Earlier this week, I took NorCo Council member Kelly Keegan to task for complaining about the "spandex ass" of a woman who dared to stand in front of her at last weekend's Bernie Sanders rally. This blue MAGA warrior also did no favors for someone she supports in this year's Exec race - Tara Zrinski.
Zrinski, who has done an admirable job as Controller, is in a testy battle with former elections registrar Amy Cozze. Zrinski's biggest negative is that she has run for 6 offices over the past 9 years. Her second biggest negative is that she is perceived by some as simply too extreme.
Over many years before she decided to seek public office, Zrinski has been and remains an ardent environmentalist. That's hardly extremist. I know plenty of conservatives who are environmentalists as well. Many of them are hunters and fisherman, and they understand better than most that our natural resources are finite. She has fought against sludge and landfill expansions and has worked at improving the water quality in our streams. It is only when she strays from these issues, about which she is well-informed, that she gets into trouble. That's when she gets labeled an extremist.
So, what does Kelly Keegan do?
She posts a picture of Zrinski, at the Bernie Sanders rally, standing with some of the most extreme Democrats in the Lehigh Valley. This includes Ce-Ce Gerlach. As you may recall, Gerlach was placed on ARD for endangering the welfare of a minor runaway that she dumped off at some homeless camp. Gerlach Voted No to several grants for Allentown police and was one of the big supporters of an employee now accused of false reports for placing a noose on her computer and calling it racial intimidation. She also wanted to have social workers, and not police, respond to 911 calls.
I could go over the rest of this crew and their background, but I think you get the point. Those of you from Allentown may recognize some of them. They make Bernie Sanders look like an archconservative.
Now I understand that Zrinski has almost no control over who the people are who stand next to her in a photo. I can't really blame her, But I can blame Keegan for the utter stupidity of posting that picture on Facebook. What was she thinking?
As someone who has been highly critical of Cozze for blackmailing the county with a resignation tendered just 12 days before an election, there is no way I will vote for her for anything. But that picture really shook me up. All that was missing was Taiba Sultana.

As a Democrat, I will vote for Cozze. I don’t believe Tara could beat Giovani in the fall. Zrinski and the far left is why we lost to Trump. What’s the county budget, 300 million, 2300 employees? This is a serious job. Also Bernie, the word is Zrinski did horrible with her AFSME interview and the County staff is rallying for Cozze. Could you look into that? I’m hearing it from more and more county employees.
Maybe she is secretly for Amy, and is just being passive aggressive on her postings. She at least, like you said, should have thought this posting through, I wouldn't stand with that cop hating child endangering POS.
Tara's campaign is in trouble and the McClure gang is worried. She lied to the reporter about running for another office during her term. TZ is in it for the 20k raise and pension bump. Nadeem took 40% against her two years ago and Amy is a far more qualified candidate than he.
This picture 'shook' you? That is the most dramatic thing you have ever said. If this picture shook you then you need meds. And if you think that people are changing their vote because Keegan posted this you need more meds. No one is on her social media. No one cares.

Tara has a record of years of accomplishments and a solid voting record for things Democrats favor I’m voting Tara now and in the Fall!!

8:52, I do. She is intelligent and has more experience than Cozze.. I also like her hires as Controller. She brought in Goudzousian as her Solicitor, and he is probably one of the sharpest lawyers in the LV. He made sure that her lead auditor got recognized as such and more appropriately compensated. And her Deputy Controller, a political appointee, is himself an atty and makes sure that the Controller's office follows everything. I believe her when she says she wants to help people bc that is what I have seen. And Barron would be her fiscal supervisor but would not run the county. He is worth keeping bc the changes he made in fiscal have saved millions. I like how the county leveraged $ so it could buy the human services building. That was his thinking. Tara would also bring empathy to the exec office, something that has been missing at times. I believe she would be more sympathetic to employees than Lamont, Brown, Stoffa. She would be more like Jerry Seyfried was. But I admit that pic really bothered me and still does. She can do a lot of good for people as Exec, but the Gerlachs of the LV will just divide us.

I was a County employee, worked with Amy Cozze and I will not vote for her. Many of my former colleagues feels the same way.

Tara bombed the meeting with the county employees. Told the COs the one thing that would get them all to not vote for her. Then told the nurses how they are saving money by having a daycare on campus at gracedale. It never opened. How the hell does the county controller not know it isn't open. Wtf. Then tell the employees how bad their benefits are because she had to pay 18000 dollars for her benefits last year. She lied or was totally wrong to all 3 main units there.
