Lamont McClure won Tuesday's race for NorCo Executive with 22,477 votes against John Brown's 19,278. With a 3,000 vote cushion, it's a convincing victory. As you may expect, McClure did very well in NorCo's two cities, Bethlehem and Easton. But what if there were no cities? Would he have still won? According to my review of the unofficial results, the answer is Yes.
In Bethlehem, McClure garnered 3,917 votes to Brown'e 2015. In Easton, his tally was 1,813 votes to Brown's 563. These are where he won big. But if you remove the cities from this tally, McClure still beats Brown, 16,687 to 16,670.
It's only by 17 votes, but a win is a win.
At two wards on Bethlehem's south side (wards 3 and 4), McClure drew 88% of the vote. And in Easton's ward 9, located on that city's south side, he won 84% of the vote.

Since the suburbs are primarily republican, I like to check out the dem totals there. I agree with you. I noticed some other dems did well outside the cities.
When Rs raise taxes they act like Ds. When there’s no distinction between the parties, as I’m NorCo, the blue registration edge makes it easy for Ds to beat Rs. It rang a bit hollow to campaign on fiscal responsibility after raising taxes 10%. We are still going to get higher taxes. We’re still going to get a new jail. We’re still going to get the fish tank. Meet the new boss. He’s just the same as the old boss.
bo has a sexual fantasy going on here

Where do you get your talking points? The Democrats in North Hampton County while they were there did not raise taxes for over a decade and yet you insist that we are the tax and spend party when in fact the true tax and spend party is the Republicans the only tax breaks they give are to they’re rich buddies. We then all get a tax increase for The money that is no longer given for theservices that are no other providedBy the higher government agencies give those so-called tax breaks.
Congratulations to McClure for a big win in Northampton County. We will be able to see what the future holds as McClure begins to name his cabinet and by those whom he will surround himself with. He pledged a no tax increase budget for at least four years. Time will tell.
Like Brown, we all wish him well. If he is successful in fulfilling his promises, then we as taxpayers win also. Now, let's watch the cabinet appointments and who he trusts as his confidents.
"The Democrats in North Hampton County while they were there did not raise taxes for over a decade ..."
Because we're still paying off Reibman's debacle all these years later. Please. Be serious.
I luv how the transients from out of the area and move here don't even know how to spell " NORTHAMPTON " correctly. No wonder the country is going to crap. You don't even know how to spell the name of the place you live in. Sure you don't even know what is going on in the political word you livein either. SCARY !
When McClure does not hand you keys to the courthouse and makes you file info requests just like everyone else, will you be directing your hatred and rage to him the same way you did to Brown and every one of his supporters?
Doubful that you will be able to walk past the metal detectors in the days of John Stoffa, and use the Sheriffs as personal body guards either.
Not likley that you will be allowed to stay after hours in R of Deeds either.
Not likely you will be able to bathe in the courthouse either.
Lets count the number of days, and place bets how long it will take OHare to start banging his head on the floor and foaming at the mouth about LaMont, with his hate pen in hand. I bet 30 days.
Where's your big congratulatory post for Northampton County getting rid of Judge Emil Giordano with his great victory for the Superior Court ... oh yeah, he lost ... never mind.
I think Brown wins outside the cities of Bethlehem and Easton by 133.
9:15 (aka 9:22)
Your still hating? Your luv of Brown, Trump, and Tea Party mentality lost the day. Help pack your friend Snover's bags. With Snover out the Republicans in NorCo might have a chance.

Bernie this was a turn out election. Dems nationally had all the energy and enthusiasm. Again, I am glad Lamont won and wish him no disrespect, but Lamont came in third in a Democratic primary 4 yrs ago. Suddenly he is a campaign genius? Where was that 4 yrs ago?
9:54, not 9:15 or 9:22
Hating? Really? Ohare got a few free pizza crusts for doing Callahans dirty work, even though he wrote dozens of hate blogs about him too.
Not sure what LaMont promised O'Hare except to replace wastebasket recepticle liners at Peter Angelos. The MCClure crush will be short lived.
Of course it was a turnout election. They all are. You just noted that McClure came in third in a primary for years ago. For him to win this race by 3,000 votes, he obviously improved his game. At the same time, Brown was a disaster who really did no campaigning. And his county party failed him.
The Brawl that was the Allentown Mayor's race likely put Armstrong in office
"I think Brown wins outside the cities of Bethlehem and Easton by 133."
My math says McClure won by 17. I have to re-check. As one of my R friends knows,my math has been lousy lately. But even if Brown won by 133 outside the cities, that is incredibly close.
9:22, This post is not about Judge Giordano. Sad that you demean a good man.
To All My Fellow Recent Northampton County Retirees:
Poor John Brown has to leave his job before he wanted/planned. Boy do I know what that feels like.

These anonymous personal attacks have nothing to do with my post and i should delete, but let me respond.
My access to the courthouse under John Stoffa was the same as everyone else. I had no special privileges. If I need information, I filed a RTK request. In fact, I did write several posts complaining about the delays in responding, and on one occasion, appealed a denial to OOR and won. When everyone could stay after hours in the recorder's office, so did I. When that practice stopped, I stopped. In fact, I made it a point to leave early during the Stoffa years precisely bc I wanted no one saying I was getting special favors. Finally, during my running days, I would run over the lunch hour and them would use the men's restroom to clean up. This happened under Reibman and Brackbill, and not under Stoffa. The notion that people can't use the men's restroom to change is ridiculous.
I am deleting attempts to deflect attention from the subject of this post with additional anonymous personal attacks aimed at me.
When will you do a profile on the upcoming new county council? Other than the change in party what do you see as the new dynamic between members? Will they kiss McClure's behind?
The new council will vote to build a new jail, pay for a fish tank, and raise taxes after giving sweet contracts to the unions that elected them. McClure will go along with each step. Wasting money will go on unabated. There is little difference between Ds and Rs at the county level unless you’re part of Ds taxpayer funded constituency at the courthouse. SSDD.
I doubt that some of the elected Democrats will vote to raise taxes. They saw through the republican smoke screen. What I do think is there will be a more critical eye placed on Admisntration actions, I know one of the people that one was very critical of county executive excesses.
They're all critical until their guy gets in. Lamont was a slothful no-show much of the time he was paid to serve on council. People don't change. Second chances are usually wasted.
I doubt that fish tank will have the support it had with the ousted jokers. Ferraro hurt herself badly drooling over it and it almost cost her a seat. Other than downtown businesses who think it will help their sales Easton residents don't want it.
If these new council members throw money at that proposed Easton fish folly they will be one-term decision makers.
Any thoughts on Phil Armstrong's race? He won without spending virtually any money.
I focused this year on NC, but it's clear that the Trump effect was widespread.
Wo9men were a big part of this years election. Many came out and they voted.
Brown has no one to blame but himself. A guy, who was an awful, no-show, arrogant council member beat him!
McClure has no management experience whatsoever. Could this be a problem?
Of course it’s going to be a problem. People think Brown was bad and employees thought they had it bad. Just watch!
Bernie, please delete anon 3:01. Cheap shots at peoples kids are cowardly bullshit. That should be a no-no even if someone identifies themselves. I doubt you intended your blog for that.
3:91 is deleted and the only reason it lasted an hour is bc I was driving. My guess is that the comment did not come from a “him” but a “her.”
