RIP Mayor Gordon Mowrer
As June came to an end, former Bethlehem Mayor Gordon Mowrer joined former Mayors John Callahan, Ken Smith, Don Cunningham and incumbent Bob Donchez to celebrate Bethlehem's 275th birthday. The Moravian pastor is now a Moravian star, after finally losing a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Donchez: "Gordy was a friend who served Bethlehem with distinction and integrity. His love for his family, his God and his city were unmatched. Bethlehem is a better city because of the contributions of Gordon Mowrer. My sympathies to Mary and the entire Mowrer family."
Lynn Collins Cunningham: "I am so very sad to hear of the passing of former Mayor Gordon Mowrer.
Knowing how sick he was, I was so pleased when he was able to be a part of the Opening Ceremonies of Bethlehem's 275th Anniversary Community Celebration three weeks ago. He joined the other four living elected mayors, on the stage, where they all were acknowledged for their contributions to this city.
"A true gentleman and kind soul. He was a positive man whose mark was left on this city. Rest in peace, mayor, you deserve it."

Not any left like Gordie. Rest in peace.
Gordy stood tall for what is special about Bethlehem. We have him to thank for Main Street tourism & for trying his best to preclude casino from invading our town. Thanks Gordy & God Bless you.
