NorCo Elections Comm'n to Meet Today

Northampton County's Election Comm'n is poised to meet today at 3:30 pm in County Council chambers on the third floor of the Northampton County Courthouse in Easton. It has scheduled  and advertised four meetings this year.

Today, Executive Lamont McClure is expected to present an action plan for this year's Presidential election. He will outline what steps he is taking to avoid a repeat of last year's disastrous November 5 election, in which the Express Vote XL was improperly configured, programmed and tested. He will likely discuss recent changes in the Elections Code that, for the first time, permit voting by mail. He may also be recommending someone to replace Acting Registrar Amy Hess. Though Hess is the first choice of everyone who has come in contact with her, she likes being a Deputy.

Especially after last year.

Hopefully they will not be conned by the Dertingwr BS. Will be interesting to see who the Administration want to push into the heed of elections job. No doubt one of their top political insiders. Guess Lamont Lines are here to stay.

And he will be putting Amy Cozze in that position. What a joke.

Nationwide, the next 2 elections will be under attack by vote-tampering fraudsters. It WILL happen in Northampton County, too. Also expect a heavy amount of mail-in ballots to create a problem never seen before. We can expect an increased amount of results to be challenged, possibly causing true winners to remain unknown for days and weeks after Election Night.

All one has to do is follow the cheating and lies going on with the impeachment effort. We are surrounded by people and news outlets that will go for broke and do anything necessary to “win.”

Will Northampton County officials be ready to prevent fraud? More importantly . . . willing?

Lamont Lines because ... thank you, Lamont. Bought bad machines and tells us the best solution is to not use them and vote absentee. Are they prepared for the volcano of absentee ballots from those seeking to avoid the rotten machines and not stand for hours in a Lamont Line? What a mess he made of things.

The "Pennsylvania Elections Code" ARTICLE III titled "County Boards of Elections"
Section 302 "Powers and Duties of County Boards sub para (c) clearly states it is the power and duty of County Boards "to purchase, preserve, store and maintain primary and election equipment of all kinds including voting booths, ballot boxes and voting machines.
it goes on in Para (d) to state it is also the power and duty "to appoint their own employees, voting machine custodians and machine inspectors".
My question is.....isn't the County Registrar an employee of the Elections Commission and if so, why isn't the Elections Commission making these appointments. I know it may be chaotic, however, the law is the law.

The registrar is a county employee, just as DCED or Controller or DA office is manned by county employees. It is up to the Comm'n, which meets just four times a year at most, to recommend all these things, but it is the county who pays.

What's to stop someone request a mail in ballot and then show up at the poll to vote?

This seems like a gray area at best. Section 1004 of the Home Rule Charter says that a commission "shall have the power to appoint . . . the officers and employees under its direction." Isn't the registrar under the direction of the Elections Commission?

There will be a record at the precinct that the person already has a mail-in ballot and is unable to vote.

The way it usually works is the Exec recommends and the Elections Comm'n appoints the registrar. But the employees in the office are all county employees.

Bernie did you see they aren't planning on having it in the Council chambers because they don't want any video of their corupt acts

I did not see that and think that would be outrageous

Hokie Joe says
These people are County Employees and that is as it should be. It is time for a Charter
Study Commission to address these issues, clear up the language, and change what isn't working and look at other sections of the Charter that needs amending. It is long overdue.

If the registrar of voters oversees the election process (including the counting and securing of paper ballots), is it really proper for elected county officials to oversee the "hiring"/appointment of such an official? Bad optics at the very least.

yeah Bernie just look at the county website, it says its being held in the "training room" probably some small room in an obscure location that no one can find

Your outrage is all that's left of open government. Today's journalism is about covering important stories .... with a pillow .... until they stop breathing.

Will The Easton Express send a reporter three blocks away to get the scoop? Doubtful. They only have two guys left and Tony only covers car crashes when they occur within two blocks of his College Hill abode. His mom was a helluva scribe. What happened?

What BS. You can't watch the video. You must downlead a stupid program but the program does not load.I asked someone about it and they said it will be fixed sometime .

What is that bullshot?

Democrats' sole goal for the remainder of the year will be to steal the 2020 presidential election.
