The first of these, started by Phillip Cameron two days ago, calls on Donald Trump to pardon Fed Ed because he "did what was needed to be done, in order to run the criminals out of Allentown, and bring in much needed growth and investment."
As of midnight, it has attracted 139 signatures.
The second, started by Dean Smith the following day, argues it's "time to send a message to ALL politicians, that they are held to the same standards as every other citizen of the United States of America!"

Phillip Cameron, an advocate for corruption and misdeeds in City Hall, is a prime example of a "Fed Ed" sycophant and a uninformed voter found in Allentown today. It is people like him that makes "Fed Ed" proliferate in politics.

In the private sector the best practice here would be to transfer all of the departing employee's authority to someone who won't be leaving. Access to vital company systems and any sensitive information would be terminated.
If Allentown's charter continues to allow a guilty mayor to remain in office between conviction and sentencing, it should at least strip him or her of any significant authority. If Fed Ed was a danger before, he's even more of a danger now. Even with higher scrutiny.

In private sector even when you give them your two week notice most will now walk you out to prevent any issues let alone being convicted.

I hope the Judge is a Christian and asks himself, what would Jesus do. We must have love and mercy in our hearts. Vanquish hate and vengeance. The Mayor is guilty but we have all transgressed. It is time for healing and a sign of love and forgiveness.
The judge should show mercy as a sign of peace.

Just saw the First Lady of Allentown is inquiring about full time jobs and whether City Council will allow her health insurance, please stop the madness already.
I believe that if she and her husband are unemployed, she and her family would be entitled to Obamacare. I would not want to see her, her husband or her children deprived of health insurance. But I think it is available. I am not trying to be a smart ass, but would recommend she discuss this issue a swell as possible employment, with some of the church leaders she knows. I suspect they would be very knowledgeable. She apparently has a master's degree in social work, and might be able to put that education to good use. She should also consider relocating as it might be difficult for her here.
So nice of you to show compassion for Ed and his family after crucifying him on your two-bit blog for years.
Mercy would be the judge giving the mayor community service. He is a graduate of a bible college and could be of great service in the community. In jail you would have to pay for your vengeance on him. As a person of Faith he could help teach others of the perils of sin. It would be a healing and teachable time and ministry.
That is the most appropriate punishment.

There is only one hitch in your fairy tale - Ed is not contrite, and lied on the witness stand. If he plead guilty I would be more willing to at least consider the argument. Toss the book at him and let him rot.
Mrs. P has some nerve asking City Council to keep her health insurance after many city employees were terminated with no health insurance remaining and left to fend for themselves.
When he was indicted, his message was "I am innocent and let's let this play out. I look forward to providing my side, the truth".
He has now had a six-week trial.

Mrs. P is looking out for her family with her request for an extension of health benefits. I'm sure Council won't agree. Best case -- pay him for unused sick time, if City regs allow it -- and then the family can use that money to extend health benefits for up to 18 months via COBRA, the same as any departing employee. If the City health plan was procured smartly, paying 100% of the premium under COBRA should be affordable.
