Why Taiba Sultana Will Never Be Elected Ever Again

This is what former Easton City Council member Taiba Sultana posted on the 25th anniversary of 9/11:

25 years ago today, 2,977 people were killed.
In their name, the U.S. launched a “War on Terror” that cost about $8 trillion in public tax money and directly killed more than 900,000 people across Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Pakistan. Count indirect deaths from disease, hunger, and displacement, and the estimate climbs to 4.5 million deaths.
We were told it was justice. It was for arms profits, oil, and imperial control.
Honoring the fallen means condemning the lies that sent so many more to their graves.
I SAID WHAT I SAID!!!

  1. Funny thing is, she's not wrong and is low ballin it at 8 trillion dollars. Take this from a republican whose dream it was to go to the Naval Academy (until our imperial crusade began 25 years ago), we are all being lied to. Just like this war in Iran, we are being lied into interventions for unjust reasons.

Bernie, broken clocks are right twice a day.

    1. Unfortunately 431, I agree. Let's remember the bill of goods sold to us to enter that war. 1) WMDs that were never found and 2) Establish Democracy in the Middle East, which never occurred.

When W. Bush appeared in front of the banner "Mission Accomplished" the only mission he accomplished was assassinating Saddam Hussain. This is the main reason we invaded Iraq because, as W. admitted, "He threatened my pappy."

  2. Yet her husband, who without a doubt shares the same views, was embraced by democrats during his campaign and elected to the County Council. He and the continued republican support for Donald Trump are examples of what is wrong with partisan politics.

    1. He was the lowest vote-getter among 5 candidates who were elected. He was far from embraced. What hurt Rs and what continues to hurt them is a disastrous President who is screwing Americans at the gas pumps and in grocery stores while alienating us with long-time allies. Unfortunately, when you have 10 choices, even more moderate voters have a rough time getting to know them. Elias was the lead R but he is too close to Trump and has even appeared with him. Goffredo would have been good but he chose to spend no money.

    2. Dems did not run with him, there was no coordinated effort outside of Tara Jason and Dave, I think Lori and Terri worked together as well. Nadeem was just kind of there and when you have an overwhelming turnout advantage from one party and independents swinging to that same party, almost anyone with the right letter next to their name will win. Not to mention Tom was not a strong candidate, Sam and Daniel seemed to actually try, I forget the rest of them. If there wasn’t infighting Nadeem wouldn’t have even made it onto the ballot but here we are.

    3. Wages up poverty down in 2025 Bernie. That’s the census report released this morning. It’s not all good but at 4.1% unemployment the economy is doing fine. Biden caused the inflation and Trumps policies are not helping, in particular the tariffs. Gas is high, diesel at a record but that is more about Russia Ukraine war Ukraine has been taking out Russian diesel refineries.

    4. The last 3 Republican nominees have been a disaster!

  3. The same sentiment, said more eloquently, was expressed by the current Democratic mayor of Oakland, California, Barbara Lee, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1998 to 2025. She chose to resign from Congress in order to run for the Democratic nomination for Senate to replace Barbara Feinstein in 2024, but lost that race. She is currently on the ballot for reelection as Mayor of Oakland.

These are her comments, published in The Guardian on 9/9/21, “On 11 September 2001, the world witnessed a terrible attack against our nation that took thousands of lives and changed millions more lives forever. … The human cost has been high: an untold number of civilian casualties overseas, two generations of American soldiers sent to fight without any clear objective or oversight and thousands of our troops and other personnel killed, wounded and traumatized in action. The Afghanistan war alone has cost more than $2.6tn taxpayer dollars and killed more than 238,000 individuals. The 2002 AUMF, which authorized war against Iraq based on fabricated claims of weapons of mass destruction, has cost $1.9tn and killed an estimated 288,000.”

The belief that the US is the worst aggressor is a common theme in much of the Democrat party.

  5. Her comment jives very closely with opinions espoused within the DSA; a movement slowly beginning to take over the Democrat party.

There is no shortage of support for this type of opinion on college campuses.

10 years from now, we won’t recognize the party of the Ku Klux Klan.

Or will we? History comes full circle and repeats itself.

  6. I love the empty declarative "I said what I said". That's a verbal cue that the speaker is a simpleton, and you can safely ignore them.

  7. Overstated, but one does have to be honest and know that our actions were not completely pure. Just like our actions now in trump's war. Bye the way, thanks for allowing me to pay $4.59 for gas.

    1. In 2022 you were paying $5.05 under Biden. That’s back when the inflation rate was 9.1%.

    2. I paid 5.15 lol.

  8. She’s not wrong. Granted, this may be broken clock syndrome. And a good politician would have been more nuanced, I guess. But people are fed up with inauthenticity. #Mackenzie

  9. Don’t be so sure. People in this county, mostly democrats, voted for her husband. In fact, I would say half of democrats believe what she posted. Hasan Piker, Zohran Mandami, and Mohammed El Sayed are mainstream democrats now. This is what they believe. Mandami runs the biggest city in the country, all this yet you believe this is a “fringe” of your party. It’s not.

  10. Good to see that all that free time she has now hasn't affected her cognitive prowess. That happens when one is idle for a while, ya know.

  13. Sounds like someone is still "self-employed".

  14. Not sure why anyone pays attention to her. The commenters believe that she is a real Democrat, she isn't. Makes the commenters feel better, so go ahead and by all means, feel superior. So what?

  15. Sometimes when and how you say something are the best message. There was a better day to say this.

  16. Bernie I agree she will never be elected again, But that's because she was a horrible representative of her constituents. But regarding her 9/11 post no lies were told.
