Bethlehem's FOP Endorses Bethlehem Mayor Willie Reynolds

During political campaigns, politicians love to brag about endorsements from ... other politicians. Frankly, endorsements from former Senator Bob Casey or Exec Lamont McClure mean next to nothing to me. But there are two kinds of endorsements that mean a lot to me in urban races. These are the ones made by local FOPs and firefighters. These men and women put their lives on the line every day for people they don't know. They keep our cities safe.

With that in mind, you should know that Bethlehem's FOP, its rank-and-file police officers, has voted to endorse Willie Reynolds for re-election as Bethlehem's Mayor.

When Easton Mayor Sal Panto first ran for office, his mantra was "clean and safe." To this day, that is still his mantra. If a city is clean and safe, people will want to live, work and play there.

You can talk about affordable housing. You can preach about economic development and offer all kinds of public candy (tax breaks) to developers. But the one thing that works is keeping a city clean and safe.

NARRATOR: Catchy slogans aside, Easton was neither clean nor safe. There were shootings and stabbings withing blocks of the police station.

Bethlehem is no longer clean & safe- Wee Willie has been a terrible Mayor.

According to Google AI, "Bethlehem is generally considered safe, with the north part of the city being considered the safest. However, based on FBI crime data, Bethlehem is not one of the safest communities in America. The city ranks in the 52nd percentile for safety, meaning it is safer than 52% of cities but less safe than 48%. For tourists, Bethlehem is generally safe, but it's important to stay informed about local conditions and respect local customs. The total crime rate in Bethlehem is 19 per 1,000 people, which is lower than the national average."

How quickly the rank and file forget about Pee Wee Willie went woke and either wanted to or did vote to defund the police

That's bc your assertion is false. No one on Bethlehem City Council, which then included both Reynolds and Smith, voted or wanted to defund the police. If there was any truth to your lie, FOP would never have endorsed Willie. In fact, Reynolds and Smith cosponsored a resolution that modified the use-of-force policy. https://www.governing.com/community/bethlehem-wont-defund-police-will-take-on-systemic-racism.html

If you want to attack a candidate, at least be honest.

Below is from the 07/07/20 City Council Meeting where residents discussed wanting to defund the police. You can draw your own conclusions from what Reynolds said.

Mr. Reynolds remarked he first wanted to thank everyone for coming out today and for everything that was said. He agrees with a lot of it. For his full-time job he teaches at Allen High School and he knows that the best classes he has ever taught and the classes where he feels the most learning goes on are the ones where there is the most amount of discomfort, disagreement, the class going in a direction that maybe was not where they thought it was going at the beginning. What is in front of us here is really a concept. He attended and marched in every one of the rallies that have gone on in Bethlehem in the last several weeks. The energy and the action there has been unbelievable and the people in this room deserve a ton of credit for that as did a lot of the speakers.

The FOP must want a favorable union contract.

Um, funny how you quote just a portion of what Reynolds said and not all of it. And you fail to point what Grace Crampsie Smith said as well. She and Williw were in agreement! You fail to note that bc you are a liar.
Here's a link to the meeting: https://www.bethlehem-pa.gov/getattachment/f05f6555-a650-4806-92e2-507929a1a6ab/COBCalendar_MeetingMinutes.aspx

And here's a part of what Grace said: "Ms. Crampsie Smith reiterated what Mr. Reynolds stated thanking everyone who came out and who called tonight to give input on this Community Engagement Initiative. She also agreed with many things that were said. There is some misconception about what our vision was with this initiative. She also attended all the rallies and marches in the City after the murder of George Floyd and it was after one of the rallies that she saw Mr. Reynolds and she was thinking that we need to give the citizens of this city a voice beyond the rallies. "

They were in agreement. And neither ever even hinted at defunding police. You are a liar.

Bernie, you truly believe George Floyd was murdered?

Did Willie not state what was quoted? Did he not march in the rallies? Not sure where the lie is being told.

The real story is the FOP organization has no choice considering the vindictive Reynolds should he win. The policemen themselves will be voting for Grace.

Grace will treat them right no matter what the FOP does as she has strong family Union roots.

Disgusted by those who report half stories to promote them as true stories. Then the less critical thinkers jump on the make believe bandwagon. Then they vote based on bullsh*t.

8:59, The FOP is the policemen themselves. It is the union representing regular officers. Who they vote for is up to them, and my guess is that a lot of them live outside the city. But they voted to endorse Willie. That's just the way it is. Of course, Grace has strong union ties and her own father was a police chief. I am not knocking her.

Reynolds is a far left woke Dem. If one thing was made clear by Trumps victory is that the country has had enough of the far left. Dems better get their shit together and quickly or they will get wiped out in the mid terms. The people who swing every election in this country are center right and moderates. The sweep of every swing state by Trump sent a big message. Dems need to learn a quick lesson and get the party back the basic things that people expect from their government. Bethlehem should wake up and see where Bethlehem has gone under Reynolds.

Very little to show on affordable housing for all thd bluster. Martin Tower was ready to build 1700 units 3 years ago & give $7 million to affordable housing fund.

Reynolds thwarted that due to his inability to negotiate fairly with anyone as it is his way or the highway.

52 acres essentially sits undeveloped because of Reynolds. Grace will make it happen.
