When Abe Atiyeh dared question his government about the constitutionality of the NIZ, he was hit almost immediately with a $50 million countersuit by Allentown. It was a SLAPP suit, obviously designed to keep him in his place and to deter others from exercising their constitutional right to question their own government.
Instead of defending the First Amendment, the Morning Call piled on. Atiyeh was caricatured by a picture with him in a wooden hat, , and columnist Bill White lampooned him, too.
Allentown has just withdrawn a countersuit that should never have been filed in the first place.

That sounds like over half the lawsuits Ron angle files.
Really? What the hell would you know about a Ron Angle lawsuit? I do know this much. You are too much of a coward to identify yourself, and Angle no longer holds public office.
Bill White is like barron. He consistently makes a fool of himself.
The MC has become nothing but a joke as it's articles about this whole situation were thoughtless and of course one sided.
In short they editorialize more than they report.
allentown's and it's cart before the horse management has once again proven it is the city with no brains. Next time they say "trust me" to any other community, large or small, they will the the people running in the other direction.
The gag is and always will be one if not the main politically corrupt machines behind the dummy it has proped up to the public. With that said the king had his own agenda upon his arrival from moody colledge to the appointment to head allentowns economic destruction department.
Was there not monies misappropreated under his command of that city department too?
Bethlehem is doing what Allentown didn't have the balls to do, they don't play Atiyeh's game.
The guy buys property cheap in a certain zone, than dmeands to use it differnetly. He destroys a neighborhood then moves on.
Thanks, but no thanks. Next!
White is really small. All these guys scribbling for lower and lower wages and getting furloughed every four weeks are becoming increasingly angry.
Which neighborhoods Anon 3:20? Just curious.
Are there any truth to the comment section in the news post regarding Allentown dropping their suit against Atiyeh? One commenter is claiming that Atiyeh bribed a local borough by buying them new vehicles so they would approve his zoning requests? How come things like that don't make major headlines?
He's been "donating" to local pols for years.

Because the claim is false. It is defamation posted by Tricia Mezzacappa, whom I have had to sue myself. She claims that, as a drug cocktail prescribed for her by her physicians, she is incompetent to stand trial. The lady is a hater and fabricates stories about the objects of her venom.
Why do you contuinue to torment this young woman? She dumped you, get over it Bernie. It happens to us all. You really need to get off this Tricia thing.
She posted a defamatory claim on a news site, falsely accusing West Easton officials and Atiyeh of bribery. I pointed it out, in response to a question. I suppose I could have ignored the question, but i chose to answer it with the truth. It is a lie, part of her pattern. Now it's time for your drug cocktail.
What is the significance of a wooden hat?
When The MC publishes a story about Atiyeh, it uses a picture of him posing in a wooden hat. It's an attempt to make him look like an idiot. I know, bc I do that sort of thing all the time. It's to be expected from a bottom feeder. But a news organization that holds itself out as objective should get a better picture.
But like a tin foil hat is to block rays that can control the mind, is a wooden hat implying something along those lines? Or is just like you said? Just meant to make him look dumb. No underlying implications.
Atiyeh purchased a bunch of them for charity. He wears them from time to time as a joke. Featuring that picture in stories about Atiyeh is designed to make him appear like an idiot. You cannot do that and simultaneously claim to be objective.
Will Abe be dropping his or adding to facts of the criminal acts commited by this hole endevor?????
Do you think Abe joined the NIZ suit hoping Allentown would give him the zoning change he was looking for at the old Agere site so that he would drop his suit? What do you think?
If this were Bethlehem, I'd say it's business. But this is Allentown. Pawlowski and he are former allies turned enemies. I believe that Abe honestly feels Pawlowski is bad for the City, no matter what relief he gets or does not get from a ZHB that is supposed to be independent of the Mayor.
