Following the Money: Last Minute $ Pours into NorCo Exec Race

Under Pa. campaign finance law, contributions or pledges of $500 or more that are made between the date of the PrePrimary campaign finance report (May 4) and election day (May 20) must be reported.

In the NorCo Exec race, Tara Zrinski reports having received $5,000 from Exec Lamont McClure. This is in addition to $5,000 he previously gave her. She also received $2,000 from Lehigh County Exec candidate Josh Siegel. Finally, she accepted $1,000 total from Michael and Don Corriere. Michael is an assistant county solicitor. She also raked in $5,000 from IUOE.

Amy Cozze took in $1,000 from a D.C. - based PAC calling itself "We invest in Lives and Dreams."  According to Open Secrets, that PAC is associated with Susan Wild.  She also accepted $500 from Bethlehem Attorney John Fruend, $500 from Liz Kelly (NorCo's former Humans Resources Director) and $1,000 from Wild supporter Murat Guzel

Worth noting that Tzara also received $2,000 from Josh Siegel's committee. That's a huge red flag right there. Too bad the other Dem. option isn't a wise choice, either.

Amy gets money from outside the county, REALLY, your joking right?

So the Controller has taken 10K from the Executive she's supposed to provide fiscal oversight of. Nothing to see here.

Wild should be propping up Carol OD’s failing campaign with her “Leadership PAC.” It seems like the government to corporation to government merry-go-round isn’t as easy to hop on and off of.

Wow Lamont really has some cash to dole out, doesn't he? What a humble public servant, he's so generous.

Yeah it’s a bad candidate and a worse candidate. Can’t believe this is the best Dems can do.

Agree with above. With his own campaign gearing up soon, why so heavily invested in propping Zirinski up?

Since his PAC money won’t transfer over to his Congressional race and Cozze worked for him, that should tell you that he feels she will not move the County in the right direction. Love him or hate him Northampton County is well run by his Administration.

8:34: -- It's his committee. Someone/group donates to the committee and then he doles it out. These committees don't just buy signs and fliers and advertising, they also love to suck each other off and donate back and forth to each other.

Rubbish. This is personal. Lamont despises Amy for going to Council for the raise he denied her.

How is it any different from the other two Allentown reps giving money to Cozze?

@7:52 fair point about Cozze, but I would beg to differ that the county is run well. It seems like every year there is some new financial issue, staff morale is in the gutter, and they've let a number of good partnerships wither because of the autocratic management style. But hey, no tax increases and incessant press releases go a long way

He want to make sure she covers up his malfeasance, he’s paying zerinsky to keep his secrets

Ellen S. Kingsley for MDJ said...

I defended myself from erroneous allegations, and reported what occurred, admittedly with some unfavorable opinions about my challenger. He has tried to further engage, and I have refrained. There has been no ongoing battle, as a result.
That said, I am the only candidate with decades of trial experience in both civil and criminal matters, and in mediating and arbitrating cases, including appeals from district courts. What's not noted above is my time as a law clerk, and my service as Assistant Solicitor for the county for 8 years. In addition, I have handled cases in front of Magisterial District Judges from property disputes to traffic offenses, as well as preliminary hearings and more over the expanse of my career. My experience is broader than noted, and much of what I've done lends itself to the position. I will also note that only those who are not lawyers need to be certified to serve as MDJ.

@4:05, name a “financial issue” the fault of the McClure Administration. I’ll wait. You’re a lying moron, so there won’t be one, but I’ll wait none-the-less.

Unaccounted for money at Gracedale - or as you all prefer to reference it as, money that moved at Gracedale without Council's (legally required) approval.

Will be curious how much of this generous money Lamont is doling out miraculously appears back in his Congressional account after he's funneled it through other PACs - assume the FEC will be curious about that as well.

Mention anything financial and there's always someone who comes out of the woodwork that's quick to call people "liars" and "morons" and all sorts of other ad hominems. Someone is taking it personally, obviously.

There was just two issues in the past few months, where there were serious questions about where the bonus money earmarked for Gracedale nurses went, and the fact that the regular financial reports are supposedly "not worth the paper they're printed on" until the audit. That last one is especially concerning.
