NorCo Expands Hours at COVID-19 Testing Site

From Northampton County: With the increased demand for COVID-19 tests, the drive-through site located at Coordinated Health, 3100 Emrick Blvd, Bethlehem, PA is expanding its hours. The site will be open on Friday, December 31st and Saturday, January 1st from 8:00AM – 12 Noon. On January 3 – 7, testing will be available Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 8:00AM – 4:00PM and on Tuesday/Thursday from 10:00AM – 6:00PM. Appointments are not required for COVID-19 tests.

Vaccinations with Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shots are available by appointment during the site’s regular hours: Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 10:00AM – 2:00PM and Tuesday/Thursday from 3:00PM – 6:00PM.

“Cases, and the need for testing, has risen due to the Omicron variant and the holidays,” says Lamont McClure. “We are expanding our hours next week to meet demand and will adjust them accordingly as we move forward.”

To make an appointment for a vaccine at the COVID-19 testing site use one of the following options:

  1. Schedule at the LVHN website at LVHN.org/appointments.
  2. Schedule on the MyLVHN patient portal, at MyLVHN.org.
  3. Call 833-584-6283 (833-LVHN-CVD). The COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
A Physician’s order is not required for a COVID-19 test. The drive-through site is open to everyone, but only residents of Northampton County will have the cost of testing covered by the County if they do not have health coverage. All testing will be through HNL Lab Medicine unless insurance requires an alternate laboratory. Participants should bring a photo ID and their insurance card, if they have one, with them to the testing site.

The drive-through vaccination/testing center is a collaboration between the Northampton County Department of Community and Economic Development, Emergency Management Services and Lehigh Valley Hospital-Coordinated Health Allentown Hospital (LVH-CHA).

I shut down my business on Wednesday morning, hoping to settle infections down over a longer weekend. My shop is 95% vaxxed and 60% boostered. I lost eight of them to infection in two days. Vaccines and masks are not working at all. I survived months of supply chain nightmares and finally have lots of work to do. Now, no people. I give up. This sucks. Our leaders and all our efforts have failed miserably. I can't even get consistent guidance on who should come back - and when. Happy shitty new year.

6:14, it's simply not true that the vaccines and boosters "are not working at all." Yours is only one business, and it hardly is surprising to hear that people who worked together got infected together--especially when boosting is only partial. If you insist on citing anecdotal evidence: at my business of four, we're all fully vaxxed, boosted, and uninfected. At my daughter's business of six, there also are no infections despite one worker not being vaxxed.

It's understandable that you're frustrated, but there's a certain amount of luck to this. And maybe you should've been doing more. How's your ventilation system? Does anyone wear a mask, at least in certain situations?

And yes, when lots and lots of people get sick at the same time all over the world--let's call it a "pandemic," shall we?--the whole health care system starts to collapse. You can basically thank the unvaxxed for that.

Hope things get better for you.

Vaccines were never represented as guaranteeing no infections. although they help. Same with masks. There may be some dissent with the new CDC guidelines on ending isolation, but that's because they're thought to be too lenient. If you want to follow the CDC, then do so. If you want to be more careful, then do that. Sometimes you just have to exercise some judgment.

Omicron is crowding out the Delta variant. It’s less of everything including Alpha strand ,except exposure to systems is cut about in half. So, my personal observations have been , people are getting complacent, they are sitting together and don’t think this is an issue. Time here is 18:10 hours 31 December 2021 , The uptick will begin in about 72 hours, compromised immune system people ,over weight and smokers will be in the hospitals around this nation. That is on the 4th of January. 2022. It’s coming.

Today's MC reported without comment that the positivity rate for tests administer2d was 102.5%. That's a remarkably sensitive test.

The testing at this facility is quite efficient. Thank you for steering me to them. There were about 20 to 25 cars in line at eight o"clock and I was out of there by about 9:15. Things were speeding up after they got rolling. The only problem is it takes time to get the results. I was told about 48 to 72 hours. SOOOOOO my question is.....why do they have home tests that give you the results immediately and a hospital facility takes 48 to 72 hours. Just wondering. Again, the staff administering the tests were very cordial and quite efficient.
