Who Is Paying For Pawlowski's Lawyer?

According to The Morning Call, Allentown Mayor has retained prominent criminal defense attorney Jack McMahon to represent him in a federal investigation into what increasingly appears to be pay-to-play. Though McMahon is very good, he's also very expensive. His initial retainer might exceed Pawlowski's $100,000 per year salary.

Fortunately for Pawlowski, he can dip into his campaign funds. It is legal to dip into both federal and Pa election warchests to pay for legal counsel.

No sense in letting campaign funds go to waste

Ironic that some of the money from Pawlowski's contributors will be used to pay a high-priced attorney, who will almost certainly be recommending that Pawlowski try to cut a deal by flipping on some of those same contributors.

Any way they could demand their money back?

Bernie
Would you be willing to find out who wrote such legislation, at least at the state level, to allow politicians to "dip into" their campaign funds to pay legal fees.
Why? Are they all corrupt?

Speaking of lawyers, there seem to be a lot of them that the Feds are interested in.

Is that normal for this type of case?

Ah, Warren Zevon flashback time. "Send Lawyers Guns and Money" to Allentown. Too bad Zevon passed on a few years back. I could go for a "Werewolves of Allentown" version of his other great hit.

The voters of Allentown are paying for the King's lawyer. Dave B and Lou H (who got robo-Spanged) called it pay and play in 2006, and yet everyone got caught up in the king's hype; now all you rats that voted for the guy are jumping ship - - you are to blame 100 %. Enjoy your higher water rates that are coming while you enjoy your arena (entertainment for the mob!)!

Who's gonna pay Cunninghams legal bills.

Lots of people seem to have amnesia these days.

First they loved the rock star Pawlowski and took his grant monies.

Then they hated the corrupt Pawlowski and swore they had nothing to do with him.

Gotta love those self-centered Allentown Democrats who claim to care about the poor so much.
