To be honest, I'd face severe challenges to go see these two even if they were appearing in my back yard.

McCain is clearly in trouble right now and I understand that he's going to go extremely negative to close the gap.

I must admit however, that I wish they'd cease with announcing the daily polls, particularly within the last month or so prior to the election. It's unfair to the candidates and the voters.

When the Presidential and VP candidate of one of the two major parties comes to town, it's worth mentioning.

The Hillary Dem's have jumped off the fence now that their IRA's are in free fall mode! McCain is losing Pennsy and he knows it. He dropped out of Michigan to come here and try to turn things around. Maverick my butt..same old R songs and dances! Palin cute but not relevant to gray haired little old ladies on SS..

Hmm... they're going to Lehigh?

So the upper class are visiting the upper class. Nice to see they're sticking together!

For sure, McCain is in trouble at this moment, but that can change in a heartbeat.

I really don't like these guys "pre-announcing" the election results with the constant drumbeat of poll results. It has the effect of surpressing the vote and it's really unfair to the "losing" candidate.

According to MSNBC, Obama's money advantage is coming into play now along with McCain's disadvantage on the same count which is why he's pulling from MI and doubling down in PA.

I've always liked McCain. I'm a C-Span junkie, and always loved hearing him go after generals and admirals during hearings. He's aa tough cookie.

Obama is incredible. He is a very inspirational speaker, but also is very detail-oriented when he has to be. Philosophically, I'm closest to him.

Biden, Pa's third senator, is another foreign policy expert and the most brilliant debater among them all. When he makes those gaffes, it humanizes him and I end up liking him more.

I was a little concerned about palin after that Couric interview, but when she stopped pretending to be a wonk and returned to herselfg during the debate, I really liked her. Putting aside her philosophies, she's the most likable of them all.

So Greg, I'm in a position where I actually like all four candidates. I am still undecided myself.

Bernie,

To be honest, McCain doesn't seem to be a bad guy, I just think his campaign has made a tactical error that may prove to be fatal and it's a variation of the one Hilliary made; the failure to realize that this is a change election. He also had to muddle around to shore up his base because the republicans weren't solidly behind him at the outset. Having to shore up the base and then switch around and talk about change was difficult and now that's he's behind, he has to talk about Obama not being ready while never presenting a coherent message about himself. That's gonna be a tough row to hoe with economic news looking to remain in the forefront for the next few weeks. It's like he's running a campaign with Bush-like tactics while trying to talk about change. He just winds up reminding everyone about Bush!

Honestly Bernie, I really take offense when people refer to Biden as PA's third senator. Why? Because he was born here? Anyone who really cares about and KNOWS Pennsylvania understands how important coal is to our state, at least in the immediate future, and his comment (and typical about face) that clean coal technology has no place in our short-term energy portfolio is pretty telling in my book. To say that it was "taken out of context in a rope line" just doesn't cut it for me.

ajc keep in mind Lehigh is "Uber right wing" upper class.

Atleast what we see of LU on WFMZ. Like the big Inteligent design.

And those goof balls that want to be allowed to pack heat on campus.

among other far right wing stuff to come out of LU.

But I love the Leopards myself. And if I learned one thing from Easton politics, Lafayette is home to rich "left wing" kids more. (Plenty of young repubs there as well.)

Maybe Bernie can get to ask Sarah Palin a question she dosn't have a que card for.

Or am I the only one to see she spent 3/4 of the debate looking down at her cheat sheet?

Atleast memorize your lines, lies and spin like Biden.

Kids lose JV debates for looking down most of the debate.

But she winked at dudes, flirting wins points in the media. That and being from the media as well. They love the hope she gives every career TV news caster that you too can be a dumb TV personality who ends up on a Presidential ticket.

If the ticket wins maybe Vaughn from WFMZ can become secretary of state. I mean they have a berks edition so he is qualified to deal with Germany and Latin America.

ANON 11:42 if he did live in Scranton still he may well be still opposed to Coal. Lackawana County has had TONS of empty mines collapse in the last 15 years.

Let alone all the polluted water that has been found from strip minning, etc, etc.

Scrantonites gave up on Caol with the Ford administration.

And rightfully so.

I love this "clean coal" spin. Folks trying to pimp it as the cleaner energy as if the sun never freaking shines on earth!

Let me just say that it is not going negative to talk about a candidate's vote record biographical or political history,or their associations with criminal or subversive elements. Going negative is mocking someone as a cripple becasue of injury or illness or using personal traits as a weapon. Going nagative is spinning historical data with inuendo and making personal attacks by repatedly using that inuendo to diminish a candidate or their family and publicly mocking (or getting others to mock them) as a matter of psychological warfare on a public scale.

Let the games begin on an ethical and factual playing field.

I was there yesterday to get a McCain sign for a lady I know and they could not help me. They're pretty much out of everything.

I never asked for a ticket myself.

I will contact Dottie Niklos tomorrow to see what she can do to help you.

Bernie sez:

"I was a little concerned about palin after that Couric interview, but when she stopped pretending to be a wonk and returned to herselfg during the debate, I really liked her. Putting aside her philosophies, she's the most likable of them all."

I asked my six year-old neighbor what color his mommy's hair was and he told me. I asked him what kind of toothpaste he uses and he told me. I asked him who his favorite ballplayer was and he told me. He told me these things immediately, without having to think about the answers. He's a bright lad, but his responses were what I would consider normal for even an average six year old.

The VP nominee of a major party could not answer the question "what newspapers do you read?"

Bernie - Sara Palin overachieved to be mayor of a small town. She has gotten by with winks and with her guile and some charm, but that's all. I don't care if she's "likeable"...she appears to be a dolt, unless she has had five days of intense preparation, or unless there is a telpromptor in front of her. It also calls into question McCain's sense. He appears to have little, if he felt that this bimbo is the best female candidate in America. I can understand choosing a female, but this one???

Talk about hitting a HR..Thank you for nailing Mrs. Palin to the wall! McCain signed his own death warrant with this hatchet job babe! Landslide loss and it will take the R's at least eight years to recover and find a suitable candidate again!

Dave-

Thanks.

But never underestimate the intelligence (or lack thereof). There are nuckleheads who are impressed by the fact that "she's like the gal next door". I don't know about you, but the gals I see around me are not executive material.

Tell everyone you know about Palin's shortcomings....I believe that she would be dangerous. Imagine her negotiating a treaty, or staring down an enemy.

McCain has resorted to Swiftboat style attacks. Guess when you lack a real message, that's what you do.

Remember, McCain campaign cannot force themselves to say middle class. When they say tax breaks, remember that McCain want to tax health benefits given by employers for the first time in US history.

No thank you,I'll watch the replay on SNL.

Here's the score -

It's the ninth inning and McCain is trailing. He has to hit a grand Slam to win the game.

Prediction:

Instead of focusing upon the topic that most (60%) Americans want their next leaders to address (the economy), Team McCain will do what they do best - They will attack Sen. Obama's character. They will talk about something that was already addressed during the primaries. But give Ol' Johnny credit, he's smart enough to realize that on that crucial issue that we Americans want him to address (THE ECONOMY), he intuitively knows that he's f***ed. He has ties to President Bush and to a Congress controlled by R's for most of the last decade. His transparent trick is to disavow any knowledge of Bush and to run as an outsider "maverick". To enhance this, he even brought in as his VP choice, the ultimate "outsider". Problem with Palin, she's WAY outside!

Enjoy their visit to the Lehigh Valley; listen carefully to what they say and then tell me if I am wrong. Let me know if they address anything we really need to hear about. Or will you just be witness to a pathetic last ditch attempt by an old man who sees his last chance to be president slip away, because his best chance was really in 2000. He is desperate and he will use appropriate measures to try to sway the populace.

For me, my mind was made up when he chose the cheerleading, winking, g-dropping hockey mom from the Arctic as a running mate.

God help us!

I prefer Tina Fey.

I don't believe she is purposely displaying a streak of anti-intellectualism to appeal to the Republican base, as some have suggested, I think she just is really not that smart or quick on her feet. When she couldn't answer a question, she went back to her talking points and repeated the same lines over and over like a malfunctioning robot. Her small town girl witticisms aside, I heard nothing from her to reassure me that she has one iota of the emotional intelligence needed to be vice president (and possibly president) or the necessary intellectual heft.
