Nothstein Stories Garner Keystone Press Award

Last year, I did a series of stories about what turned out to be unfounded allegations of some form of sexual misconduct by then Congressional candidate Marty Nothstein. Though this supposedly had occurred 18 years ago, and the women who supposedly were involved denied that anything improper had occurred, this nevertheless became a front page story in The Morning Call. It was an obvious hatchet job designed to ruin any hope he had of winning. It succeeded, too.

Since these stories are critical of a newspaper and were judged by other journalists, I fully expected they would be politely ignored. Instead, they took first place in the ongoing news coverage category.

Below are links to my stories:

Congratulations Bernie ,,, I wish you were available to come to 35th Leonard Buck Banquet sponsored by the President's Council of the Allentown Crime Watch... I is scheduled to be held on April 11, 2019 at the Palace Center, just off Hanover Avenue in Allentown (East Allentown) … The doors will open 5:30PM ,,,

At the banquet we will have a wonderful buffet dinner … Russel "Rooster" Valentini -- Allentown School District Homeless Educational Liaison/ Advocate will be the Keynote speaker …

And we will present 4 major Awards

1) Leonard Buck Distinguished Citizen award of 2018 ---
….The Award is named for Leonard Buck who was instrumental in forming the 1st Crime Watch program in the City of Allentown called KERT ( Keystone Emergency Response Team

2) Ben Gress Distinguished Police Office for 2018 ---
The Award is named for Ben Gress, long-time President of the Allentown Crime Watch and Mountainville 30. Ben was the epitome of Allentown Crime Watch and our most dedicated and determined volunteer.

3) The Robert Ring distinguished Neighborhood Award for 2018
The Award is named for Police Captain Robert Ring whom headed up the 1st Crime Prevention Unit of the Allentown Police … It being Robert Ring whom contacted Ben Gress to organize the 1st Banquet to honor Leonard Buck's endeavors. Leonard Buck being the 1st recipient of what because the Leonard Buck Award and also being honored by the Banquet being named in his honor after his death.
4) We initiate this year the new Howard Penley Life Time Citizen Participation Award to honor Howard Penley whom back in the mid 70's when Buck was busy organizing crime Watch groups, Howard Penley was promoting citizen participation to organize community and neighborhood groups. While Buck's effort led to the formation of the President's Council of the Allentown Crime Watch, Penley's efforts led to the formation of the Allentown Community of Neighborhood Associations...
These two groups operated separately for many years, but now active Crime watch groups. community groups and neighborhood groups can all be part of the President's Council Board and Membership.
It is interesting to note, that Ernie Atiyeh . a past President of the President's Council and myself, the current but outgoing President of the President's Council were once President's of the Allentown Community of Neighborhood Associations.

Congrats Mr O'Hare now if that story would've been enough to Garner the one sided state of affairs locally in the edited out news media. Than just maybe we would have some representatives that are there for the public best intrests not conflicts of intrests.

Congratulations. Now get to work on Northampton County and some of the secretive deals being made. Use the DUI situation as just on example. You have to get over your mancrushes and you can hit the journalistic moon!

Congrats to You Bernie for doing what the local media won’t do with regard to true investigative reporting. Wilde should never have defeated Nothstein but this fake news stuff really did him in.

You should also have gotten an award for your investigative reporting on Martin Tower developer shenanigans in 2015 as you exposed the scam that Bethlehem participated in with the State CRIZ application that got Bethlehem the designation based upon saving Martin Tower. That scam will play out to its end game in May with the implosion that Bobby D orchestrated. Wonder if Ronca will be required to give back the 53 acre CRIZ benefit to the state for the fraudulent application?
