Ruff Gets Rough Treatment From Mako Goons

Jason Ruff is running for State Representative against incumbent Zach Mako in the 183rd. Mako has to be one of the dumbest people I’ve ever seen. He’s an embarrassment to anyone who lives in Northampton.

Mako was having a campaign event disguised as a Senior Expo, like all incumbents who seem to have these events at election time.

Ruff decided to go, and got roughed up. Here’s his account:

Go pay your parking meter fine!

Well, this is were we are, it may very well get worse.

Ruff was looking for trouble. He is an instigator. He had a right to attend, but not to create a politically charged environment. He was grandstanding, pure and simple. He derserved to get the heave-ho.

Ruff was looking for votes. Marty Nothstein was there to promote his campaign. Under your logic, he should have been chucked, too.

Marty was probably invited by Mako. Ruff wasn't. He was an unwelcomed guest. A party crasher. And he was there to disrupt the event. Marty wasn't. Ruff should have been shown the door!

Bernie O'Hare said...

He was. The event was open to the public.

You hate Mako and always have. The problem is Ruff is a pain in the ass. Many dems feel he is too pushy. He wants every democrat to help his campaign with cash. If you don't he bad mouths you. It has been heard at some gatherings. He is one of a number of new dems who feel something is owed them just because they are running. Grow up!

Didnt Mako (Okam his party name) recieve a letter of adonishment for embellishing his duties on a joint training event where he claimed to be training Generals? Who is to believe he knows more than career Generals after a few months at Ft Hood marching in line? Maybe he was giving new recruits lessons on his "cool" "military lingo" as he calls it and facebooking his buddies he calls "holmes" and asking if he was "(expletive)ing any drunk bitches, yet?" "Don't speak to me if you haven't, lol." The guys girlfirend responded in disbelief. Makos response was even worse, degrading in fact. What horrible thing to say especially with other exposed to this type of bar room banter. Leadership expects better.

None of this matters. Mako wins easily and Ruff gets a mention on LVR, which is the most he probably anticipated. And everyone goes away happy.

Whether you are a Republican or Democrat, Bernie is correct. Zach Mako is a pointless legislator. Contributes almost NOTHING. No longer a newbie, he still has one of the most embarrassingly small lists or sponsored & co-sponsored items. Terrible record of getting anything of consequence done.

Next with these incumbency protection rackets. . .

1.) Is it made clear to vendors taking part in things like this that they are participating in a closed "private" campaign event?
2.) These events are advertised on State Rep public facebook pages without disclaimers about who paid for the marketing. So.... Not a campaign event? Not a public event? What is it?
3.) When are these incumbency protection schemes going to be exposed?

They (all) conduct these campaign events when they should be working. Speaker Turzai gave the house an additional 2 weeks off when they were supposed to be back in Harrisburg. Why? More time to campaign.

Draining the swamp is a bipartisan problem.

Good thing about campaigns, it encourages a few Electeds to catch up on their delinquent property taxes. Meanwhile, seniors are the first ones to pay. Our WWII generation may be fading but let their eternal stars shine bright. Then comes along the "modern candidate" who feels entilted to a particapition award for mediocrity.

As much as I dislike Mako he still has more experience then what Ruff has. What qualifications does Ruff have that makes him think he can be state rep? Seems like all Ruff wants to do is fundraise and spend the money throwing parties.

"Draining the swamp is a bipartisan problem."

Yes, it is, indeed.

I don't dislike Mako. In fact, I consider him likable. But intellectually, he is deficient. I don't know how else to put it. Two years of experience? Give me a break. Also, I believe he told me he would sign on to the gerrymander bill, but never did.

I dislike most of these pols, both Ds and Rs. They dislike me, too. But that is irrelevant.

Ruff has about as much experience as a legislator, as Mako does.

Let's face it, the PA. Legislation is bloated with politicians feeding from the public trough. Harhart had that seat fir a hundred years. What did she accomplish other than hosting a senior fair every year. The Mako Shark has accomplished nothing because 90% of state reps do nothing.

"As much as I dislike Mako he still has more experience then what Ruff has. What qualifications does Ruff have that makes him think he can be state rep? Seems like all Ruff wants to do is fundraise and spend the money throwing parties." By this logic, an incumbent should never be challenged. Makes no sense. And like it or not, raising money is a necessity in politics, and Jason is doing so honestly. As for experience, he is serving on the Slatington Borough Council. Going up to state representative is a logical progression. Also a small business owner. And when you actually talk to Ruff, he gives you well thought-out answers, not talking points. He's a serious candidate. Mako on the other hand ran away from debate opportunities in 2016, and really angered the League of Women Voters the way he did so at the last minute after they'd put a lot of time and effort into creating the venue. He ducked the debates with good reason -- he's incapable of understanding the issues.

Mako has a loving family you all are being mean and nasty what if his kids read this? Calling him stupid is cruel and diminishing of the authors credibility, this has become a hate blog

Bernie O'Hare said...

So far as I know, Mako is unmarried and has no children. His basic intelligence and ability to understand the issues is extremely relevant to the office he seeks, unless he’s only there to do as he’s told.

Sorry, but if you are not willing to accept some pretty strong criticism, you have no business running for office. There was nothing over the top said about him, and what is said about his inability to understand the issues can be seen clearly in video of the 1 debate he did do during the primary season in 2016. His performance was beyond weak. I will agree though with Bernie, that he seems to be a nice person. There's lots of nice people -- doesn't mean they have the wherewithal to represent us in the legislature. Especially since he's completely unwilling to stand up to House leaders like Turzai on no-brainer issues like gerrymandering reform, where PA is by quantitative measures the worst in the country.

I was there and missed all the excitement! Especially since it started to get slow around 12 and all of us vendors left a half hour before it was to end.

Ruff and Mako are two sides of the same coin. Both are not ready for prime time players. That seems to be the new requirement for Harrisburg. If you look at the kiddy clown force from Allentown this is no different. I wish some real experienced and knowledgeable people would be running. The people who have spent time in county government would have a great grasp on the state issues. These boys are just looking for work with benefits.

535...Do you realize Ruff has been on Borough Council, worked on budgets, lived within budgets, Ruff also owns a small business and makes payroll. A life long district resident who invested locally.

Bill Villa posted a comment posing as Nacho Man so he could attack blogger Michael Molovinsky, MM ran for that seat as an independent a few years ago. Regular readers knownI have no use for MM’s recent affinity with racists, his constant defenses of Trump’s bizarre behavior, or his tendency to play the victim card with The Morning Call and others. Having said that, he ran a remarkably good race and got a lot of votes. Had I lived in that District, I would have voted for him. Also, I am really turned off by people who pretend they are liberals, but who will make subtle jabs at someone because of his religion. This kind of intolerance is prevalent just as much from these elitists as it is in the most ignorant of conservatives. This hatefulness is why no one really wants anything to do with Villa. This elitism is why Trump is President.

Mr. Mako is a military man and little J.Ruff is not. I vote with our nation and our military. I vote for a brave patriot and a skilled pilot, I vote for Mako!

I would never get in a chopper with him.

Villa , you are a pussy afraid to sign your actual name to anything. As for the defamation case against you, you should know better than to continue your lies here. Stick to those you fool on Facebook. I periodically pull the docket sheet and know exactly what is happening. The case has been stayed because one of your fellow defendants has declared bankruptcy. Before that, your attempt to dismiss the case got tossed, and Martin had a rare victory in a discovery appeal over your intransigence. You've been exposed for the scum you are, something you prove daily just by being you. Sadly, you have made a mockery of your own daughter's death. Now stay off this blog as you promised Judge Reibman. You can't seem to keep your word, but that's what I expect from people who commit libel.

Mako is a no nothing who doesn't belong in a position requiring him to make grown up decisions regarding constituents. We desperately need a Blue Wave to purge our system of these unqualified people.

Anonymous said...

WE may need a blue wave but we need a competent wave even more. Ruff is an empty flannel shirt. Even some insider Dems will tell you he is just another poser hoping to jump in the blue wave. He brings nothing new to the table. His attempts to strong arm contributions is gross. At least Mako does no harm.

I think you mean "know nothing."

Anonymous said...

If a doorknob like Bob Casey can be a Senator, Mako is intellectually overqualified. Also see: Donald Trump, Maxine Waters, etc.

Everyone is waiting for Mako to take the podium in Harrisburg and speak on behalf of his district. He rejected local speaking engagements until right before the Primary (always a conflict). When asked to participate at a local Townhall on School Safety, he was a NO SHOW. Each and everytime there is an opportunity for a tough question, he is a NO SHOW. Before Harhart resigned, his personal and financial interests were outside the District. Ruff stayed Local, created a Local business, served on Local council and invested his Time and Energy Local.

Anonymous said...

This was a public event and every taxpayer had the right to be there... if his campaign is saying different then he is braking campaign rules by posting on his political page about the event!

Anonymous said...

Just because Ruff served on a local council that makes him qualified? Stop drinking the kool aid. If Ruff gets elected it will be more empty promises coming from someone who has no clue. At least with Mako you know what you are getting.

Bernie O'Hare said...

An idiot.

He's a "nice" guy...those who know him, and the etymology of the word "nice", understand.

That being said, we have a systems failure, a software corruption, it matters little at this point who, or what, we plug-in to it.

The financial crisis for example, was brought on by the most highly educated, extremely intelligent, most qualified people we produce, and yet despite all efforts they ran the economy aground.

My guess is Mako will go the way of all politicians only he will be "nice" about it.
