The Passion of the Pawlowski

According to prominent Philadelphia defense lawyer Jack McMahon, Allentown Mayor Edwin "Fed Ed" Pawlowski is looking forward to his day in court. He is going to make mincemeat of an "extraordinarily weak" prosecution. He said this yesterday afternoon at the stoop outside of Pawlowski's downtown 11th Street home. And he made a rather unsettling analogy. Fed Ed is apparently Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God and Light of the City Without Limits.

Well, we all know what happened to Jesus Christ, so he may want to rethink that one. If McMahon was really convinced this was a weak case, and if Fed Ed really cared about the City, they would both insist on invoking the Speedy Trial Act and demand their day in court well before the election. But McMahon deftly sidestepped questions about that yesterday as deftly as the NBA superstar his father once was.

Several people told me they saw me there, but I skipped this event. I was on my way to a basketball game at Cedar Beach, and wanted to make sure the rims were still there. I did watch the video shot by Lehigh Valley Live's Sarah Cassi, and loved her story that included the reactions of kids who were riding their bikes in the neighborhood. I'm sure they were excited to be part of this story.

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords flatly denied he had used his public office to benefit himself in any way, but the federal indictment completely contradicts him. In Paragraph after paragraph, there are allegations that Fed Ed himself strong-armed city vendors, and even had one of them take him to dinner and an Eagles play-off game.

Jesus Christ is an Eagles' fan.

One of his Apostles, Mike Fleck, promised Fed Ed to "beat the shit" out of Allentown Attorney Scott Allinson when he balked at making more contributions.

Allinson made clear that he expected legal work in exchange for donations. He said it “isn’t like we are being hired because we are good guys. It’s not the way this shit works.” He implied that his own lawfirm, Norris McLaughlin, gets work on the basis of political contributions, not because of any legal acumen. Allinson is still a member of that firm, which represents several municipal authorities in the Lehigh Valley. Those contracts need to be terminated.

And so it goes for 55 counts.

Unlike Jesus Christ, Fed Ed blamed everything on Mike Fleck, who apparently forced Fed Ed to go to an Eagles' game.

Fed. Ed is in complete denial. His refusal to step down has hurt the City of Allentown. It has also hurt his own children.

I fell sorry for them. For the Messiah, not so much. .

He is innocent until proven guilty and need not resign. Being taken to an Eagles game and having dinner is not illegal. Let real lawyers work this out.

Let the man have his day in court. If convicted, then skin him alive.

Where there's this much smoke there's got to be a raging five alarm fire. If Pawlowski were really concerned about clearing his name as fast as possible he would be invoking the Speedy Trial Rule, as you pointed out. The fact that he won't speaks volumes. He is just a lying, scheming politician and we will try to persuade O'Connell to lower his salary to $10/year to force his hand.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Can't do that legally. You can reduce the salary, but only for the Mayor that takes office four years from now.

Chicago Ed is going no where.

Is Hyman for real or hand-picked by Ed to be his general election opposition?

Lets get on to the election and let the debate begin.

The Ed NIZ versus the $700,000,000 Allentown taxpayers owe for the Water Authority deal.

The city already cannot meet its payment obligations. Refinancing may take the cost to over $1,000,000,000 for Allentown taxpayers.

That is possibly another $300-400 for every taxpayer or more for the next 30-40 years. (READ the flight of the taxpayer from Allentown, READ this is how Detroit happened)

And, the taxpayers of Allentown who are paying the price for the water deal, are also paying more for water than their neighbors outside Allentown - roughly 2 times for per 1000 gallons.

Want to talk about a crime.

The only ones who won here are the developers outside Allentown who get cheap water courtesy of the Allentown taxpayer.

any question how to vote in November?

Fed Ed and company including Jim Hickey guilty as sin!!!!!!! Lock them up! Flight risks. No bail!

Ah, "The passion of Pawlowski" starring Ed as Jesus, Fleck as Judas, and Walter Felton as St. Peter denying he knows Ed three times. Who in the crowd will jump out and bear Ed's cross for him? Will lightning strike City Hall when Ed is finally convicted and sentenced for his sins? Best Press conf line I have heard in a while, comparing Fleck to Judas. The Thing is, Pawlowski was the one getting all the pieces of Silver

The indictment mentions an unnamed employee of Flecks political consulting company. It doesn't not mention Sam. Who were Fleck's employees? Where are they now? Are any still involved in politics with any politicians in any way? Let us get all the facts out and stop stonewalling?

In a city of secrets, why are these your secrets? What is going on?

He's taking the time to pad his pension that's the only income his family will have.

Anonymous said...

"The Ed NIZ" was created by Pat Browne manipulating the state fiscal code to enrich his buddy Reilly and other "consultants." Fed Ed had nothing to do with it.

Glad to see hickey finally get his due. Been a back door boy for decades.

If I were Mayor Pawlowski I'd get a new attorney. I saw that circus on 11th Street yesterday and whomever he is, he's not a criminal attorney. He may say he is but that news conference was a circus that started badly and degenerated into a shouting match.

Any client facing 53 criminal charges needs a professional litigator and negotiator. Mayor Pawlowski has someone that may be good at wills and trusts, but from what I saw he knows little about how to present his client in public. He needs a polished professional such as a Robert Shapiro if he expects to see the light of day within a decade.

The deity of Ed Pawlwoski is spelled out in this great chapter of the holy bible Allentown version: Pawlowski to Fleck and Associates, to campaign donors, and finally tribute into the coffers of his many campaigns [mayor, governor & senator]. The evidence in this 60-page charging document is overwhelming. Of course, his friend Allan Jennings, political supporter & Lehigh County Democratic Chairman Walt Felton, the uninformed Spanish community, and the immigrant bastion from Syria, all believe this guy is the next coming! This is despite the 9 co-conspirators, 11 unindicted witnesses, and numerous recordings/wiretaps. All we got from the king of Kings himself, I didn't do anything wrong and Judas [Fleck] did it. This doesn't count the six times he lied to the FBI about people and issues. I have the nails and wood if he has the time.

I had the impression the street lighting contract had special requirements and/or equipment specs that only one vendor could meet. Were there any other competitive bids recieved for this work or was there a sole bidder?

Bernie, wasn't this stretch guy part of the all seeing eyes of the goon squad with him and hanna driving around in the meat wagon years ago in anchient times? Now they are some sort of gardians for the county in the double dipp pension proCUREment?

High information voters are rallying around the Mayor.
Fear not, the inner city wing of the Lehigh County Democratic Party is strong.

Funny how all of the Pawlowski have now jumped shipped when it is no longer expedient to align with the Mayor. For over a decade,
we had to endure the photo ops with the boy state representatives at ribbon cuttings. For over a decade, we had to endure the major media outlets gush over the mayor, endorse him for elections, endorse his failed predecessor Afflerbach. Anyone who thinks Allentown is better off now is mistaken or is too young to remember the greatness of what was Allentown. We now know what many thought - Allentown was for sale. I say shame on so many who supported this guy - and now try to look righteous. These people weren't duped by him - they rode his coat tails.

IT'S THE MOODY BIBLE COLLEGE DEFENSE, WITH FED ED AS JESUS AND FLECK AS JUDAS. JIM

Jamie Kelton, McMahon is an excellent criminal defense lawyer. My criticism of him is that he tends to gas up his clients. He did that to Graf. He did it with the young man accused of hit-and-run. He gives them unrealistic expectations so long as there is money. He has entered his appearance for Pawlowski, so the money is still there.

I have deleted an anti-Semitic attack at Trotner that comes from a Fed Ed supporter.

So where was the meeting held when they tried to strong arm Wolf and he stormed out of the meeting state he never want to entertain that group again?

Bernie, the Pawlowski Jesus graphic is priceless.

I watched the McMahon-Pawlowski presser yesterday and wondered if the question about the Speedy Trial Act resulted from a reporter reading this blog.

My jaw hit the floor when McMahon said that Pawlowski had been falsely accused the way that Jesus was falsely accused by Judas. Apart from that breathtakingly bad statement, I could see the influence of smart PR folks making the best of a bad situation.

Nevertheless, I don't recall Jesus swapping official blessings for Eagles playoff tickets.

Question for McMahon: If Pawlowski is really Jesus, why did the Eagles lose that game?

Quite honestly, I don't see a whole lot here that doesn't rely on Mike Fleck or Sam Ruchluwicz. Lappen stated that the Mayors were the master minds of this? I guess he never met Mike or Sam before. LOL

Mayor Ed will be re-elected, vindicated, and ultimately promoted all the while he will be jamming out on his drum kit, helping city workers, and banging his sexy ginger squeezebox (missionary only) twice a day.

Meanwhile Bernie and his ilk will continue to be unemployed, bored, and sexually inactive spare the daily fapping sessions.

hey canarie in coalmine, aka rick orloski,

surprised you still have a law license. I guess when your jaw hit the floor, it traveled a total of 3 feet. I would guess a lucifer book mark like yourself never read the story of judas.

shut the fuck up and keep your head right where it is, tucked tightly . Eagles tickets are not all that expensive, but I guess your dead beat client base has you racking up a mighty big tab on that pice of shit office on cedar crest.

hit the street corners with a cup. by the looks of you, you will draw great sympathy

Ed went against the grain of the dem/ socialist agenda which is always to keep a ghetto worse than it was the year before. For that he has paid a big price. vindication coming his way. Take your commie freak disbarred paralegal to the edge and jump on the count of 3

chow ,

It's strategically smart for Pawlowski to insist that he's fighting the charges and will continue being Mayor. Nobody will donate to his campaign fund if it looks like he'll be vacating the office, and his campaign fund is his only way to pay legal fees.

Speaking of his campaign fund, when do we next get to learn who is donating?

2d Friday pre-election is October 23.

LOL at Judas who thinks I am Rick Orloski. Guess again.

Since you know the Bible so well, how about citing the chapter and verse where Jesus swapped official blessings for Eagles playoff tickets?

I've read both indictments cover to cover and still can not see the crime committed by Hickey. I think he gets off. Allinson, not so much.
The US attorney is putting too much credit in the laps of some very bad guys who have each been shaking people down for years.

We can't seem to get rid of Fleck's old employees they seem to have 9 lives. They are still running around in Democratic politics

This is the Lehigh County Democratic Party that Ed and Fleck built (while Fran ran the plantation).
It worked quite well for Ms. Moore and the rest of the leadership as well as for a covey of current politicians, representatives and legislators.
Now it's rats off a sinking ship, every man and woman for themself.

Glad to see Hickey got indicted. That guy is no good. Wish the FBI would look into his dealings and relationships with other communities and people in the Lehigh Valley.

It's been said here before: many more good people will be hurt before this corrupt, lying, thuggish administration is finally stopped.

I'm suspending all judgement untill Alan Jennings pending Mornin Call piece and WDIY interview.

50 felony charges. Is Ed going to get bail when he appears in front of a Federal magistrate ? That's very serious and not to be taken lightly.

Anonymous said...

Let's all repeat: It's not the Democratic Party. It's not the Democratic Party It's not the Democratic Party.

If Ed is as innocent as he claims to be, he should absolutely request the Speedy Trial Act. That way his name would be cleared for the November election. Otherwise he is in denial as well as showing his arrogance.

After reading the indictment, there is no way he is innocent of all of the charges in it. HE may get off some of them, but with his arrogance he is going to jail.

Trade you one Ron Angle for Pawlowski.

It is insane how many cases Jack McMahon gets in this area. He must be a hell of a lawyer.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Canary, I will check into that tonight.

Bernie, do you know why Ed was arraigned in Philadelphia today and not in the Federal Courthouse in Allentown?

Anonymous said...

His story [Pawlowski] is from the Rod Blagojevich playbook. Of course, just like Blago, he maintained his innocent demeanor and is now serving 14-years in prison. View the story on Wikipedia and look at the similarities in the saga. You'll be amazed!

The unsung (or at least under-sung) hero here is Louis D. Lappen, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Allentownians owe him a debt of gratitude for his tenacity in enforcing the law.

Is there anything stopping the Democratic committee from endorsing a more suitable candidate? It would seem to square with their demands for his resignation. Hard to believe they'll continue to endorse a candidate under federal indictment if they have an off ramp. Hell, change any rules and make an off ramp. This story is going to get a lot more interesting before it's over. You have a book in you, Bernie?

@11:19
True Jesus does love them however anyone who has ever dealt with them outside of sucking up to center city constituents, knows they are far from god faring people.

They epitomize the current, eat your young, politician that will do and say anything for votes. Behind the scenes they are horrible people.

As for the Lehigh County Dems, they should be the model of how to keep failing the party. Walt Felton made two terrible and rookie mistakes. One being he ran 6 candidates all the way to election and allowed disgraced politician to slime his way into the nomination with 28% of the vote.

The second and just as damaging mistake was the ridiculous presser, the night of the indictment, to re enforce his weak indicted candidate and terrible decision making. Nat Hyman may actually win do to Walt Felton s follies. He needs to resign as well.

Anonymous said...

Big Walt did what he was installed to do.

Anonymous said...

Jesus would not have been spared had he been processed through our justice system.

Bernie O'Hare said...

A few points. First, Walt is no rookie. He's been a political animal for many years. Second, he's a nice guy but a terrible speaker. I understood that he was only speaking for himself, but he failed to make that clear. Third, no party chair should ever discourage Democrats from running. Yes, it may end up with the result we had in Allentown, but I prefer that to the boys in the back room, calling the shots. This is a democratic republic, not an oligarchy. I would prefer to see changes made in how we tabulate votes so that a majority candidate emerges instead of a plurality candidate, but resent very much when party bosses think they know better than the people. That's one thing I hate about the R party. The committee in Harrisburg decides who should run for statewide offices. I think the people should decide.
