Although the video failed, I know Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure asked County Council last night to approve payraises for three county administrators.
- Director of Fiscal Affairs Steve Barron. His salary will increase from $97,886 to $102,291.
- Director of Human Services Sue Wandalowski. Her salary will also increase from $97,886 to $102,291.
- Gracedale Administrator Jennifer Stewart-King. Her pay is slated to jump from $102,291 to $111,704.
For their part, County Council voiced no objection to the raises proposed for Barron and Wandalowski. Barron, in particular, has saved the County several hundred thousand dollars in debt service. Moreover, he was the person who found a way to leverage the county's money with the state so that it could both purchase the Centralized Human Services Building while starting on a much-needed forensic center. Wandalowski has been spearheading an effort to cut the county off from state civil service so it can hire caseworkers much more quickly.
County Council member John Cusick objected, however to the proposed pay increase for Gracedale's Administrator. He pointed out that Gracedale's rating has failed to increase and argued it is "insulting" to give her a 9.2% increase in comparison to what is being paid to the Gracedale workers. Cusick was countered with the argument that Stewart-King is actually woefully underpaid in comparison to the salaries of other nursing home administrators.
I will bring you the details of this discussion when and if the County Council video from last night surfaces.

Pay raises for the select few. So most get some small cost of living. The chosen ones get a step increase. Cusick is right. McClure and council want to give a few people almost 105 raises. Would love t5o know the people in those jobs. Sneaky way to give huge pay jumps.
You can try to justify it because you love whatever he does but this is wrong.
All his pals are getting big raises. This is shocking, I tell you! Shocking! If you don't like it, stand your ass for hours in a Lamont Line and vote the incompetent ambulance chasing fraud the hell out. If you croak while waiting, your autopsie will be conducted in fabulous surroundings, along with the neglected from Gracedale. Thanks Lamont. You're everything we expected.
McClueless and his joke Administration is a DISGRACE to Northampton County. Just as bad as Brown. Voting him out. He cost taxpayers ridiculous amounts of money when he could have settled for less. They are all arrogant. Let's show him what we think of him at election time. Oh that's right, he has that rigged with the new wonderful voting machines.

The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. This has always been the American way. Sad !

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ARE PAID A SALARY FOR THEIR WORK, BONUSES ARE FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR. IA AM SURE THERE ARE CAREER SERVICE EMPLOYEES THAT SAVE GREAAT SUMS OF MONEY FOR THE COUNTY AND ARE NOT PAID BONUSES?
How about that salary study that was supposed to be done years ago for certain job roles? It is obvious that certain jobs are not keeping pace and have constant turnover. Those are the positions that deserve raises more than the 2% or whatever token they are getting. If you want to retain great employees, start there. PA state AFSCME members getting 4% for the next several years, guess where the smart folks are looking to go.
What is wrong with this County!!!!! He gives raises to a person for doing subpar work. Our elderly deserve much better. Put McClueless and bow tie in Gracedale for the rest of their term.

Regular employee that goes above and beyond the job, no chance of a review. Take what we give you. Would be fair if the few wasn't getting large increases.

The County has gone downhill fast. Bring back executives like Seyfried.

All of this whining. I have to say, this is why people choose to go to college and find a career. The odds of making a comfortable salary and much higher. Should have made different choices, people.
