If the unofficial tally is accurate, John Morganelli captured 43,115 of the 57,680 votes cast on Tuesday, or 75% of the vote total. This is high praise for a dedicated public servant. John truly deserved to win.

He went alone, no handler, and enjoyed himself. He won nearly every precinct in the county. I congratulated John yesterday, and he showed me pictures he took of Portland, which he loves. According to barista Bob Cartwright, it is the Cancun of the Lehigh Valley.

Who voted straight party? According to unofficial results, 10,639 Democrats and 7,917 Republicans voted straight party. What this means is that 68% of those who voted split their tickets. Starting next year, straight party voting will no longer be an option.

Kassis won in Bethlehem and Easton, and in Easton, he even topped John in a few precincts. This plus the unexpectedly high turnout;,edto his victory.
Vic Scomillio knew he needed to make a dent in Bethlehem, and planted himself at Precinct 14-1 on Election Day. He remained there the entire day, greeting voters. But when the vote was tallied, he only had 151 votes, only 41 more than Tom Carroll.

Terry Houck defeated Tom Carroll by 29,875 to 23,988. Although Carroll got the racist vote, he probably also received votes from Republicans who simply knew noting about him except his party.

The new voting machines were easy to use. I particularly liked the opportunity to view (behind glass) my actual ballot before hitting the “cast” button.
Bernie, maybe you can answer these questions. First, who locks the door of the cast ballots box, and who would be able to verify there were not already ballots inside prior to the poll opening? Also, who opens the locked box, and is the contents verified after the polls close, and before results are announced?
Overall, I consider the new system an improvement. Reading elsewhere, other counties used different systems and numerous voters were unhappy. Berks County, in particular.

Not necessarily. Of those 68% I’m sure some of those still voted straight party without selecting the option. I’m sure some of them still voted all Republican or all Democrat.

"Carroll got the racist vote", agreed! Sadly, a new councilman campaigned with him, smiles and all.People are often the same as the company they keep.
After 45 was elected, I promised myself that I would never vote for a Republican until he is out of office. I broke my promise on Tuesday, simply because the Republican Council members in the district which I reside were superior to the Democrat candidates and like the Democrat that I am, I voted the person, not the party. However, I did vote for Morganelli, Houck and Kassis. Great wins on Tuesday!
It is truly sad that some voters just vote for "their" party and disregard the actual stand of whom they are casting their ballot.
Morganelli is his own institution. He has a belief set that is not about the people but rather about politicians. Anyone remember his handling of the Nazareth politicians. Very suspect.

The total votes cast in the judicial race was 94,394 so Morganelli’s percentage is 46%. You have to tally up all of the votes for all of the candidates to arrive at the proper percentage. You are using the same fuzzy math as the mainstream media.
He received 43,115 votes from the 57,680 voters who voted on Tuesday. That is 75%.
Why will voters be unable to vote straight party in 2020?
Because of a state law recently adopted, abolishing it.
