This meme was actually created by a member of Steve's staff. |
Over the past few weeks, I've had to bite my tongue when several readers suggested that Steve Barron would be running Northampton County should Tara Zrinski be elected as Executive. What they did not know is that Barron had already given notice of his intended resignation, which will take effect tomorrow at the end of the day. I kept quiet about it because some malicious people would almost certainly attempt to sabotage his new job. He is leaving county employment for a higher-paying job with considerably less stress, and I wish him the best.
According to the meme, Barron has been providing content to bloggers on slow news days since 2007 and is a proud supporter of citizen journalism. That's right on the mark.
I suspect that in tghe years to come, I may be able to start kicking Steve around again. He's the public official that County Council loves to hate, but he also is one of the few people in government who actually reads the Home Rule Charter and Administrative Code. True, he doesn't always follow it, but he tries.
He'll be back.

TZ could always hire McClure after his failed election try. After all, he does know the smoke and mirror ways of norco finances.
I'm going to miss walking through his cigar smoke every morning as he sits outside and puffs away right in front of the 'no smoking' sign.
Well, good for him, but his arrogance may one day be his downfall.
Ever get a glimpse of him inside a Wawa in the candy bar aisle? If not there check the soda fountain.
Did he ever pay back the county for the pay he collected while teaching and politicking on county time?
As the financial steward of Northampton County, Steve took his fair share of jokes and jabs over the years (and maybe a few as Controller, too!). But those who truly knew him saw beyond the titles and the numbers; they saw someone who would do anything for anyone, always ready with a helping hand or thoughtful advice. His steady presence and generous spirit will be deeply missed by those lucky enough to work closely with him. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. They’re lucky to have him!
Steve is a solid dude, and good at his job.
When he said he was 48 years old I almost fell out of my chair. He looks so much older. Take care of yourself dude.
Wishing Steve the best, the county lost a very valuable asset.
Steve is a good guy….he needs to finish his bar exam ..wish him and his family well
