In recent years, that funding has increased from $1,840,253 in FY2007 to $1,945,337 in FY2010. Bethlehem ($1.83 million) and Easton ($1.04 million) receive their own funds. This flexible grant money is used for affordable housing, job creation, services to vulnerable citizens and infrastructure. Kim offered some slides showing your money at work, and one project is for servicing these hoppers at Walnutport's municipal building.
According to Schaffer, the proposed 62% cut in FY2011 is "disastrous," and means Northampton County will lose $1.2 million.

Close the Department. How many people work in that Department anyway. Waste of taxpayer money!
anon 1243 - agreed.
i believe shaffers salary is paid by CDBG monies. when the monies are cut her salary should be cut. she'll have less to do
Everybody knows there's no more money and our spender bender tab is finally coming due. We've tapped out our next several generations and are out of options. The complaining of the day, from Wisconsin to Easton, is primarily among those whose gravy train has reached its final destination. The cuts and ongoing cutting culture are certainly "disastrous" to Schaffer and all those who work in the bureaucracy industry.
"Waste of taxpayer money!"
Actually, most of the local street projects you see are funded w/ CDBG money, from Glendon to Pen Argyl.

Surprise, surprise the economic train wreck is in our backyard.
anon 12:42 and 6:08 - why is that department such a problem? What would happen to the work they do if they went away?
It is all taxpayer money. Dump these hack jobs and save money.
"It's impossible for the US to run out of money."
