Regular readers of this blog know I detest President Donald Trump. But I agree completely with his decision to authorize a joint US-Israeli attack aimed at Iran. It's about time.
We've been at war with Iran since 1979, when that country's militants attacked our embassy in Tehran and took 66 hostages. That war has continued with the murder of American troops in Beirut and with the IED devices it supplied to kill hundreds of Americans in Iraq. It has been a state sponsor of terror, arming Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Houthis and Shia militias. While denying nuclear ambition, it had enriched uranium nearly to the point in which it could build a nuclear bomb. This is the country that has referred to the US as "the Great Satan." It has called Israel a "cancerous tumor," using language that would make Hitler proud.
It brutally represses dissent. It has killed thousands just over the past few months. There is no gender equality. Women are inferior and can be beaten or fined if caught without a hijab. If you're gay and caught in a relationship, the punishment is death. Prostitute? Death. Blasphemy? Death.
So yes, this attack is overdue.
Is it legal? Many experts say No and that Trump needs Congressional authoriztion. They are forgetting his Article II powers, which are provided for in the Constituion. I believe it imbues the President with broad authority to use military force as he sees fit. This is also what past Presidents have done.

His popularity is in the shitter. He is reportedly mentioned thousands of times in the Epstein files, yet his name has been expunged from the public version of the files that have been released. His tariffs are a tax on Americans, not foreigners. We won't forget, while he plays his little wargames meant to distract us.
Thank you for an accurate (and refreshing) description of the situation concerning Iran. No one wants to see us tangled up in the mess Iran has made in the Middle East and around the world, but the barbaric behavior of Iran’s savage leaders over the years HAD to be stopped.
As the leading nation of the free world, and its most capable and powerful nation, America stepped up and answered the call for help. I admire our current President, Donald Trump, for showing the courage and resolve to accept this difficult challenge. THIS is leadership.

Iran was not an immediate threat. Every POTUS in my lifetime of 65+ years has had an Iran problem. I'm a non-MAGA, R who voted for Trump thrice, partially because he said he'd end the endless war cycle of Democrats and Bushes. What was the reason? What does victory look like? Nobody is saying, because they can't. This is the worst geopolitical decision in 100 years. Iran has 1 million men under arms. They have tens of thousand of missiles. They can't defeat the US. But this is never going to end. Rush Limbaugh was a blowhard, but he knew any military action in that area is about "the free flow of oil at market prices." We're trading lives for cheap gas. Trump needs to send Barron over there today.

Let's face facts. Jimmy Carter is responsible for this and the 47 years of misery and murder and and terror that followed. He could've built a million houses for the indigent after being trounced by Reagan, and it wouldn't have erased the stain that he ultimately was on US and world history. Weak men make hard times. Just ask Obama about his red line in Syria, or GW Bush about "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. If Trump bombs six more countries, will he get a Nobel Prize like Obama did before he bombed eight?

Those of us who were around during the Vietnam War era know well the folly of starting a war of which the American public does not approve. THAT'S why a President should get congressional approval. Apparently Trump didn't think he'd get it, and he's probably right.

No, taking out a world leader (and 48 other high-ranking Iranian officials) and bombing civilians at schools and hospitals without congressional approval or provocation by Iran is not legal under his article 2 powers.
They tried less than the Bush administration did, who at the very least got 43 nations to join the alliance and actually tried to get UN Security council support for the Iraq war. Trump admin lied and said they needed to do a "pre-emptive strike" because Iran was going to attack multiple strategic sites if we didn't. Trump's own pentagon refuted this claim.
I don't want to hear any process arguments, this is straight up illegal and we started a regional war in the middle east that will have consequences for years. Dems need to be more forceful on this, not this limp griping about "process". 4 service members have died so far, and more are to come.

I was assigned to an Ammunition Ship will serving a tour of duty in the sixth fleet. One of our assignments was to get into Libya and load up all the weapons (rockets, bombs, etc) and get them out of what was then a very unstable area. We did the same in Beirut, Lebanon and we made so many trips there we became known as the Beirut Express. The hatred for Americans was very strong by the leadership in the area and it hasn't changed. Those crazy Arabs have been fighting for thousands of years and nothing has changed. Although I firmly believe America getting involved over there is and was inevitable, I also firmly believe Donald Trumps getting involved simply to draw attention away from him and the EPSTEIN Investigation. He is a scumbag President and nothing will change that.

I'll disagree. Iran's reckless attacks on other Middle Eastern countries are drawing those countries closer to the US and Israel. Thus, this might actually stabilize the region. Iran, left unchecked, has already slaughtered thousands of innocent lives. It was also close to developing an ICBM that could reach Europe and was playing games, as it always does, in negotiations. Yes, it might raise oil prices briefly, but that's a small price to pay for saving lives and stopping a state sponsor of terror. It is ridiculous to suggest that we allow this to continue bc it might raise oil prices. Ride a frickin' bike! Take a bus! Don't be so entitled.
As for MAGA support, this blog has readers on both the right and the left and I usually oppose Trump's policies, especially in foreign policy. But thus time I agree.

So, Rubio, Hegseth, Johnson, Trump…all gave conflicting and awkward reasoning for engaging the U.S. in a war with Iran. Eminent threat? Israel attack would draw fire on U.S.?? ICBM rockets, or was it just ballistic rockets? Nuclear bombs? Seems odd that with all the intel that we supposedly had, not one of these guys could offer a viable and believable story.
Well, at least he didn't nuke one of our own states yet to take the spot light off of Epstein , but what happens after old "bone spurs" finds that this distraction wears off?
