On December 17, Philadelphia Senior Judge John Braxton ruled against Northampton County Council President Ron Angle in a dispute concerning his father's estate. "[Angle] has failed to prove the formalities of execution of May 15, 2009 Will," concluded the jurist. He found that an earlier will, offered by Angle's sister-in-law, is the real deal.
Phil Lauer, representing Angle, filed post-trial motions on Monday that essentially argue that Braxton erred, as a matter of law, in concluding that the May 15 Will was improperly executed.

Bernie, I missed your spin..errrr I mean take on the initial decision by this Judge, but I guess your silence on the subject has been deafening!!!!
Judge Braxton set forth the rules for his own demise in his own opinion. He points out that Angle has the initial burden of establishing the formalities of execution. Once he does that, the burden shifts to a party alleging forgery to prove it by clear and convincing evidence.
Having correctly stated the law, he claims that Angle somehow failed to establish that it was properly executed.
This is legal error. The Will was in fact witnessed by two people, so the formalities of execution were established.
I would have thought that the newspapers, or some "legal expert" would have echoed that opinion.
I guess you are alone in your thinking.
The newspapers have not yet reported the existence of the post trial motions. And in a news account, I do not think they would seek "legal experts." But at least one legal expert does share that opinion. His name is Phil Lauer.
"But at least one legal expert does share that opinion. His name is Phil Lauer."
Of course he does, that is what Angle is paying him to do.
The same Phil Lauer who is County council solicitor as well as Angle's personal lawyer, how convenient.
The Judge probably is as aware of the Law as Mr. O'Hare. But maybe the judge was biased because Mr. Angle was condemned by the NAACP. Maybe Ron can claim discrimination.
Once again the world is wrong and Angle is right. At least that is what Angle pays O'Hare to peddle to the public.

Actually, Angle is a member of the NAACP. Also, explain the conflict. How does Lauer's representation of Angle in a will dispute in any way affect his representation of County Council? If Lauer perceived a conflict, he would step aside. I believe previous Council soliciotrs also represented council members individually and nobody complained. It becaomes an issue only bc it is Angle.
Anyone can join the NAACP. Just get the card and pay the dues. So because he joined that means his bigoted comments and official condemnation are erased. Nice spin there Bernie. Of course that is what you are paid to do.
People who hate blacks don't generally join the NAACP. And Angle has belonged to the NAACP for years.
Mr. O Hare does not have a good track record on predicting legal outcomes involving Mr. Angle. As I recall, Mr. O Hare called the District Attorneys Motion to Dismiss Mr. Angle's appeal on the grounds of mootneess in the dual office case "Laughable"!! But the DA won that case on the "laughable" motion-- the supreme Court did not think it was "laughable" - they dismissed Mr. Angle's appeal in a one sentence order.
I felt Angle would win before Franciosa. I was wrong. I felt he would win before Braxton, I was wrong. But I knew the appeal to the Supreme Court would be difficult bc it was being forced to render a decision right away. On the merits, Morganelli's motion to dismiss the appeal was laughable.
You never know what a judge or horse is going to do. That's why we have courtrooms and horseraces.
Bernie, You are correct, you never know what a judge will do. Horses are very predictable the ones I wager on come in out of the money!
And the two witnesses were?
LOL
Come on people Angle has a reputation as an honorable and honest businessman. he feeds widows and cloths orphans he is a giant among men.
" Horses are very predictable the ones I wager on come in out of the money!"
Let's go to the Downs.
Hey 6:34 what drugs are you on? Please tell, I need to get a hold of some of that.
The idea of an African-American Judge deciding against Angle must have him boiling, given his history.
Karma ~
Ron Angle is a good example of the Pareto principle, aka the 80-20 rule, applied to law. That is, our 20% most litigious create 80% of the courts' work.
What is the status of the possible forgery investigation?
Forgery is ongoing
I heard from a neighbor of Rons that I ice fish with, an unmarked car with PA plates was seen going into his property . Any comment or confirmation on that Bernie?
I have heard the State Police are still reviewing the documents and have not come to a conclusion at this time. Rumor has it they were awaiting the judge and any appeals. I wouldn't count on Bernie's spin to shed any credible light on this issue.
If and when it happens we will know. I hear Karoly offered to be a character witness for Angle.
Judson Phillips, head of Tea Party Nation, recently released his picks for 2010's "top five liberal hate groups." Among them is the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a selection that is unlikely to smooth the rocky relationship that has developed between the two organizations over the past year.
"To the NAACP, anyone to the right of Karl Marx is a racist," Phillips writes in a post on his website.
In July, NAACP President Ben Jealous addressed mounting complaints from his members that the Tea Party promotes racist rhetoric, resolving to confront the issue.
