Amy Trapp |
A resident of Northampton, Trapp is a graduate of both Muhlenberg and Moravian College, where she ultimately acquired a Master's degree in Human Resources Management. She has held HR positions in both private and public sector, most notably in Allentown for the past 2 1/2 years.
She prefers human relations in the public sector because, she explained, "Government employees tend to be very vested in what they do." She left Allentown in March, prior to news of the federal investigation. When Mayor Edwin Pawlowski decided to run for governor, and then for the U.S. Senate, that "made me a little nervous."
She described her style as informal and said she would be walking the halls to get to know people, and would be hard to miss because she is six feet tall.
About the only negative came when she disclosed that her husband is a Cowboys' fan.
"I'd like to withdraw the nomination," joked Brown.

Amy is very squared away, this is a win for Northampton county.
Do we need even more of Allentown government in Northampton County. We had a controversy with the one from the last Admisntration.
After what we now know about Allentown?
STUPID!!!!!
A very inexperienced leader in HR management. But she is
Good at micro managing people under her. Another bad choice
By brown.
The only smart thing Allentown has done was to show her the door.
One of Mayor Ed's leg breakers.
No wonder Brown wants her.
Those commenting about experience apparently don't know her very well...
She did a good job in Allentown and it was a loss when she left!
Allentown didn't show her the door and she has a master's in HR,SPHR and SHRM-SCP. Where is the lack of experience?
She did a good job in Allentown.......as FedEd's HR chief.
What else can ya' say?
Great move for Northampton county, her professionalism and experience will be just what the county needs. I wish her the best.
There are people who despise Amy. These are the people who give municiple employees a black eye with their chronic absenteeism, apathy towards the job they are paid to do, and dwelling within the mediocrity of low performance standards. Amy is an exceptional HR director who will ruffle those who suffer from the arrogance of tenure (this is the way we have always done it).
She appears to have a very good background. It would be absurd to vote against her just bc she worked in Allentown.
I agree! She is not a political hack. She had no background in politics before Allentown and was focused on HR and likely will be in this position as well.
Very nice looking lady.
Wasn't Amy vice president of human resources at EDMC before working at Allentown?
Frontline produced a documentary "Educating Sergeant Pantzke" basically describing EDMC as a for profit "paper mill".
I know nothing about her at all other than she's been Squared Away. I wish her lots of luck.
Her LinkedIn profile and comments indicate she was at EDMC. She left bc her daughter wanted her home more often. That company has been criticized over the way it recruits students.

Thank goodness she paid attention to her daughter needs.
The GI-Bill, the tax payers, and our nations brave fighting men, have been hood-winked by EDMC and other so-called educational institutions.
If she bows to the will of the established queen "women" in HR, she will do fine. If she does not it will be rough ride. The two queen bees run the joint and the HR director is along for the ride. She should watch her back.
Maybe it is time for the two queen bees to learn who is boss? HR is a broken place at the county and with a strong personality maybe she can turn it around.
Amy would be an asset to any establishment. She's highly intelligent and experienced. She is far from a "leg breaker." She can make a great business case for any changes that need to be made and isn't afraid to lock horns when necessary. She is no one's "yes woman." She knows her stuff and operates by the book. She is nothing but fair and consistent across the board. Anyone who has worked with her and wasn't doing something incorrectly would agree. Those who have an issue with how she operates tend to be those who like to operate under their own interpretations of the rules.
Northampton County would be lucky to have her. She's is phenomenal at fixing broken processes. She builds up her employees without breaking them down. She gives 1000% and takes her work very personally. She expects everyone to take responsibility for their actions, and those that like to point fingers are the ones who tend to have an issue with her.
We will see how she handles the Diva Bitczes! Bet she caves to them within a month. I wonder if she knows how much that department is broken and how unhappy most employees are. No one wants to have to deal with HR.
Ha ha, I believe the queen bees will have met their master the day Amy starts. She will transform HR from the place where people come to get hired and fired to a service rendering department. Give her 6-9 months tops and she will bring sanity.
I have worked with Amy, and believe me she doesn't bow to anyone. The queen bees will meet their match with her. Don't be surprised if the queens turn in their crowns for a jesters hats.
Brown really lucked out with this appointment. Right place, right time. Amy is a consummate professional and the county will be lucky to have her. She will not be influenced by that phony Cathy Allen who thinks she rules the roost. There is another strong woman in the house and she won't put up with the incompetence of Allen and her ilk.
You can only have one queen bee. And she isn't it she will fly off.
Right.
She alone maintained her integrity under the Allentown thug regime........and as HR director no less.
What a fucking joke!
Those of you who doubt her ability to make significant change and whip an office into shape, I believe, will be pleasantly surprised after a few months. And I can't wait to dole out the "I told you so"'s
Maybe this is the new Cathy Allen. Allen needs to be jettisoned if Brown has any dreams of becoming a two term county executive. This lady may push her out of the way and that is not such a bad thing in and of itself. Good Luck and show them who's the boss. New sheriff in town!
She hurt some good people in Allentown.
Good people? She held people to account whose only attribute was longevity. People who made life difficult for those who suffered from their incompetence. People who personified the lazy government worker that tax payers despise.
Amy hurt no one just as she didn't fire anyone. People hurt/fire themselves by failing to meet the standards of both their position and their salary. Leadership like this is sadly lacking in many parts of government due to apathy.
She carried water for Philadelphia Fran.
She was the first rat off the sinking ship,
She's a co conspirator.
