Last week, I told you that Easton attorney Sam Murray is running for one of three open positions on Northampton County's bench. Others who have either announced or are rumored to be running include Judge Leonard Zito, District Attorney John Morganelli, State Representative Craig Dally, Magistrate Jim Narlesky, Barb Hollenbach and Candi Barr Heimbach. It's a strong field of excellent candidates, but we can only pick three.
Murray has launched a web page (you can view it here). It contains a partial list of supporters that extend from active trial attorneys like Gary Asteak to Easton Mayor Sal Panto.
If you have questions for him, you can contact him directly at sammurray@sammurrayforjudge.com.

Leonard is the only one with dignity, class and judicial temper and timber. Murray and Narlesky are nice guys. However we need a few more women on that bench....
Here we go ...
Your guy and Narlesky--pray he doesnt repeat his 1989 campaign--are good guys make good judges. Just Len Zito is in an exceptional category. And Hollenbach would bring balance. Regardless, Morganelli has the top spot probably on both tickets.
I don't really think gender should be an issue. I think the court should be determined on experience and the qualities mentioned about Murray in one of the last posts in the previous article, like his respect for participants in the courtroom.
Gender balance is important, so is socio-economic balance. Sam is one of us, he's been in the trenches and knows what it's like in the neighborhoods -- not just the burbs. He will bring respect, dignity and professionalism to the Bench and more importantly will perform his duties with a high degree of integrity and equality for all.
Thank you Sam for throwing running.
"However we need a few more women on that bench...."
Why, because they're women? That's a disgustingly sexist remark. The two women who have announced are both excellent candidates, and I just may vote for one of them, but not bc she is a woman.
What is sexist is the continuing lack of women on the County Bench. And yes both women and many others are qualified. However, we need more balance. Your remark is silly, insipid and ignorant. More qualified women on the bench is long long overdue. McFadden and Roscioli 2 in 200+ years...that is really progressive!
No, what is silly is the suggestion there should be some quota on female judges. That is ridiculous. Hollenbach and Heimbach, the two announced female candidates, are excellent lawyers. but if they are elected, it should be for that reason instead of the fact that they are female.
We have two female judges, one of whom happens to be president judge. The other female, Roscioli, is already known for having hissy fits with litigants and attorneys. Should we conclude from that attitude that all women make bad judges? That's equally ridiculous.
If you insist on voting for someone simply bc she is female or black or whatever, you run the risk of electing a very bad judge. Let's elect people on their merits, not their sex.
Amen, Bernie. It's about time people get past what they can see and vote with some intelligence. Female-Male, Black-White-Hispanic-Asian. Just as stupid as voting for the person simply because that person is tall or short. If voters really can't figure that one out? Lord, help us.
