when the vaccine become available, he established clinics at the nursing home to inoculate those who were willing. Ninth, he offered workers a cash incentive to get the shot. As a result, the vaccination rate at the home is much better than at other nursing homes.

The ravage of this disease on the frail and elderly was horrible to witness. McClure did everything in his power to prevent and limit it. Lynch's anti-mask and anti-vax views would have killed them. That's just the way it is.

Gracedale during covid had it's issues but did try hard as you mentioned in unfathomable circumstances. However. Now they have been repeatedly unable to meet staff requirements of department of health. They are informing them and hopefully have stopped admissions but. . And it's a big one ....again no long term plan to deal with no staff. They have closed units but McClure needs to step up and do more. Close more units until staff can be hired and will stay.

Time to return to the commissioner form of county government. It is a bust in Northampton County.

Last week, the Human Services Committee met. In response to hard questions by John Cusick, Gracedale Administrator Jennifer Stewart-King advised that nurse to patient care hours are actually above the state minimum and are higher than what is reflected in CMM web page. Unfortunately, that page has not updated for some time. So if Gracedale is unable to meet the staffing requirements of the state DOH, this is something that happened in the last seven days. But to what I think is your larger point, the home has struggled in attracting and retaining staff. It has done quite a bit there. It offers tuition, advertises, has adopted more staff friendly schedules, pays differential and has taken other steps that escape my little mind at the moment. The one thing it has failed to do is offer a more competitive salary. This is what Gracedale needs to do. I have maintained this for years aND have spoken to union reps who agree with me. You need to pay people more and steps should be automatic.

My children's pediatrician's office has had a sign in the waiting room for years stating, "This office required every patient to get vaccinated. If you refuse to have your child vaccinated, you cannot be a patient here and you must find another Doctor". I asked the nurse, one time, why the they put up this sign. Exasperated, she said, "We simply got tired of arguing with parents about vaccines and trying to convince them that vaccines are beneficial.

Every Doctor's office should post a similar sign. Seriously, when have we, as a society, stopped listening to Science and relied on Qrazy conspiracy theories?

If we never questioned the science we would still be drinking cocaine, giving kids cough syrup with heroin, spraying people with DDT,and smoking the brand of cigarette that our doctors recommended. Question everything or blindly follow it's up to you.

Anonymous said...

Blind questioning is no better than blind obedience. We have plenty of evidence that the vaccines are safe and effective and COVID is bad.

It's too early to see the real side effects. The covid vaccine is a human experiment and people are taking the jab out of fear or false pretenses that you are protecting someone else. You have a 99% survival rate from covid. I have an autoimmune disorder and survived my covid diagnosis with no problem. Why did the world shut down like it did over this? Why do we have cancer and diabetes medicine that costs billions a year? That medicine isn't handed out for free even though you WILL die if untreated. All I'm saying is something is wrong with this whole thing. Common sense and my instincts go against this narrative being sold to us....with our tax dollars.

Steve Lynch has no problems injecting illegal anabolic steroids in his butt cheek, but a life saving vaccine? NO WAY!

Hypocrite.
