Stoffa's Voluntary Furlough Program Already Saving Money

In the few weeks that Northampton County John Stoffa's voluntary furlough has been in operation, it has already saved taxpayers $8,550. That's according to a brief report he made to county council's personnel committee this evening. Fifteen workers have already taken advantage of the program. Asked by Council Prez Ann McHale about child support and IRS deductions, Human Relations Director Connie Sutton Falf explained this furlough can only be taken for up to one week at a time. Since workers are paid biweekly, the deductions can still be made.

Thats all, some savings. That means they save $8000 on Vic taking a day off and the rest on the other 14 employees.

Over the course of a year, that translates to around $100k, enough to save taxpayers money. It's enough to pay for two or three salaries.

I think that once the rest of the employees hear that 15 people took furlough and nothing tragic happened, that more will.

Maybe all department heads(Stoffa) should take a week off to alleviate the pressure from the rest of us. Plus, lead by example!!

They could take a month off and no one would notice. They don't do anything anyway.

Bernie,

You stole my lines. That is almost exactly what I used to say when I got a cronic complainer in my office. Maybe, that was why I was so unliked at NorCo?

Peace, ~~Alex

You are no "Nature Boy", Rick Flair. You are the angry Priest. The County staff are the best judge of what the top dogs do in the County.
Bernie use to help us but with the Stoffa regime , he now attacks us for speaking the truth. This crowd is never around and really don't care about the staff.

Why not dump the assistant Director of Administration position. Stoffa condemned it, then turned around and gave it to an old buddy of his.

It is a do nothing position being paid for by County taxes. Quit schilling for this Administration Ohare, you know damn well that job is not necessary.

Spoken just like a bitter ex-deputy who walked the halls under Reibman. Believe it or not, some county people work.

I spoke up for county workers who were laid off and whose wages were frozen for three yearsw. I sopke up for people who are not paid a living wage.

I do not speak for spoiled brats who mob council chambers in an attempt to get someone fired. I do not speak for greedy deputies who try to soak the county for lunches in Easton or who whine to county council about not getting triple time to do security at an Easton high school football game. I do not speak for supposed workers who complain about everything, even a program like this that might benifit them. Your problem is you think everyone owes you, but you work for the taxpayers.

Why not furlough Harp and Jannis. It will save money and result in no lose of serices. Donot go after County employees who actually provide a service. This guy has as many hacks as Reibman.
