Could Lynch Win NorCo Exec Race?

If you think Northampton County Exec Lamont McClure is going to blow out challenger Steve Lynch in November's fast-approaching election, think again.  As nutty as he is, he will get votes. I say this for two reasons.

First, face masks are an issue in this year's school board races. This controversial issue has even resulted in write-in candidates. These anti-maskers, who ordinarily would not be voting at all, will certainly support Lynch, an anti masker.

Second, voter registration statistics in Northampton County continue to trend Republican.

Right before the Presidential last year, there were 227,315 registered voters, consisting of 102,436 Democrats (45.06%), 81,345 Republicans (35.78%) and 43,534 others (19.15%).

As of October 4, the number of registered voters in NorCo has dropped to 219,125. This consists of 97,914 Democrats (44.68%), 78,932 Republicans (36.02%), and 42,279 others (19.29%)

Although Democrats still maintain a plurality of the registered voters, Republicans make up a larger percentage than they did last year, when Biden barely won this county. NN

Fortunately, Lynch turns off most Republicans. I expect him to lose, but the race will be closer than it should be.

I realize this is a difficult concept for many. But, yes Mr. Lynch can win. The Republican turnout should be strong. In addition, the number of unhappy Democrat voters might be significant, too.
Many Americans are disgusted with Federal and State Administration decisions that have filtered down and negatively effected many families here. This goes well beyond the mandates for masks and injections. It includes massive inflation, particularly in food and fuel. Outrageous new government spending efforts, the mishandled Afghanistan situation, unsecured national borders, local business shutdowns, failing public schools, and everyday lies from government officials and the media that censors far too much truth.
There is an unsettled, even angry, mood in the air. A disgust for all incumbents in BOTH political parties.
Although a County Official is somewhat removed as a cause of all this, he/she is an incumbent. There will be a strong ‘throw the bums out’ movement throughout the coming year. Surprises at the polls are to be expected.
Like you, I’m not expecting a change at Northampton County. Executive, but can’t rule it out. I am also registered Independent. So, don’t blame me!

I'm a lifelong R and I think he's a lunatic. But McClure has essentially gotten away with murder and I long ago gave up on the idea of liking any lowlife from any party - including my own - who becomes a politician. Left, right, or center, they're one of our lowest and most despicable life forms in our society.

The choice is between rotten scumbags. I'm not voting for the incumbent scumbag. I'm voting to challenger scumbag. I realize that a scumbag has already won, regardless. That's today's politics and government. I'm not alone in my pragmatism. You are correct to point out that this is an easier vote than many assume. It's why McClure won't debate. He's terrified of the unimaginable. Voters can be as scummy and cray cray as scummy cray cray politicians. Beware.

When he loses which he will, will the results be rigged?

"When he loses which he will, will the results be rigged?"

Probably. We've seen this time and time again, from Gore in 2000 to Hillary in 2016 to Trump and Stacy Abrams in 2020. None have conceded. All have claimed fraud. Losers gonna bellyache.

I mentioned here before, Democrat Susan Wild is spending quite a bit of money to make herself NOT look like a Democrat. Seriously. I have now received three glossy, full color, large format mailers from her condemning her own party leaders. She’s lying! Her first term in office shows rigid allegiance to the radical policies identified with the present Democrat Party.

I’d say, Susan Wild believes a strong backlash is ahead. I certainly do. Susan Wild is trying to extend her personal career and avoid being swallowed-up. But, she’s Federal, and a phony!

Mr. McClure should be able to withstand the challenge, though. I’m not aware of anything specific locally that would harm his chances. At this time, he gets my vote.

There are many Republicans, like myself, who will not vote in the Executive Race or will do a write-in for someone else. I have already dropped off my ballot and did a write-in for Emil Giordano, the man who should have run. This will indirectly help McClure, but I would rather do that than have Lynch as County Executive.

I have NEVER predicted a McClure landslide in this race. You are simply wrong. Lynch will get lots of votes, more than he should, but not enough.

Contrary to popular "fake news" belief, Hillary conceded election night AND despite other "fake news", she called trump and congratulated his win. She even offered her assistance to help ensure a smooth transition with the Obama administration, which trump refused.

Oh, and Gore actually won the election but the Republicans and a corrupt Supreme Court stole it from him.

8:10am: Hillary Clinton conceded the election on election night. Al Gore conceded a few weeks after his election. Stacey Abrams did not necessarily concede, but admitted that she had no further recourse, and accepted her defeat in her speech.

Trump, meanwhile, still won't concede, is grifting off of imbeciles who believe he'll be reinstated somehow and has banned his Kraken attorneys from his properties and stopped taking their phone calls: Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell and Lin Wood; All of whom have have either had their law licence suspended or have been referred for disciplinary action.

This makes the earlier point, of course. It's been 21 years and the butthurt goes on for many. My old man bitched about 1960, Kennedy, and Cook County until the day he died. Losers gonna bellyache. It's an American tradition.

As a Republican I support most conservative ideas. But I believe the Republican Party hurts itself by individuals like Lynch that make such wild statements. I will not be voting for him.

@10:48. It was "butthurt" 8:10am who brought up Gore and of course it was true "fake news". I merely corrected him. I wasn't bellyaching and am not butthurt. I didn't vote for Al Gore, because I couldn't stand Tipper Gore and didn't want her anywhere near the White House, and wasn't too fond of Al Gore for not supporting Bill Clinton. I voted for Ralph Nader in that election.

Nice try, but fail! Just like Trump failed in 2020 and just like Steve Lynch will do next month.

Oh, and I'm not anti-Republican. I currently have a three campaign signs on my lawn for Republicans: One for my School Board, One for my Township Council and one for a County Government position. I'm even working the polls for one of the candidates, even though I am a registered Democrat.

I vote the person, not the party.

I've been Independent since the early 90's and never voted straight party line because I think having a spectrum of different thoughts across public offices is a good thing and *should* lead to compromise and moderation. I can't and won't vote Republican until the embracement of Trump and Lynch types is burned out of the party. Nothing wrong with Conservative thoughts and ideals, but the current messaging and deranged anger associated with the party today needs to be put to sleep.

Why do we accept the butthurt and the scumbags on both side of the aisle. The real question that we need to figure out is how we get beyond the idiots that are on both sides of the aisle (D&R). How do we start to ferret out the grifters, the thieves, The lazy good for nothing jerks, The Pat ethic pieces of crap that play to the few percent on both ends of the spectrum, the self absorbed, the liars the cheats and please feel free to add what ever else you want to describe them as. So many of you have utilized such colorful descriptors in many of the post in these blogs.

I know this is not a popular term right now but we need to also apply the cancel culture to those that support this shit bags. Take the money away from those people that spend the money to put the shit bags in power.

I say we start to write to, ferret out, call out, badger, be little, ban for life, chastise, and even threaten jail for all the politicians that fit the categories above. It is going to take all of us to judge all of them equally whether they are our party or not. IF they are a dirt bag even in your own party admit it and do what you can to get them out of it.

And if there are the supporting ends of the spectrum out there we need to figure out a way how to break there wills, silence their voices, and ostracize them from society. Democracy is supposed to be ruled by the majority now the shit stains at both ends of the stick.

Funniest comment I have seen here in ages. I never heard about any of these people alleging fraud. I do recall a twice impeached LOSER soliciting an insurrection against our Capitol, and to this day he refuses to admit he lost the presidential vote. And his lie the election was rigged is believed by a very large portion of GOP voters.

I wholeheartedly agree, 2:47pm. After, trump won in 2016, I vowed to never vote for another republican. But, in the upcoming election, some (only some) of the local Republican candidates are better choices than the Democrat candidates, therefore, I'm reluctantly splitting my vote for School Board and Town Council. But, make no mistake, I will continue to vote D in most other races.

I moved to Center Valley almost a year ago but I receive McClure mailers. Was registered Democrat when I lived in Bethlehem/Northampton County and not Democrat in Lehigh County. McClure should check his mailing list.

EDIT-was never registered Democrat on Northampton County or here now in Lehigh County.

Me ,I address Anon ,6:08- this poster makes sense. And statement from another about “indirectly I will…”well me too ,I’m going in and pull for a Democratic County Commissioner because I don’t think he’s a bad man . I just disagree with some things like appointing a person as “ court services. How does Mr. Brown function in this overpaid post? He has now legal background or ability to direct the courts. What does he do for a living?
