There were was much gnashing of the teeth and renting of garments over a LERTA tax break granted to industrial developer Lou Pektor in Upper Mount Bethel Tp last week. But once the crowds had left, Northampton County Council unanimously gave their seal of approval to a RACP application by Jaindl farms for a resort and spa in Lehigh Township. This is state money, but it's obscene that public dollars are going to help a rich developer just get even more wealthy by providing a resort for the pretty people. He'll be redeveloping an old seminary and convent. But when Nat Hyman wanted to redevelop the State Hospital to provide affordable housing, the state decided it would rather spend $15 million to demolish the historic buildings.

Hyman never takes government money and he is to be commended for that. But you can't blame Jaindl for taking it if they are giving it out.
I don't blame a businessman who seeks a tax break. I blame us for being stupid enough to give it.
And let's not forget Jaindl is selling it's farmland for warehouses!
