From Northampton County: County Executive Lamont McClure and the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) announce that approximately $200,000 in local Affordable Housing Program funds are available for projects which maintain or increase the availability of quality affordable housing.
“Affordable housing is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for our lower income residents,” says Lamont McClure. “This program is one of many steps we’re taking to improve housing availability in Northampton County.”
Eligible applicants include non-profits, public agencies, governmental entities and private, low income housing providers. The funds are to be used for residents of Northampton County whose annual incomes are below the median income for the County, as determined by HUD.
Funds for this program come from fees collected by the Recorder of Deeds and may be used for:
* Projects that create or retain rental units or owner-occupied housing
* Supportive funding for costs incurred by non-profits or governmental entities in order to offer emergency housing services
* Funding assistance for transitional housing facilities and affordable housing supportive services
The application process opens on Monday, September 10th. Applications must be filed by October 26th with approvals scheduled to be announced in December.

Just what we need in Easton. More rental units with section 8 housing attracting guns and drugs.
Why donte we see workforce housing projects where jobs are being created? How was workforce houaing promoted in Envision pilot zones? Any workforce housing in the warehouse districts or near distribution centers? Will there be workforce housing in Opportunity Zones?
