How John Brown Can Win His Next Election

Just make sure Marta Gabriel is in every shot of him, and he wins. Even I can't screw up a picture of her.

What is the Honorable John Brown doing standing next to the next state senator in Pennsylvania?

Bernie O'Hare said...

Hmmm.

Vapid and self promoting vessel of Toomey at the moment. Just what PA needs. Another Republican state senator.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Not a smart idea to take anyone lightly, given the D party track record. You just might be the one who is vapid. The difference between you and her is she has too much class to do what you just did. Instead of being a party of haters snd smears, try standing for something.

She is a terrific person.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Yes, she is, and I say that as a D.

The self-tribute to teh feeders, bolted to the wall behind her, is more ugly than she is pretty, unfortunately.

Clem, are you opposed to what is essentially a revenue neutral facility that enables the county to deliver mandated services more efficiently to 18,000 people? I thought you were a conservative. I heard about it today. Before this consolidation, there were all kinds of inter agency referrals and trips from Wolf to Bechtel. This eliminates that and saved you $ on services we are required to provide.

Bernie your comment of 12:06 is bullshit just more tripe you repeat for Stoffa, Mohr and Gentile.

This building will take money from services as the cost escalates every year. But it is a nice building.

Bernie O'Hare said...

The $ spent on the building's lease amounts to. 0.04% of the budget, and no, you can't use pass thru grants for human services to make those payments. The county will have that money out of savings generated by an end to referrals and constant trips between Wolf and Bechtel. This is actually a wise use of taxpayer $. It delivers both service and efficiency. The only vote against this came from a council member who has a parochial interest in Easton, to the exclusion of everywhere else.

Yeah, I'm more than opposed. Those numbers never hold, more government sounds good today bullshit, we get stuck with the bill tommorrow. I never drink the kool-aid, no matter who is pouring.

This is the best local blog I've ever seen, for many reasons. But you have got to stop buying into the pitch just cuz it makes you feel good. Stop, think, and really really ask yourself when these car salesmen have ever kept their word. It is more readily seen at the Federal level, but the fuckers who draw goverment checks, and their consigliere, from Plyler to Mohr, lie like a Persian rug.

Trust at your own risk. I know them for who they are.

By now, you've seen my post on the other thread so. I am conservative, but not neocon, like the bullshitter new exec who got our votes simply because we wanted to keep a sleazebag out of office.

Clem, as a side note, your comment went into sp again. I just don't get why that happens to you. There were a few others you must have made in the past week. Sorry.

Also, I would argue that if you want less government, you should support this. Consolidation leads to more efficiency. Employees were pointing out that they no longer have to drive back and forth between buildings. This means more time to work, less waste of gas and auto expenses and better service. Some very conservative Rs like Barb Thierry supported this project.

If you oppose human services outright, that is something you need to take up with the state and Feds.

The spam thing is on my end. I've upgraded all my computers and am running IE 11 on everything, which is a total SNAFU. One think I noticed is that my comments come throught fine if your validiation is all numeric. Alpha stuff looks goofy and I probably don't get it right.

Oh, well, only three years till my last is free of the PSEA terrorists, then I can go live, which will be liberating, indeed!

Take it up with the Feds? Yes, the FEDS. You can always trace it to the FEDS, though our opulence is squarely on teh local feeders who, regardless of party, love to emulate the big leaguers.

I believe they still have to drive to the courthouse and to their clients, don't they? Seems to be another false analogy.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Trips to the courthouse are infrequents. Trips to clients are frequent. Also frequent are intra agency referrals. That used to necessitate trips between Wolf and Bechtel. Those trips are no longer needed. So it's no false analogy. But I realize facts can be annoying to those whose minds are made up.

"a parochial interest in Easton, to the exclusion of everywhere else."

He was the only one smart enough to be looking out for not only the taxpayers but the people who actually receive services. This megadome will suck all the money form them.

He could start by being a bit more transparent.

How can anyone justify derogatory remarks about this woman? I can believe that some people that make criticism about her do not possess her integrity. She is viewed by some others as a cold steel I-beam rapped in velvet and certainly she is no ones "puppet".Good day all!

Bernie O'Hare said...

"He was the only one smart enough to be looking out for not only the taxpayers but the people who actually receive services. "

No. He pretty much discounted and minimized the very real concerns raised by CYF workers at Wolf. They were concerned about the children who come there. All Bib Werner cared about was keeping the county tied to Easton. He downplayed the concerns for the people who need these services. It was parochial thinking from a man who betrayed that kind of thinking again a few months later in a ran aimed at LVEDC CEO Cunningham.

I think Bob Werner wondered what happened to al the building maintence money that had been collected for eight years. Where did it go since it wasn't spent on the building it was intended for.

He was the only one sharp enough to be asking the right questions but the koolaide BS about caring by overspending on a new monument was too great.

Bernie O'Hare said...

This is the second time you claim Werner was the only one sharp enough to ask the right questions, except earlier, it was about something else. Now it's bc the County did a poor job maintaining the building. No shit. he has been there two years. Others, who have been there far longer, are well aware that the County and any government is bad at maintenance. This is no sudden revelation. That's primarily bc government will postpone work that should be done bc another wheel is squeakinglouder. Last year, for exampole, money that should have been set aside for Gracedale's kitchen was instead spent on Sharon Davis' Main Street program. Werner voted to divert the money. Months earler, he complained about the diversion of money from Gracedale.

His sole interest at Wolf was keeping the County there. Never mind that low-paid workers there have to suffer the indignity of a commuter tax. Never mind what caseworkers themselves had to say. His thinking is parochial, and the evidence of that is that he was the sale vote against this building.

If he were so interested in making sure that we do better maintenance, I'd expect to see him at Phillips' capital projects committee. I am almost positive he was absent. But he wasted everyone's time during a Council meeting with ridiculous questions about boilers. The same meeting at which he insulted Don Cunningham, the Exec and Phillips.

I'll grant that he generally works hard, but is too parochial and betrayed a mean-spirited attitude a few weeks ago that I did not see before.

Werner, incidentally, had no problem accepting accolades at the dedication ceremony. He was there and his is one of the names on that plaque that some idiots think is the sole reason for this project.

Clem @ 12:49

Clem - in that post you claim to be a conservative. Sorry to say but based on your posts I have to conclude that you are definitely not a conservative. You are a nihilist who believes there should be no local government and feels the best way to advance your position is to insult everyone who works for local government by calling them "trough feeders".

A real conservative recognizes reality, proposes actual solutions to problems and has the skills to get them enacted.

Why don't you give that a try before you describe yourself as a conservative again.

Bernie O'Hare said...

This is a fair criticism, Clem. The true conservative recognizes that the County is mandated to provide these services, and should respect an effort to provide them efficiently. A true conservative does not hate those less fortunate than he, and does not assume they have the worst motives for seeking help.

Peter J.Cochran said...

True Bernie but, the services should be proactive and not subsidizing complainers. You need social help, Ok but the terms are ------------ and you as a precipitant WILL do the following to retain contact at public expense. The paper shuffle that appears to be in terms of 'mountains' should be reduced. My parents are 84 and like 84's they have problems of coarse. They have never had to use the court house except for when they bought property in 1956 If it was not in existence ,they would not know the difference except for county taxes. OLD PETER.

Perter, when a child is being physically or sexually abused, there needs to be someone there who can help.

Peter J.Cochran said...

Bernie , children s area out of my issue complexity now . No child should ever be without protection or an abused parent and child have an way out!Agreed. I and probably you too would never allow a child to be abused. Children and Youth at NCC have in the past given me very good response when needed during my former State Constable duties. This office ALWAYS responded properly to the needed issues. Thanks Mag!Your the best.

Look, this will play out one way or the other. History shows us that government only grows after the latest big cure-all "cost-saving" expense. History also shows us government, this local one in particular, isn't real skilled at taking care of buildings and managing capital projects and assets. We will see.

My use of the term Troughfeeder is intended to advance nothing, Oracle. If it insults, tough shit. I, and those who believe true conservatism is the pursuit of individual liberty and to engage only the most limited, least expensive, least intrusive government possible, are insulted with every self-aggrandising ceremony, proclaimation, unanswered and unreturned phone call, locked door, money and time-wasting careless error, mandate, and the scads of examples of misconduct, malfeasance, petty turf wars and lawsuits, nepotism, cronyism and general taxpayer funded soap opera nonsense chrnonicled on this very site.

Solutions? I voted for the guy who said he had the solutions. The guy who mocked his predecessor and now is out ribbon cutting, hiring out his job to consultants, and though early, not showing things will be much different.

You think you know what conservatisim is, big shot? You don't get to redefine the word to fit your purpose, and it does not have, as its core principle "Vote for us, we'll suck less, and our cronies are the good ones!"

As for the mandates, Bernie, we've danced on that floor before. That would take leadership and courage from our federal and state representatives that simply does not exist. No rocking the boat and losing the vote. If mandates are going to be challenged, it will be a local leader who finally tells them to go pound sand, we'll decide what we can and will provide. That is not nihilism, that is self-determination and self governance. I would be interested to see how much everyone here will be willing to pay when it is all on us.

All it would take is one unfortunate episode to send Clem running for government assistance. He'd be balling like a baby if he lost his ability to selfishly serve his self interests. You can tell these clowns a mile away - they speak nonsensical libertarian talking points inside a bubble of intellectual construct until something happens to them. Clem is the exact kind of douchebag that this country has rallied against in 2008 and 2012. He's the death knell of the Republican party - a tea bagger without common decency or common sense.

Anonymous said...

Clem probably won't get help if he needs it. The county will be too busy spending its Human Service money on that new building. a million a year and more every year.
