Luke Verdes Running For BT Comm'r

From Luke Verdes: I would like to officially announce my candidacy for the at-large seat of the Bethlehem Township Board of Commissioners. It has been an honor and privilege to serve in this role since I was appointed in November 2022 to fill the seat left by the passing of Commissioner Davis. I am committed to continuing her legacy of public service and community engagement.

Bethlehem Township is a wonderful community and as your Commissioner I’m dedicated to continuing to make it a better place to raise a family, retire, or plant new roots. My focus on the board is, and will continue to be, engaging our community directly, and through our boards and committees, upholding fiscal responsibility, addressing overdevelopment, ensuring our first responders have the training and resources they need, maintaining critical infrastructure including our roads and stormwater system, and finding cost effective ways to make the township greener.

My commitment to public service is rooted in my professional career of over 20 years working in the non-profit, social services, healthcare, and government sectors in various leadership roles. This experience is very relevant to the work of the Board of Commissioners and has given me direct knowledge of grant management, project planning and execution, budget management, and emergency management systems. I also hold a master’s degree in Public Administration, as well as professional certifications in Project Management and Organizational Development. My current position with Lehigh Valley Health Network as a Sr Project Manager provides me with the opportunity to work in our community implementing projects that help improve health outcomes for patients throughout the Lehigh Valley.

I look forward to the 2023 campaign and continuing to serve our township as the at-large Commissioner. Thank you so very much for your support!

LVHN? He has a real job in the real world. He's conflicted. He needs to get a government job to get un-conflicted. Am I doing this right?

Verdes was a great choice by the Township Board to replace Malissa Davis. Glad he's decided to run to keep the seat.

Former Twp manager jumped ship to St Luke's and is now involved in the development of hospital project just down the street from Municipal building, conflict? Lucas appears to be running for some other office before he even wins one.

It will be interesting to see who the other party puts against Luke or if they will decide to let the progressives continue to replace everyone in the Township that does not drink their kool-aid. Their campaign has started in Bethlehem Township like it has in other surrounding townships. This group seems to be the other end of the spectrum from the “20 strong men” contingent. What ever happened to the moderates

I did not catch a party label when reading this. He seems like an accomplished person with a level head.

@ 5:59 He's a Democrat. But political affiliation really shouldn't factor in that much at the township level. The issues they address aren't necessarily partisan issues. Things like local zoning, managing parks, local roads, etc. I think these local elections should be Nonpartisan, where no declaration of political party affiliation is allowed. That would make people actually have to think about who they are electing. But like you said he seems like an accomplished person with a level head. I think he'll do a good job.

He may, and I hope he does. For people that attend township meetings, it is easy to see there is a specific agenda among several members of various township boards to remove people that don't agree with them. Political affiliations generally are not on display in public meetings. Sometimes you need to know the behind the scenes information. Hopefully, everything works out for the local residents and the Township.

The re-election campaign started tonight in Bethlehem Township with discussion topics led by Mr Verdes on the use of solar panels and electric / hybrid vehicles by the township. More to come on the topics at future meetings
